Dwafs can be agressive if they're scared or stressed. For your Syrain Hamster, try using strong winter gloves while holding her so she doesn't bite. Also give her a really good treat while she's in your hand. Keep doing this for awhile, then try without the gloves. If she bites when you don't have the gloves on, just go back to the gloves again for awhile. Keep repeating this stage until she gets it right.

eemm well I know syrians average life span is 2.5 - 3 years but I once had one that lived till 5;D! I think dwarf hamsters have a similar life span.
