iv just had an icd /pacemaker put in nearly 3 weeks ago .........im was put in2 the muscle due 2 me being quite slim as they say the pain has been horrendous .........stil not understanding the reasons as 2 why this has happened 2 me i know i might sound im talkin gibberish but alot has being hidden from me
None of you should be receiving inappropriate therapy, or being scared or prevented from exercising... have your company rep check your device and get them to tailor it to you. We put these in elite athletes... there's no reason you can't do exercise!
im 19 years old and i just had a pacemaker implanted in about 5 months ago. the pacemaker is under the left side of my armpit. I agree, the healing processes really sucks but after that, i feel normal again but i can't play in any competitive sports.
I'm 15 years old with a Boston Scientific AICD, I was diagnosed with right ventricular dysplasia after a near death experience. My life is ruined because of it, my local cardiac physical therapy center won't even accept me because of my age. I received 3 defibrillations during my first exercise after the surgery. I used to be able to go for 15 mile bike rides, now it takes me 30 minutes to get out of bed every morning.
Tell me about it. I'm about to get my leads switched. I've had mine for three years just about. The healing process sucks. Mine is Guidant Latitude. I got caught with Brudaga Syndrome, but somehow didn't die after four HA's over the course of five years. They found it when I had one and a stroke the same day while in a sitting position about an hour apart. When investigated with the ol' crotch-cath...bingo. The shocks are horrible. Think electric fence, meets car wreck, meets Chuck Norris kick.
my husband has to get his battery changed in the new year, he has had one for 6 and a half years. they reckon the battery should be changed every 7 yrs. as uyou say, better than the alternative.
I got my ICD last year with 16. I have Heart rhythm disturbance(ventricular tachycardia), this year i had 2 shocks. One at New Year's Eve (-.-). The shocks are 1 second painful, not longer , thats how it works on me ;) The operation isn´t bad, but it sucks, because they had to operate me 2 times....
I have already suffered 2 heart attack & have what my phsyican calls dangerously high triglycerides & LDL, and i was told that if i do not get these levels under control i will have another. This did frighten me and i knew i needed to do something to reverse this damage. I knew plant sterols were powerful so i tried Sterolyn, and i'm very proud to say that my triglycerides have gone from 512 all the way down to 155. LDL count down from 240 to 132. Great product.
I've had one for going on 3 years. I hardly notice it except for I have a scar on my left chest right under my collarbone. Mine went off 3 times. I can't do sports or lift heavy objects but i can go about my daily routine.
I had this procedure about a year ago and have been shocked several times. The shocks are definately no fun AT ALL so be very thankful you haven't had to experience that yet. I am only 19 so its very hard to be active without worrying about complications.
wow i have to have this operation on the 16th of march and im terrified , could anyone help me im so scared ive never had an operation before im a 49 year old man and ive had heart failure since 2001
Hi, I had this operation on Friday! If youre having a General Anaesthetic you will be fine but sore - make sure they give you good painkillers to take home.
If you are only having a locaI really strongly suggest you look into a general - I had a local for my pacemaker and it was horrible!
Your shoulder will really ache, and you cant stretch or move it too much to start with, which is the most frustrating thing. I can't wait to be allowed to have a shower when I have my stitches out tomorrow!
10:35 is an amazing moment

I've had one for 2 years, Operation was nothing, You don't even notice it most the time.

Theres a chance i might have to get one of these. I have either Atrial Ectopic Tachycardia, or sick sinus syndrome.
If its sick sinus, they might put a pacemaker in, incase i start having bradycardia.
