  • this song is so good im scared im gonna have a panic attack.

  • @rlt8959 Congradulations is great. The whole album, it's great.

  • sound like Camera Obscura

  • He should have said The Radio Dept. influenced him, otherwise Kings of Leon is better Strokes influenced music.

  • wtf... for real agoraphobia sufferers, google "former agoraphobic"

  • thanks to MGMT I listen to this band =] and I'm agoraphobic. marry me Andrew VanWyngarden

  • @runtubefantasy

mgmt sucks im from memphis just like them and they got old really quick

  • The strokes comparisons are due to the emotionless vocals and trebley, melodic lead guitar over a simple snarey-drum beat. It's not a bad thing, I like the strokes a lot, but that's where it comes from.

  • Great song. Weird video. Im scuuurd!

  • loved this song from the first second

  • Uk indie bands are better. this song remind me pulp

  • @Lauzan74 that's a joke right...?

  • deerhunter my favorite band at this moment they have something unique love it!

  • Why can't the strokes be the strokes and deerhunter be deerhunter? Just listen and shut up for a second.

  • the strokes sucks... Deerhunter rules!

  • @mushroomsseason Deerhunter and The Strokes are good in different ways. Love them both to death, but the new Strokes album definitely disappointed me

  • who really cares.

  • Cover me, cover me,

Come for me, come for me.

    Cover me, cover me,

    Comfort me, comfort me.

  • i love deerhunter and the strokes, but in different ways. deerhunter's music is more dreamy, and the strokes have more, like, rock-ness. at the moment i like deerhunter more, though. the strokes' new album really disappointed me

  • come for me?

    or comfort me?

  • @yayamyboy both and cover me its all three

  • Honestly, I can see where these people are coming from talking about The Strokes. The simplistic drum beat, backing rhythm guitar, and smooth silky lyrics. There ARE similarities.

  • Just because they're less known and cooler with the hip crowd doesn't make them a better band. I like both but The Strokes are better in my opinion.

  • meh artsy :P

  • People are probably comparing them to the strokes because this songs sound similar to "soma"

  • my mom just came in and said 'what's that? the strokes?'

    -NO MOM

  • does the melody remind anyone else of the song that played at the faerie's fountain from the legend of zelda?

  • @7TheRain7 Yeah totally! Crazy!

  • why the fuck are we comparing the deerhunter to the strokes? They're 2 completely different bands.

  • Fucking LOVE this song

  • the girl is creepy

especially 3:12 to 3:16 it looks like a scene in The Exorcist

  • @henry60808 i think its not a girl but an old ass woman LoL

  • cum for me

  • which other songs of Deerhunter's are similar to Agoraphobia and Helicopter? do they have any more? i know I sound completely idiotic but I would like to know of more.

  • @daedly all music can't be appreciated mate. you said so yourself that mainstream music is 'terrible'. that's horribly hypocritcal & quite frankly, music is an opinion based thing. this superiority that all 'good' music, of all genres, should be appreciated is bollocks. 'good' is only determined by an individual. & in my opinion, apart from one album the strokes aren't all that flash, and deerhunter certainly wouldn't be bothered to copy them.

  • This song is perfect

  • wtf...

    Strokes??

    Seriously?

How the hell is this piece of pure beauty in any way close to any music of the Strokes?

I like the Strokes, mind you, but this has nothing to do with the Strokes, they are in a completely diferent league, what the hell.

  • @Maravone the verses sound a bit like "You Talk Way Too Much"

  • @CDSol91 "You talk way too much" has a much quicker tempo and a completely different atmosphere, feeling and timbre...

Now if you are talking about melody, I suppose there are some very, very mild resemblances, but still...

You actually would be amazed with the amount of resemblances you can find in Pop-rock music, not counting with the use of samples, that in some cases are borderline rip-offs (I suppose you know Coldplay's "Talk"? Check Kraftwerk "Computer Love" and take your conclusions)

  • @Maravone sounds a lot like the strokes lol. sorry, get over it

  • @dvzqz87 You've clearly only listened to music since yesterday. Haha I'm just kind of joking, a little.

