Hello, I have the Death and the Maiden of Laurie Lipton drawing tattoo on my arm. Just researching what the drawing means makes a lot more scene listening to this song. check out her drawing's and you will be hooked
Never ever delete this video! ;) It's absolutely clear that it's not a seroius, professional performance, but it's really nice. Also the old styled fashion fits perfectly to the amateur perfomance! Thanks for posting.
It's just not bel canto. Could be better, needs more support from the diaphragm. Tune the piano too, and oooo! that girl is creepy oooo! (the piano player!) oooo nightmares!
Hey, you're 19, not a german speaker, and you know more about diction than someone who is 52Thanks for the helpful comment. Obviously, these pieces were not meant to be so seriously. Incidently, my teacher, who is from Germany, thought my progress was good. Bye.
I'm a 19 year old that has one competitions with this song... don't question my knowledge of this song... read a German diction book.... maybe I was little harsh when I said horrible, but it would help if you would look up a couple of those words.. some of them were really bad
Thanks for your kindness. It isn't very productive wasting time making comments to lesser talents, I would practice instead, 30 comes around before you know it..
Well, I'm from Germany and I've to say that her German isn't as bad as I thought. Well of course, it sounds better when a native speaker sings it! We'll play this at our school and in my opinion the death should be sung by a man, it sounds better (well, at least it does when we're playing it)
Try to get the accentuation by listening to a native speaker. Does not yet sound quite german, especially because the syntax and the words of this piece are ancient.
Awesome. Both of you. I tried to take a class in German but I didn't do that well. Ahsinger, I must share that I have always enjoyed your daughters videos too. I actually miss seeing her creativity. I would like to see more from both of you. ;-)
No it's not. Somebody who speaks english, says the letter "y" like he would say "why". In german we would say for "y" - "üpsilon". But that doesn't help her since she isn't german right? Anyway - Awesome song, great singer, fantastic video. :)
Congratulations! You've made a haunting song kind of fun. Nicely done actually.
For those that aren't familiar with this song, the singer Marian Anderson sung it absolutely superbly, as her voice could reach the lower notes that are required for this piece.
Hey ... her singing is pritty ... and she pronounced the words the right way ... love it ... youre playing the piano that well ... go on! its fun watching!
There is so much I love about this short video! The film effects were terrific for such a sad song. Schubert...gotta love him! Great singing...would love to hear more.
hey whats with not going for the LOW D. i know its hard most people opt for the higher D like you did. but wasnt this written for a bass? i guess altos can go at it too. but i still love your performance.
I can't make the low D. I'm still trying to improve this piece, esp. the second part. David Daniels sings this one better than anyone else! It's on Serenade
Your Mom's a beauty! And you look just like her :) Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I think it was like your second video I watched where I begged to hear more from her and you sure didn't disappoint! My goodness SHE CAN SING! She gave me goosebumps! Sind Sie Deutsch? Great job on the piano, Willow.

I'm not too sure if I would tune the piano to be honest. Out of tune pianos sound unnerving and that is definitely what this song needs.

.... your voice is okay... but your pronunciation is HORRIBLE.... you need to look those words up and learn how to say them.... stick with English

kudos for the performance, but it's a touch deep and depressing...

you need to work on your german, ü is not pronounced like a u but like a y

Das war excellent. Dein blick ist wirklich teuflisch, Willow. Deine mutter hat 'ne gutte stimme.
I have a request: Faure's requiem (Libera me) although, you would need a choir so forget that.
Het ga je goed!!

Boy, this is a really, really sad song.
I read your profile and you describe yourself as a late bloomer. Do you sing professionally?
At around 1 minute of this video Willow looks into the camera as if she was going to kill someone!!
