i read that the phoney cop cars in "car 54" looked like real cop cars, aside from the fact that the phoney cop cars were painted red and white, whereas real cop cars were blue and white. the phoney ones were painted that way so they could be driven on the streets without fooling people into thinking that they were real. the filming in shades of gray made the cars look no different from real cop cars.
The irony and coincidences are unbelievable here. In the prior episode, they called Fred Gwyne's character a "Frankenstein." Now, they have Al Lewis confused with a Count! Just having the two of them on the same show isn't enough... Wow...
