  • HOMOPOBIA//!!

  • I wasfortunate enough to see RM when they toured for 'Avalon' (remember when groups DID that?) and they were asn incredible live act.....arriving suavel attired in mathing designer suits, and by the end of the concert everyone has lost lots of clothing, hair is all messed up, makeup running down faces....aw, good times...! :D

  • Best version of Angel Eyes, thats a given... Here end'th the lesson.

  • So many bands ripped these guys off it's disgusting. Especially U2 and Talking Heads.

  • @jtomanthony ..and Duran Duran, Japan, Ultravox, The Cars, Human League, Depeche Mode, ABC, The Style Council, Radiohead, Coldplay, Bowie(early 80's), Tears for Fear, New York Dolls, Souxie & the Banshees(some members of the band first meeting at a Roxy Music concert) Be Bop Deluxe ..and on and on and on and on..Yes, it is kind of disgusting and quite blatant..By the way at U2's Hall of Fame induction..Bono, told the audience "Roxy Music is in our Hall of Fame".

  • The bass is very raw on this version!

  • @djh29971 I agree, that was the thing that caught my ear (never heard this song before). sounds pretty awesome IMO

  • For years, allI knew was the disco version. This one blew my mind. I <3 Constanze und Eveline! @ 1:14

  • Before there was Radiohead, before there was Oasis, before there was Coldplay, before there was Muse, there was Roxy Music. These bands should bow to ROXY MUSIC.

  • no..no..no..no..ROXY MUSIC then ultravox..then the cars...then talking heads..then duran duran..then be bop delux..then radiohead and on and on and on...

  • @801liveable be bop deluxe?

  • @everlastingleet Be Bop Delux sounds like Roxy Music gone heavy art-rock and makes a case for the cult reputation..Bill Nelson's guitar tone-thick yet ductile almost not like Phil Manzanera..

  • yez THIS band had it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A far,far better version than the gross disco pop single rubbish version! LOL

  • they have had some awesome album artwork over the years! loving this version too!

  • Its ok but prefer the dancey version of this as I grew up listening to that version.

  • I bought most of early Roxy on vinyl in the 80's, saw them live in OZ when?....Musta been in high school or young at least ,maybe 20? Now 55 this yr! Danced in the aisles!! It ripped, and the big big bonus was Split Enz were on first, they played their frist album mainly for then I think. What a great concert!!! Born as an instant fan of both bands. Going to Brisvagas tues to see them live...excited, hope GF digs them. Should be tops!!

    n

  • A great version ! Sounds like Ultravox with John Foxx.

  • @patermtube -actually, Ultravox with John Foxx sounds like Roxy Music.

  • @patermtube no..no..no..no..ROXY MUSIC, then ultravox..then talking heads..then the cars..then duran duran..then radiohead..and on and on...

  • @patermtube Please! Ultravox for the most part sounds like Roxy Music..

  • que c'est bon tout çà KOKO very gooddddddddddd just perfect song

  • Roxy Music lost so much of its originality when it got stuck in the disco/dance groove after Dance Away and this is a prime example of how brilliant a song Angel Eyes is without the horrible disco mix. It's fine if disco's your thing but give me classic Roxy any day.

  • Never heard this version, I like it a lot more than the one I have on CD somewhere, somplace in my house.

  • @Exilemainstreet lol I have never heard another version=wtf !!!

  • @zekedog111 ok just did- I guess they thought they needed money---o god roxy went disco!!= dam you radio gods to hell

  • This version is INTENSE

  • This is the CLASSIC Roxy sound... far far better than that disco mix.!!

  • Same here. Never heard it before. WHAT A TUNE!

  • Never heard this version. I love it. Thanks for the education.

  • i had the cd but when i heard this version at vintage vinyl i soo bought the lp !!!!!!!!!!!! love this version love the wondering bass

  • yeah i had the cd version and when i went into vintage vinyl and heard this version i was like wooooo way cool i bought the lp asap!

  • Both versions are great, but I really like this one.

  • man.. how could they do the song any different than this? this is definately the best this song can get..

  • I got the 12in single and it is nothing like this one at all. Where is it???

  • Does anyone know which album this is on? My copy of 'Manifesto' has a different version entirely.

  • YES!!! Thanks SO much for this! I only have Manifesto on vinyl and hadn't heard this song in *ages* (though I looked everywhere online for it). I prefer this version and am so glad to hear it again. :-)

  • Thank you!!!! I haven't heard this for years and could never find this version to download. I was beginning to imagine I had maybe just dreamed it existed once.

  • old school rules. the kids from today should listen and learn.

  • @paulsak59 now i see how our parents felt.

  • Wow what a good version, as I was only familiar with the other version. The music flows better during the lyrics being sung, but loses rhythym as the vocals are off between verses...

    Not bad tho....

    Kimmyskunk

  • this rocks! I love it!!!!

  • good version

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again...if you can't get laid after putting on a RM album...honey, you dead!

  • This is the "Angel Eyes" I remember from "Manifesto", not that pop/disco thing most people are used to! Bless You for posting this gem!

  • You are so right!! After this album, they started to turn comercial in a bad way...Their early albums were so original and ground breaking, but by the end of the 70's they lost their edge...

  • My favorite of the 80's new wave era. I just found it on one of my old cassette tapes, and went looking for it here. Thank you for posting it!!!

Its weird like when you have a favorite song from long ago, and you don't hear it for like, duh, forever!!! Like "towers of london" from a group called XTC, on the same tape as this one. Fantastic!!!!! woo hoo!!! Also check out "Generals and Majors" by XTC.

  • Absolutely one of their very best!

  • Very well thought out music.

  • The manifesto version here is so much better version than that discoey version. Groovy.

  • Yeah, it's much heavier and more textured. I was thinking, "Why is the single different" just last night. It also has more soul.

  • There's more bass too

  • awesome i used to go out with one of the harpists

  • when was this made?

  • 1979 when the Manifesto album came out

  • My favorite version...visceral, sticky, atmospheric!
