  • Never to be compared to Lucio Dalla! Go sing jingles kid

  • Hermosooo!♥

  • Hermoso!!

  • My god, that's obsession!!

  • ps: pavarotti or anyone else cant even be compared to 1 tiny dust molecule on your shoelace.

  • Please sing this to me <3

  • Yes this was one of the first times he sang it. By the way he IS singing in Italian and not in German. He does the romance languages and English, prefers sad songs. Just listen to "Vincent". Rare tribute to Van Gogh, and very moving.

  • I thought his performance was great. I don't see anything wrong with it. German sounds very difficult to sing in. But he does a good job of it.

  • "Ichtnk akkkek kkkkzzkkkk chtttik Josh Groban."

  • I love Josh Groban. And this may not be his best performance, but it was a long time ago. He's gotten so much better over the years. Besides, he said so himself, he didn't enjoy his success for a couple of years. He was probably nervous. Don't be so harsh on him.

  • but i recommend lara fabian or bochelli or jolio iglasius

  • I like this

  • The show was live from Austria, in Klagenfurt

    Thanks for posting!

  • OMG !!!! wie er wunderschoen singt......

  • If you want to hear an amezing live intpretation of this song try Lucio Dalla live in Verona

  • Unfortunately I just don't buy it and I'm not so sure he even understands what he's saying here -- I just don't see the feeling - the acting needed for great opera -- he is singing the words but there is no deep blinding soulful passion of looking out across the Sea of Sorrento after holding his crying woman in his arms and trying to say how much he loves her sorry I don't dislike it but it's not a thumbs up for me

  • You do an outstanding job on this Josh. You do so much better than Pavarotti. You don't cry your way through this song like Pavarotti does.

  • Try and hear this song in the voice of Lucio Dalla and then you will realise who puts Groban, Bocelli and even Pavarotti in his pocket! Gli meti tutti in tasca!

  • @fascin80 hahahaha,good joke

  • @jakedezziderius You know that Lucio Dalla actually WROTE this song? Here, try this: youtube.com/watch?v=-2VRd8EtYzM

  • @fascin80 i know,i just commented somethin else :)

  • Meh his good...but Andrea bocelli gives me goosebumps when his sings Caruso. In my opinion. His voice isn't as strong as Andrea's.

  • I love how he voice dips down very deep for a brief moment. Absolutely amazing. His range blows me away.

  • I am sorry but I don't think that Josh Groban does a good job with this song.

  • I don't know a whole lot about music, but I know what I like. Pavarotti owns this song. Groban sounds weak to me....again, I'm no expert.

  • @jtoosph22

Groban is not as good as many act when it comes to actual skill. He has a very pleasant voice, but when it comes to the power you need behind songs like this he falls terribly flat!

  • WELL....MAYBE HE CAN BEET ME ON A TENNIS GAME BUT HE NEEDS A LONG WAY TO BEAT ME SINGING! YOUTUBE SEARCH ...ROGERLEECYPRUS!THANKS!

  • he can sing...but i thought he was boring......i know singers that sing this at their local night club and would blow his version out of the water,it didnt move me at all.....i think if you sing a song u have to be open to criticism...and will be compared to the singers that send chills down your spine singing the same song. good job ,but didnt do it for me

  • @MrKeysjimmy i don't think the problem is his singing. i can't say for sure, but it really seems as if he doesn't understand the lyics. ex. "ma tanto tanto, bene assai" that's a powerful statement, yet he kinda glosses over it. also his mastery of italian gets in his way.

all together, i have no problem with it, i think it's quite laudable that he steps out of his comfort zone.

  • wow. seems the pressure he put on himself here is fairly obvious. a super talented guy for sure, who as of this writing appears to have really grown into himself, and is throughly enjoying what he does. he wasn't quite so much in this video. and still very enjoyable.

  • Caruso isn't opera lol.

  • The song is transposed i think,

Ok, he is not an opera singer. So why on earth he try and do.

Is he a tenor? Is he a baritone? I m not sure, but i guess he is a lyric baritone who sings songs composed for tenor, but transposed.

  • I agree with " lordshin73 , it is missing a lot in his performance a very dull performande by this a very mediocre singer with a powerful promotional lobby.

  • If I didn't see Pavarotti, Lara Fabian, or the composer of this piece, Lucio Dalla sing this, I'd actually think this rendition was good...however, I am watching this after previewing the three vocalist I've mentioned...something is missing in his performance here....feels empty. As a talent, however, he's the real deal...but this performance lacks something.

  • @lordshin73 Ah yes, you are quite right. Fireworks at the end is what it needed. :)

  • He has the voice for it, but not the depth of emotion.

