I really like the x101, but need Windows for work. I have preordered one and my plan is to upgrade the SSD for more storage and then install Win XP on it. Is the SSD easily accessible for a user upgrade? Thanks, and thanks for the video.
I look at the internet today and find out that the new version of x101h of this has a dual core n570 atom with 2 cores and 4 threads,.It has also larger hdd with 320g compared to 250g of 1011px but with a 3 cell battery so it will not last a couple of 4-5hours. Also the x101h in our country is much cheaper than the 1011px. So which do i choose? x101h with low battery or the 1011px with 6cell battery?
Excellent review. I have an Eee PC 700 that I'm finding v difficult to update the OS - I don't think it's easy to do on this machine, it's almost 4 yrs old. And I want to use a Linux OS netbook.
I really like the Eee PC X101 - the SSD and the $200 price. I'm willing to try the MeeGo OS but if I were to download Ubuntu - which I've never done - are there SIMPLE step-by-step instructions to get a 'Live' version onto the X101? I don't want to use Windows - me no like!
I would like to use an HSDPA USB modem for internet on X101 Netbook but I don't know which model is supported by MeeGo 1.2 OS? Can someone give me advice about this? Thanks.
@TheJENNINGSs I'm not seeing it anywhere there either. Was supposed to be released in both countries at the same time. Not sure why it isn't there yet.
@jnetman1 Im having the same problem really, the 1011px appears on plenty of websites but the other doesn't. What also buggs me is that the 1011px is £300 normally which roughly amounts to $420 (why is it so much in the UK?). You might be lucky to find it on sale for £200 but even then it still adds up to $308 US dollars ; yet you get it for the very good price of around $270.
We've been buying the 1011px, but seriously considering the X101 for the future - video out is the only thing holding me back. Could always buy each class a USB VGA adapter, but would need to work on an easy to use interface for it. Using one is still a pretty clunky affair.
I'm not aware of a dual-core with solid state, but hopefully the X101 is a sign of things to come from Asus.

Thanks for the nice review Jim. Received the X101 a few days ago and I'm showing to staff this week. Ubermix was meant for this baby!

Too bad nobody makes a netbook with a dual core processor and a 6-cell battery, but with a solid state drive (or am I wrong?)

Thank you, Jim. Extremely interesting and helpful. Which one will you be using?