  • @Maravone This is definitely Strokes influenced dude

  • @mahavishnuxc this is no where near strokes influenced.

  • @alessonincrime You have either never heard of the strokes or are tone-deaf. Dont get me wrong, I love this song and i have a lot of respect for Deerhunter but this song is highly influenced by The Strokes - with the retro-mellow guitar sound, restrained drum beat, the apathetic sounding yet very affective vocals.

Listen to "Automatic Stop" by The Strokes.

-they're quite similar. It's NOT a ripoff of the "sound" of the song, but influenced by a similar emotion and attitude in music.

  • @mahavishnuxc i have heard of the strokes and im not deaf. this is much more .. idk, slower in terms of the sound, and nothing like automatic stop.

  • @Maravone "I loved the Strokes because I like rock'n'roll." -Bradford Cox Nov 10 2011 pitchfork

  • i dont like open spaces but i love this song c:

  • sounds like they ripped off alien ant farm to me.....

  • @nickbeaudoin1989

    which song?

  • Comment removed

  • This song reminds me that The Chameleons Don't Fall Up the Down Escalator.

  • frying to this song is awsome(:

  • How the fuck could anyone dislike this song...53 people don't like open spaces.

  • every time any known band is in the same genre as another, people start saying someone ripped off someone else

just shut up and scroll up because you're missing a weird girl dancing.

  • the strokes.. ??? this is a pavement's outtake circa crooked rain

  • I've listened to the Strokes for a long time and never thought this sounded like them. It's just clean guitar and bass over a simple drum beat. The Strokes didn't invent that. Who cares tho, a lot of music sounds like other music... that is why we like it a lot of the time.

  • ripped off incubus LOLZ

  • Reminds me of my mom being a teacher, and soooooo such a good mood. Gonna have sex with this eargasm song. Ifuckingloveit.

  • @thedoucheslayer I'm dumb high so I made up a story that you would never understand to make sense of absolutely nothing at all that exists. This video's dumb crazy.

  • @ifuckenhateUtube im high too

  • @MightyMartel So am I, I'm splitting an eighth of gold caps and an eighth of weed to fight the power #gonna be staaaoooowwwnnned

  • The Strokes + Deerhunter= same genre :|

  • @FrostieDragon Yes indeed, the genre of rock.

  • I am a fan of both The Strokes and Deerhunter, and I was awarded the opportunity to see both live this summer at Bonnaroo. I can tell you first hand they are nothing alike. It's okay to draw similarities between bands, that's part of what makes the listening experience so fun. But Deerhunter is far from a Strokes "rip-off"

Do yourself a huge favor and listen to Deerhunter's catalog!

  • @hiimnick5

how do they sound like the strokes? i see no similarity.

  • Obvious Strokes rip-off.. Good band non the less.

  • @hiimnick5 I can also hear The Strokes in them. You're not alone.

See some of the slower tracks from the First Impressions of Earth album

  • best song. ever.

  • Hey if you guys like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! Ive been listening to them ever since I heard them on NCIS:LA and love it. Reminds me of Deerhunter a bit

  • wtf is this video from?

  • All time favorite song <3 <3...hottest voice

  • deerhunter is better than the strokes. finally a good band since modest mouse

  • @2010ariellynn <3 . no homo

  • ^^

deerhunter is amazing, but they don't have shit on the strokes honestly.

  • @2010ariellynn You are comparing two different genres of music. Both are great bands, nothing to compare.

  • @2010ariellynn i'm not sure if you're saying that modest mouse is better than deerhunter

  • Agoraphobia -is an anxiety disorder defined as a morbid fear of having a panic attack or panic-like symptoms in a situation that is perceived to be difficult from which to escape.

  • one of the best pop band

  • the vocals sound a bit like Lou Reed

  • @drweth89 sort of. Lou Reed is Dark and mellow and low. this is more effeminate moaning.

  • @robinrossful I'm guessing you listen to something like death metal. This is just chill music. No need to have a superiority complex.

  • Fuck u!!! That's an awesome song!!!

  • It's a soundtrack to someone with a boring life.

  • I dig these guys....