  • @GaelinW maybe he was nervous.... don't be so harsh. :( This video is at the beginning of his career- he's still shy at this point.

  • not even close to the older versions..it simply does not move you...why they dont stick to their own songs

  • Josh Groban, marry me!!!!

  • @andreca90 Please, Josh dont marry me, I'm a guy. But let me hear some more. :)

  • ma fatela finita si sente che non e´italiano!!!!!!!!!! oppure siciliano!!!!!!!!

  • Josh is already great and he will only get better.

  • @sk8412c Like a fine wine, he gets better with age. ;)

  • Complimenti! Veramente. Perfetta interpretazione valutando che lui é di Los Angeles.

In Italia ci sono cantanti che bisbigliano e si mangiano le parole... Bravo, bravo, bravo!!!

  • Saw him live.. He is very very very GOOD!

  • I would agree that Josh has a good voice, but more presense is needed.

  • awesome!!!!

  • e minunat!

  • If you want to see passion. Check out Lara Fabian's live version. Amazing.

Not saying Josh Groban doesn't have a beautiful voice though.

  • @drcise Was just thinking that I would love to hear Josh sing this song with Lara. I love them both and think they do an equally great great job of this song which is one of my favorites. Josh did sing For Always with Lara.

  • There is feeling there if you are listening properly. People need to listen not just hear. There is a difference. Pavarottis version is a differnt key, so cannot cmpare but i have listened and his version is forced. This isn't, it sounds free.

  • Josh has an incredible voice, but I agree that he doesn't have the passion for this song. I have heard him sing others where he totally grasps the power and meaning. I think that is part of the cultural divide. Americans don't feel like Europeans, nor can Europeans ever feel like Americans. The psyche just does not mesh, sad as it is!

  • A esta gente no deberian permitirle interpretar una pieza como esta. Es un insulto

  • no passion...........no caruso

  • I know this has little to do with the video, but I absolutely love the set he's singing on.

  • very nice voice. I have heart Pavarotti's version and Il divo's version, and in my opinion pavarotti will be always "The Man", but this guy doesnt do it bad!

    ;)

  • Good voice, lacks feeling..

  • He is doing his own version and believe he interprets it just fine - he is not Pavarotti - he is Josh Groban!

  • Verdammt ... und ausgerechnet diese "Wetten, dass..."-Folge habe ich nicht gesehen!!

Dabei liebe ich Josh Groban und seine Stimme so unsagbar! :(

  • pięknie

  • IF U DONT HAVE SOMETHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT SOMEBODY,, DONT SAY NOTHING DAMN IT!!!... each singer si different thats WHY they sell cds ...

I think this is the best interpretation of this song. i hear it thousends of times with hundred of singers ... and i like JOSH GROBAN . im his fan!!

by the way ... listen that with LARA FABIANA...

  • @PrEttYbAbYmx have you ever listen by andea bocelli....josh is good, but not enough....!!!

  • Andrea is italian ... :) its because of it

  • @PrEttYbAbYmx well said. People would do well to listen to this advice. Its usually the ones that dont no anything at all that comeout with the most ridiculous comments. Keep things positive but keep your feet on the ground. Dont go for pie in the sky comments! Listen to this girl, she has more sense than the older people!

  • Vitas is better

  • Vitas is more, more good.

  • ha ucciso caruso per la seconda volta

  • limp, listen to the writer of the song lucio dallia live in verona.

  • this presentator sucks so much, he's always so disrespectful

  • Pavarotti has Passion when he sings this!!!

  • Another great performance by Josh!

  • You can get the audio-mp3 of this video at grabyourmp3s doht cohm.

  • The voice of an ANGEL........... God knows what he's doing when he gives us these people!!

  • Lucio dalla sings the song perfect!!!

  • I believe this young fella is a fantastic Star with a tremendous voice

  • Whoa, that announcer is tall. *_*

  • da paura!!!

  • Very good Italian pronunciation!

  • ich hab das damals bei wetten dass...? gesehen ohne zu wissen, wer denn dieser süße typ ist, der da auf italienisch singt. xD jetzt bin ich schlauer^^ gott sei dank! and I just hope that this incredible singer comes back to germany next year!!! PLEASE!! To watch him perform live would be a real gift to me...and many others as well^^ Seine neue Single lässt schon darauf hinweisen, dass das neue album großartig sein wird und mal wieder voll von wunderbarem schmalz xDD

  • just SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lara Fabian's got a great voice but I went to watch her video after some people were criticizing this and other interpretations and said hers was the best...I don't understand why people equate good singing with sighing and moaning...

  • Pippin from Lord of The Rings.

