@TheZombieJC this was a teaser trailer. wasn't meant to show anything in the movie It was designed to entice people and get their curiosity going and hopefully get them into the theaters to want to see more.
really? people think this movie is unrealistic? it's about a guy who has the powers of a spider, swings around the city on magic webs that shoot from his fingers, and wears what could probably be a designer wet suit :L it's not really the most realistic thing in the world
don't get me wrong i'm not a hater, i like spiderman - but if you want a realistic movie, it's not really for you
i know they did it out of respect for the families of the people lost that day but i think not talking about it and deleting images and scenes from shows and movies is an insult to the memory of those brave people caught in the chaos and horror of it all, but thats just my opinion...
This was ORIGINALLY supposed to be Spiderman's first appearance in his official costume. Cutting this scene was one of HARDEST things the producers of this movie ever had to do because it was such a COOL scene! But the WTC was now gone and they knew it would REALLY upset the friends and families of the 9/11 victims. The WTC was also digitally removed from all shots in this movie as well. When 9/11 happened, the filming for this movie was finished but the editing wasn't.
@richardthewriter I know, they always bring older more 'experienced' actors but I guess the cam makes them look 10 years younger as opposed to older...
@rickcristo true. which is why cher now looks like a vampire. she looks 29 and she is like 70. the joy of plastic surgery and vitamin water and pilates, I suppose...
@TimBatan hey I remember how crazy people in theaters went for the original batman in 89. especially when the bat symbol reflected in the moon. it was an iconic moment...
@cubre99 I have to like the first one the best because goblin isn't one of the bigger villains and they did him justice. In my opinion they totally aborted doc oc and venom so I have to hate the 2nd and third. This is just my opinion of course.
This trailer is the only reason I decided to go see Spiderman. Luckily I was one of the few people that got to see this trailer at the theater before 9/11 and before they began to pull it out of the previews.
They still should have shot the scene of the helicopter at least in some other skyscrapper like the Empire State building.
This scene was opriginally meant to be in Spidey's crime-fighting montage. You can briefly see that close up shot of Spidey with the WTC in his eyes, which definately shows this scene was in there and cut from the movie.
I always like seeing the towers -- like in the opening credits for Friends and in the film AI:Artificial Intelligence, and in older films. It is as if they want to erase our memory, or think they are protecting us as if we are children. Sometimes it is necessary to see what's been lost, even in a Spiderman film.
wheteher or not they left it in or took it out due to 9/11...god bless those who lost their lives that day.....that scene looked mad cheesy and corny....the effects was type shitty if u ask me
One word describes how completely desensitized the country is to the 9/11 attacks..."Cloverfield". It may be a cool movie and i know how to differentiate fiction and reality but it's a sad reality knowing no one cares or really remembers. However i did enjoy that film too.
@riosdante When you don't learn to forget and you dwell on what members of other religions have done to your people in the past, you end up destroying buildings full of innocent people.
I get that people in this country are stupid and didn't want this in the movie because it would seem unrealistic but in the context of the story and it reality i think the studio should have shown some balls and left it in the final cut of the film.
it is the original trailer, but because the helicopter got tuck between the twin towers.....they took that WHOLE scene outta the movie as to not "offend" anyone after 9-11 had just happened.....Which I think it lame!!! But w/e.....Good trailer...
Yes it was. I remember seeing this trailer when Jurassic Park III came out, and that was about July or August. The original release date for Spider-Man was originally supposed to March or April of 2002.
I don't get it, this trailer is terrible. It makes Spider-man look like a TV drama on the WB.

why is that hollywood always casts actors MUCH older? Toby was 27 playing a high school student. Andrew Garfield will be 29 in 2012 for the reboot.

Hollywood actors look really, really, really young for their age. Their careers depend on it.

@MasteroChieftan That is your opinion, and I respect it.
However, personally I favor the 2nd movie over the first, and find the 3rd one tolerable if taken in small doses.
ryanson209 1 year ago
@MasteroChieftan What? Spider-man 2 was clever, had warming character development, and a complex villain! It's the best of the Spider-man movies!

this not a deleted scene from the movie it was a specially made teaser trailer kind of like pixar teasers. the towers were not in the movie period.

Wasn't the original ending peter killing Green Goblin between the towers? and after 9/11 they had to rewrite and film a different ending?