  • I listened to this thinking "o I like this song" then I realized that I liked it because it was so similar to The Strokes...

    The Strokes! <3

but deerhunter is not that bad eaither :P

Why cant people like more then one band instead of commenting on other vids saying "blah blah blah is better!!"

But I do agree that this sound similar to the Strokes

  • Repeat ^.^.........<3

  • my fav deerhunter song

  • <3

  • this is a weird video...cool song though

  • for ages i was under the impression deerhunter was metal... i disgust myself.

  • Gives my brain goosebumps

  • He sounds kind of like Lou Reed.

Just discovered this group. Gotta say, what I've heard is great!

  • the lady in red looks exactly like my grandma

  • I don't know about you guys, but listening to Deerhunter is a spiritual experience for me.

  • deerhunter wouldn't waste their time ripping off the strokes

  • @inspiringlentil the strokes are better TBH

  • @I8RICKROLLERS go eat a dick

  • @FWF1991 stop kidding yourself!

  • @inspiringlentil music snobs like you infuriate me like no other! To be so closed minded about music is why Deerhunter aren't more appreciated. You're just as bad as the people who only listen to terrible mainstream music. The fact that you can't appreciate two different great artists like The Strokes and Deerhunter is just wrong. Music isn't about excluding people or artists, it's about opening your mind to different things and emotions. Music should be appreciated by all, especially good music

  • strokes anyone?

  • @alejandrosoto27

very similar chords to on "Is this it?". I agree with you!!

  • @alejandrosoto27

    Completely agree.

  • @alejandrosoto27 Well, it's not really the chords that make the band distinct, it's the everything around them. I mean, it has a similar texture to that song, yes, but the guitar doesn't lead it. It's like comparing the molecular make up of one thing to another completely different thing: they may have a few molecules in common, but they're still different. Anyway this isn't likely to be a ripped off because it's just and E chord moved into various spots on the neck, so I'd guess it's purposeful

  • es una escena de la pelicula de Pedro Almodovar . " la flor de mi secreto"

itas a PEDRO ALMODOVAR ,scene from the movie "la flor de mi secreto" CRISTINA HOYOS.

  • Every time I hear deerhunter I automatically have to take a crap near an elm tree

  • i love this song but this video is random and weird....

  • Great song. Cool video. Fantastic band.

How these boys manage to stay under the radar, yet get the music out, amongst drastic changes in the recording industry is mind-blowing. Deerhunter has earned huge gobs of respect for doing this, in a relatively short period of time.

In summary... easily the best band I've heard in 10 years.

  • i like reading unique comments

  • the lady reminds me of martha graham, the pioneer of modern dance who committed suicide...

  • @SpritleDawnAmbrose According to the NYtimes article, Graham died of cardiac arrest...either way thanks for giving me somebody to look up!

  • The Pixies - Silversun Pickups - Prefab Sprout - all in one...sick!

  • feel lk am in a daze when i hear this song

  • fuck, this song is so easy to lose yourself in. Awesome stuff.

  • that girl is creepy as poop

  • @BlackWXwido she has some pretty legit interlacing powers though.

  • *only when you truly accept yourself

  • the enjoyment of music is subjective. what may appeal to you, may not to another. i guess we gotta at least try respecting another's taste and not be so wrapped up in ours, cos the world don't revolve around ourselves. if it did, this conversation would not be happening. you can accept another only you truly accept yourself. peace!

  • confirmed to Paredes de Coura 2011, I hope to go there. :)

  • how fitting

  • this song is perfect to make pb&j's to.

  • I love how that distorted video effect lessens throughout

  • What do the video has to do with Agoraphobia at all?

  • @tidus454 The lead singer suffered from it I believe.

  • can u make more cool videos like this

  • glad to see Dave Navarro found work

  • @emerilgoesbam i haven't listen to a lot of deerhunter, but i wanna know what this means. lol

  • @cirquexduxsoleil lol just meant that the guy in the video resembles Dave Navarro

  • @emerilgoesbam

yes indeed..but he is joaquin cortes..:) i just saw the movie(flower of my secret)

  • @emerilgoesbam haha, i caught on after...decided to watch the whole video. lolol

  • 2:55

deerhunter has some of the greatest basslines ever. its like the harmonies are reaching all over the place.