  • This version is marvelous! I did not expect that Josh Groban made so many appearances on German TV. Too bad I've never seen one. ... at least Thomas Gottschalk is not mispronouncing Josh's name ;D

  • was??wann war das??ahhhhhh ich ich habes verpasst.ich will josh

  • I'm italian and I can say that his pronunciation is very, very, very... good! :-)

    I love also his voice!

  • -his voice is like an Angel!!!!!!!! love him!!

  • Pavarotti and Bocelli do it better.

  • @MovidaNapoletana

    Correctly: "I guess......" ;)

  • i love he

  • Chills all through my body and I almost cried.

  • like pavarotti...ahahahahahahahahahaah si o zess

  • As much as I love, love, love Josh, those who love this song should listen to Lara Fabian's version - it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, as well as brought me to tears.

  • How to ruin a beautiful song. Give it to an average singer who can't phrase italian and you get this rubbish. Stick to singing tat Josh you will never be an opera singer and you simply don't have the heart or emotion for this song. This is a song for someone who has lived a full life and can do it justice.

  • @straponjane Sorry but I can't agree. I don't know if you know Josh Groban or his songs or not but I think you don't. If you would know him you wouldn't say that he has no heart or emotion for this song. Josh is a very soulful singer. He sings with his heart and whit passion. Always. Maybe it is not his best performance but don't say he is an average singer! It is not true. And nobody said he is an opera singer or he will be one. I like e.g. Lara's version but that is too theatrical for me.

  • @Maybenextyear1 if your not an opera singer, then don't sing it. it just ends up bad. he's good at what he does but not this.

  • Comment removed

  • @straponjane This song is not an "opera-song"... Pavarotti and Bocelli give their interpretation, but the original version is different. Lucio Dalla is the writer and he doesn't have a strong voice, but he his so soulful!

    I love also this version!

  • me gusto vocalmente no hay peros ,aunque siento que le falto fuerza a la interpretacion

  • LA MUSICA PARLA ITALIANO, NINTE DA DIRE.

  • His Italian pronunciation, accent and voice are faultless. Few Italian performers sound as Italian as he, yet he’s not. For those who’s idea of Italian, is to gesticulate and sound Calabrese, please go back to school. Manzoni rolls in his grave, when you open your mouths ….

    Bravo Groban!

  • BEST VERSION MINA MAZZINI SORRY IF IVE OFFENED ANYONE ....

  • BLOODY AWEFULL ...

  • I've heard so many versions of this song, but honestly, 'for me' (not quotation marks of a subjective statement) I didn't really feel anything. It is technically good and sound, but no poignant emotions to be felt. I loved Lara's version better. And of course Pavarotti. Now those, I felt the ache.

  • @heelrunner No one can come close to Lara's version ! The emotion, the passion dripping, renders me breathless every time.

  • good Italian, exellent singer. it's difficult for an american guy.I've heard wrost italian pronounces...

The Host is a little weird..

  • He is f*cking incredible..

    the best male voice..honestly

  • Respect your opinion but for me, Lara fabian is the best singer for this song..

  • @wellonm she sings it nicely...but dont forget the original one by Lucio dalla...his duet with pavarotti live is just stunning

  • his Italian is poor... i mean the accent..i agree with alecutesmile..

  • The best performer of this song is Lara Fabian. Josh has a beautiful voice, but he should improve his pronunciation in Italian.

  • this guy sing f-ing awesome!

  • Once you hear Pavarotti's version, it's hard to appreciate any other performance. But of course, the difference is that Pavarotti was a real operatic tenor and Groban is just a wannabe tenor, so it's really quite unfair to compare the two.

  • @averagehomosapien Josh Groban is young. just regard that aspect before comparing a legend with a "will be" one. They're both good, if you want to hear a performance that personally i consider it extremely great, search for Caruso sung by Lara Fabian. Just a recommandation.

  • This is the second German television show I've seen with Josh where they had all this fire around. That seems odd to have a singer perform around all that smoke -- not very good for the voice, i would think. Beautiful song, though.

  • I won't compare this to Andrea's version, but it's beautiful!

  • the best ever

  • incredibile questo ragazzo...e la pronuncia è perfetta!!!!

  • great song, great singer but his pronunciation i dont lke sorry, hear this song with lara fabian

  • great voice!! beautiful and powerful baritone. as a lyrico tenor myself I can say what he really is.. but it doesnt matter. He is a fantastic singer, thats what he is. This world needs more singers!!

  • voll schön, love him)))))))))))))

  • Wonderfull voice, magic song, extraordinary language...

