who ever said the iraqi people were terrorists. i thought the war on terrorism was in afghanistan against bin liner and his crew. i was under tyhe impression there are many nations in iraq following the removal of saddam hussein. as there are also in afghanistan.

yeah right i dont know about the usa but media here in the uk are scum with the fat cats like murdoc running them...they certainly do not speak the same language as the people.saddam is gone so let the iraqi people get on with living their lives is my opinion and i am sure most people feel the same, but i can only speak for myself.

They may have enjoyed the fruits of living in the US but that does not mean that they have to like their country bombing the crap out of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Fact is this guy understands the meaning of this song about as much as he understands Americans. The TRUTH the Eagles are conveying is that most Americans are untouched by this war and most dont give it a second thought. Lets be real.... This war has dragged on long enough! Our economy is on the brink of a crash and we are still spending billions fighing a war we could have finished in about a month. WAKE UP AMERICA

You imply there is some moral virtue in waiting until an enemy is so strong and comes to you, and then fighting them in a way that "involves" a whole society. Romanticised nonsense. The hourly casualties in such a war would surpass the total since 9/11.
Declaring victory and going home is not an option on the table.

My only regret is that my viewing this gives it one more point of "popularity"... what nonsense.
It's not hard to see you have pushed the meaning of this song into your own agenda.
This song is about conviction and shame of a wasteful culture and a war built on lies.
Just because the Eagles sing it doesn't mean all Americans are feeling the same way but the Eagles are and they have their right to express that.

The lies of the Kurds and marsh Arabs who are no longer gassed? the lies of the Kuwaitis who are no longer invaded? The lies of the innocent Iraqis no longer shot into mass graves? The Eagles-along with vast swathes of popular culture- seem intent on making us feel guilty for the fact that we are better fed, housed, entertained, informed and transported than any human beings in history. as usual people are reading between the lines of a pop song and using it to put accross a sad bucket load of political or religious bullshit shove your political views and religious beliefs (the causes of all the worlds misery) and see the song for what it is a tounge in cheek pop at all the greedy facists we have to put up with everyday. the eagles have seen excess on a huge level who better than they to point out the pitfalls of this society we live in.

yes there is! maybe the way usa and britain went about it was wrong and his execution was for me done very badly. but if you consider his crimes what more did he deserve.?
as for the song, i think he touches on more than just iraq, he is following up his longtime beliefs about the fat cat american way and the needless excess of the people.but there are obvious references to the war in the song.
