  • Funny how you have Gregg's fireman carry series favorited on your page.

  • hey Sambosteve, can you recommend any Sambo gyms in the chicago area? maybe i should experience Sambo first-hand before i criticize Pres. Gregg's technigue...

we have a large Russian population here, but i've yet to find a Sambo gym. any help you could give would be appreciated.

  • Well, Gregg is at MFS in Bettendorf. You canalways look him up. There are no formal clubs in Chicago, but there is a guy who teaches there. PM me for his info.

  • i've seen better teq from amiture Judo players...lame, dude

  • Are there any other kind of Judo players? Do any of them actually get paid for competing?

  • And btw, you're on crack. That was great shit.

  • I really like the third technique (starting at 4:18) I can see that being very effective and it reminds me of an arm drag in wrestling and looks similar to a russian tie on the arm (without the kurtka) in the finished position. I like shuffle in of the legs and hip placement to complete. Great technique!

  • I agree but the russian tie you step up and dont turn and throw with hips you go back as if to sup them and turn at the last for the finish. Not really a arm drag but a kind of Japanese Wizzer throw what do you think? I had to say Great show and Techniques my friends.

  • I understand what you are saying, I wasn't really meaning it from an application standpoint, more of how it was in my mind from a visual standpoint. I guess that is hard to convey via text. In respect to the arm drag, I have done a hip toss that is similar to this off an arm drag by dragging the arm across my body deep, almost like a drag by, and then throwing my hip in at the last minute and taking the person over.

  • Hate the text limit on YouTube :). Anyways, this throw is obviously a lot cleaner and more focused with the usage of the kurtka and once again, love the techniques :).

  • Well, yes, many throws can be stopped that way, but they still get used and work. Every throw has a counter/defense. You can say the same for a basic hip throw...hand placement and hip control, but people still get tossed all the time with hip throw.

  • Funny my friend that almost all these throws can be stoped with just a little bump and proper hand placement. I will show ya how and what I mean in one of my clips thanks. I think a few other things nice Teqs but I will have to look over exactly how he is using them. Your Friend Ty

  • what the HELL are you talking about?!? have you ever trained with real Judoka/Sambists?

sheesh...next thing you'll bring up is how you can "counter-attack his thumb" or something. Delusional TMA crap.

  • Hmm over 34 years of wrestling this is though Greco Roman Wrestling and Freestlyle, 24 years of Ju-Jitsu and only ya few years doing sambo but I love them all. I am a Blackbelt in Judo so im frinds with Steve and try to put my 2 cents in.When anyone goes into another Masters realm of understanding, You will have others making sure he or she is honest in his thinking. I goto the World and train with The Olimpic Judo and Greco team but you can stop throws if you know how. Simple as that

  • that's a great resume! so why do you feel the need to troll someone's video then? Its not a video about stopping throws, its a video about executing them, which is where you start. Notice the white belts around the room?

You are saying that Gregg Humphreys is dishonest?

  • Never would say that my friend Gregg is doing that, but if I was there he would look over at me just like in most cases and ask me what do you think and I would tell him. I look at the full teq and info then make sure I can help and to help is to defende and if 80% of throws can be avoid best to know the defence

  • Trying to make sure they work mostly on the upper always able to throw teq's and then have no issues and stay in the 80% true means. :)

  • Well sir, my apologies for misunderstanding your intent there!! I'm just sticking up for my man Gregg. I thought "hand placement" was going to mean some kind of awful ninjitsu madness ;-)

    all the best then, serge

  • Np my friend and all is well Serge and best I hope for ya and your doing great and all them steve and gregg is awsome and I care for these guys too be safe.

    Thanks,

    Ty

  • nice one mate keep the tips and the technques coming thanks

  • That was awesome video sambosteve, that instructor was great. Thanks for sharing.

  • SAMBO STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know the first technique, but you can do it more effective if you catch this head jump off on your knees and throw him over yourself. You fly way longer and it hurts really.