  • Personally I think that the accent and the pronounciation is just a detail to this point. I am italian and when I heard this my first thought wasn't "Oh, he can't speak properly!"....it was "This is great love and hurting in singing"

  • pfff ,,lol,,,

  • Josh Groban is a brilliant powerful and multitalented BARITONE. He has incredible range. FYI the "tenor in training" was a joke

  • Le parole + belle che si possono cantare, grazie Lucio Dalla!!!

  • me encanta Josh pero el intèrprete favorito para mi con esta canción es sin duda Andrea Bocelli..

  • Brilliant - and his Italian is perfect. I'd love to hear Rhydian sing this one!

  • I love this song;) Josh Groban is amazing;)

  • is this in madison square garden?

  • @francotitsassfart THIS IS IN GERMANY in Frankfurt TV

  • noooo, It says Germany in the title. And the guy's speaking german.

  • his pronunciation is almost perfect! Great Josh!

  • @reddevil82 He is Italian Jew

  • He is not Italian, idiot

  • @liderumcom

    1) he's Russian/Norwegian, not Italian

    2) He's not Jewish. His father was a Russian Jew, but then converted. He was raised as an Episcopalian.

  • @liderumcom

    1. he's not Italian, he's Russian/Norwegian

    2. He's not Jewish. His father was a Russian Jew, but converted when he married. He was raised as an Episcopalian.

  • @fa2064 Wow...I would 've never guessed...Anyways HE IS THE B E S T voice in the world/ counting time from beginning to the end..../Josh rules!!!!!

  • The guy is actually good.

  • زنفل بيسلم عليكم

  • офигенски

  • It took balls for him to redo this song and I think its missing a little something that I cant put my finger on, but it was good.

  • Passion, passion, he needs the passion!

  • Yes!! Thats it..He tends to lack that on occasion.

  • @ceebeeful Yes! The passion!

  • @ceebeeful I've always thought that. Whenever I hear "Caruso" by Josh, though I do adore that man, I think he rushes this song a bit.

  • @ceebeeful .He's pretty great for a young guy, actually....

  • you are great espacialy in this song becoause I am neapolitan

  • #First heard this in One more Kiss starring Gerard Butler fantastic. Beautiful song Beautiful Movie. Thank you Josh and Gerry.

    LUVYA

    Joan (HUG) xxx

  • Ahhh... me fascina. Voz y rostro apacibles.

  • He did a great interpretation of this song...

    he has a wonderful voice

  • Josh he is great, please, never put together singers, just look at their talent, they all are great, we can not live our life with one singer, so take it easy, lets enjoy what this great guys do...... one at the time.... he is good.... I have hundreds of names in my book, and I love all of them...

  • @khodemooni well, i am a 19 yo italian boy... I was lookin for a song to dedicate to my girlfriend, and i finally found it... this guy sings in a perfect italian ( some italians talk italian in a worst way xD) GO JOSH! YOU ROCK!

  • @khodemooni There are not hundreds of great singers... please refrain from misusing the word "great", thanks.

Great = Pavarotti, Bocelli, Domingo, and maybe there is 100 great singers... i challenge you to back your words up and name me at least 200 GREAT singers... then i will believe you when i see the list.

  • Very good performance! and good italian too ;) Please, it's unfair to compare him to Pavarotti: he's not a tenor! I think he interpreted very well

  • Well he actually is but he has crappy popish technique.

  • no doubts about this... I should have been in a good mood when I wrote that, he's actually good as pop singer (=crap) but this song is clearly not a pitch for him

  • He isn't a Tenor at all. He has said he is a 'tenor in training'.

  • tomatela no tenes ni un poquito de cara para querer cantar = que pabaroti

  • not convincing......too much emphasis on the word pronounciation ,negleting the feeling, pitch changing twice.....josh is capable of much much more if u listen to "to where you are" for example...

  • i agree with you

  • not bad... but i've seen better!

  • lara fabian is much better. probably because i love her haha

  • fuck you

  • bah ... nice voice wel made but...

    i don't like , lara fabian is better ,

i dislike this german pronunciation as well english pronunciation.

expecially "zai" instead of "sai" in this version...

lara fabian is the only i can accept for this kind of music.

  • This is not bad at all. He did a good job with this song.... Nice......

  • Sorrento my city Naples capital in world the song of my city sorrento

  • Ich hab ihn letztens bei Ally McBeal gesehen. Er hat dort in zwei Folgen mitgespielt. Wahnsinnsstimme!

  • Love him!!

  • Really, his pronounciation is actually quite good for an English speaker. His e's are a bit too rounded and he can't seem to master the diphthongs - his 'voglio' sounds rather strange to me. But his singing is superb, even if I like his French renditions much better.

It's funny though, speaking of languages, this video confuses me. I suppose I'm just not used to hearing German, Italian and English all in the span of a few minutes.