  • @alliant Yes I agree, that's why I like Nothing Ever Happened so much

  • Someone, please explain to me why I love this music so much?

Cause I'm at a complete loss.

    I heard Cryptograms - didn't like it. Then Microcastle/Weird Era - didn't get it.

Then Halcyon Digest came out and I actually dug some of it. I went back through their catalog and somehow all of it grew on me in a huge way. I would sit in my room with Cryptograms really loud, just listening. Then I'd put in Microcastle.

But I just haven't figured out what it is that makes them what they are.

  • at least its as fake as its listeners, not deerhunter

  • something has to keep the sheep entertained.

  • I absolutely love this song. It's so beautiful and haunting at the same time.

  • @imsohoodphab word ....

  • @imsohoodphab >.< what you are saying doesn't make any sense. the results, b) and c) have nothing to do with criticism/talent and more to do with the confidence of the band. there is a cornucopia of different kinds of bands with multitudes of different confidence levels which don't always reflect their skill. the generalizations u are making are the same generalizations that make some bands with potential never reach it out of defeatism shoveled on them by harsh criticism which leadsto result a)

  • @imsohoodphab who are you to judge what is inspired and what is uninspired... you would be surprised what kind of music makes people happy even if a minimal effort was applied. And you are so wrong... Its because of criticism that we don't have more bands like this so many people think their opinions about music matter (<-pinchysandcrab1!) so they tend to discredit bands like this when they first start, when they don't sound all that great especially in todays insane performance standards.

  • beautiful ;-;

  • @imsohoodphab your right, i didn't think of it before but if you derive pleasure or entertainment from comparing music then i guess through self/social validation its not a waste of time but i still don't believe in discrediting any music from being worthy of being heard and such is the case sometimes with comparisons...

  • que buenos ritmos, sencillos y precisos, fantástico

    Saludos desde Mexico DF

  • que buenos ritmos, sencillos y precisos, fantástico

    Saludos desde Mexio DF

  • The screen tearing is an intentional part of the video, right?

  • @TheRedChannels yeah..or else the background would be doing the same thing. i wondered the same thing though :)

  • angoraphobia

  • i was looking for agoraphobia, stuff, lol, this shit makes nice songs XD

  • RAD! I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE TYPE OF RELATIVISTIC CRITIQUE YOU WRIT PETER...IT IS THE TRUEST PERSPECTIVE TO HAVE AND IT ALLOWS THE WORLD OF ART AND CULTURE TO OPEN UP TO ANYONE WITH ALL ITS GIFTS AVAILABLE

  • omg 3:14

  • i remember being in that comfortable afterglow of an mdma high and completely getting this video somehow. it was intense and lovely.

  • This song makes me want to have a panic attack in a social setting.

  • @michaellovegrove

that was the best comment I have ever read lately..

  • @michaellovegrove Funny, I had a panic attack after smoking weed, listening to Deerhunter. :(

  • @michaellovegrove

Some people like their depression and social anxiety because it insulates them and protects them from growing up and realizing that they are just ONE PERSON in a world of 7 BILLION.

You're not important or significant and nobody is paying attention to you. Everyone is thinking about themselves first just like you are. Stop obsessing about yourself. No one gives a f**k about you.

This sucks but it's also the key to freedom.

  • @michaellovegrove happened to me at coachella 2010

  • @xxflareknightxx oh my gosh, I would kill to go to Coachella! Really though? That sucks.

  • @michaellovegrove Why would you say that...

  • @xXSgtWolfXx I have no idea. haha. wow, didnt realise it got that many thumbs up...

  • @michaellovegrove Panic attacks are the worst. Especially the feeling of losing touch with reality or losing control of your body.

  • @michaellovegrove why? their the worst things ever.

  • Either this video is very unique, or my video card just took a shit.

  • @fooschmack lol. Thanks for the laugh.

  • @flaperke this video with any drug = great trip don't you?

  • This song is fucking me in my earpussy

  • fuck
