There's almost no character customization. All you can customize are their weapons and attire, and you have to buy them all first to know what they'll look like. The game focuses on the combat strategy element rather than individuality.

Go ahead and try to shoot down anything you want. You're going to fail. I, for one, prefer more realistic character design. It's fine if you have a cow/ox/humanoid thing, but at least make the humans look like humans. Find me another game in any top 10 MMORPGs list that sports characters as ridiculously cartoonish as WoW. At least in LOCO, the humans actually look like humans. They do in LotR, FF11, GW, City of Heroes/Villains (mostly), Eve, I could go on.

i gotta disagree with you...i also think games r like music and you cant base an opinion w/o ever playing the game, but wow isnt just a big reputation and name...wow found the balance between hardcore players and ppl who doesnt have that much of time, developed great tools for a faster gameplay experience (such as doungeon finder), has huge content both in pve and pvp, and very elaborated pve fights. I still didnt saw a game wich accomplished all then in 1 single piece of game.

@tota5 Personally, I love World of Warcraft, and I was a WoWGamer for about 4 years semi-casually... and honestly? WoW insults don't even bug me anymore. I just shrug it off like the ignorants that throw them around. They'll never feel what WoW is about because EVERY other game has WoW to look up to, so they hate. Every new game that comes out is refered to as "WoW Killer" because everybody KNOWS WoW is on top, regardless of what their petty minds conjure, and that is a fact that won't change.

Wow got epic cause one of the mmo´s would be on that spot, and blizzard really polishes her games. @tota5 Very true. Well, I still, to this day, don't believe WoW is going to go anywhere anytime soon. It's stuck around for 6 years even with graphics far inferior to the more modern games. Even Aion, that was said to be killing WoW with it's oh-so superior gameplay, failed to get anywhere remotely close to WoW. I remember when the WoW-Haters were using it to insult WoW, telling WoWGamers that it would kill us out. Today, I just Lol.

Not everything gamers want. Not all gamers want to play walking caricatures. How did WoW become so popular? Hype. How did it maintain that popularity? It attracts minors and adults with the mentality of minors. There's no shortage of either in the gaming industry. Why don't other MMOs attract as many? They're not as obnoxious in everything they do, from character design to advertising. MMOs like COH/V , GW, Eve, and FF11 are aimed at an audience that prefers more mature gameplay.

And in end game, most games dont have end game content, its basically level up to max level and you are done. This game has decent/great pvp system, while most mmorpgs only allow you to fight in certain areas. There is a nice profession system, which many games dont have, a good auction house. Mailing system. Decent/good customer service.

I'll use Guild Wars as an example for the leveling discussion. The level cap for GW is 20 for a reason. You're supposed to reach level 20 way before you get the the end of any campaign. In fact, they even made an expansion solely for playing beyond the level cap, and they also made an expansion/campaign that nearly rockets you through the leveling process early on in the campaign so you don't have to worry about grinding (Factions).

As for PvP, I personally prefer it being restricted to certain areas. I've always hated the threat of PKing, and the people who go out of their way to find loopholes to exploit so they can do it and get away with it. As for a "nice profession system", I don't understand what you mean. By the time you can make full use of even one profession, you've likely beaten roughly 80% of the game already.

@DanIsAces Profession system, like Cooking, Enchanting, Mining, etc. Most games dont have that. The way i think of it is 50% is leveling and the other 50% is raiding and pvping. I just like World Pvping.

I'm not a fan of PvP. Too much trash-talk, never enough skill to back it up. I rarely PvP in the games I do play. When I do, I do well but still hear/read nothing but trash-talk. Nothing but poor winners and sore losers. There's just no point. As for the "jobs" portion, EverQuest 1 and 2 have/had that and it was awesome. There's plenty of raiding in DDO, too. There's even technically raiding in Guild Wars, if you count places like Fissure of Woe and such.

I'll use DDO (DnD online) my next example. The only things keeping DDO from absolutely dominating WoW are its graphics and the fact that they released it before it was finished. It still isn't finished. It probably won't be finished for another year or two because, instead of incorporating fundamental elements from DnD(pen and paper), like finishing the races and classes (adding Druids, Orcs, etc), they're wasting time adding random new stuff like airships and maps.

DDO has a good mail system, a good auction house, a great profession system, great environmental interaction (swimming, jumping, traps, altitude effects like receiving damage from falling a certain distance, etc) and better (even if graphically lacking) character design. If it weren't for it's graphics, it may even have trumped Guild Wars. It's even free-to-download, which goes beyond the ever-loved free-to-play. To sum, Wow simply "lacks" in many areas where other games don't
