Potassium bromide is in "enriched flour" in almost every loaf of bread in the US. Even if you buy your own flour and bake your bread yourself. Bromide is in our bread. Why is Hong Kong outlawing it and NOT the US? From what I've been reading, bromide can also destroy your thyroid by blocking iodine receptors from receiving iodine. Where are we getting our iodine now that we are encouraged to have "low salt" diets? Mmmmm..........

MSG is a "generally recognized as safe" substance by the FDA for a reason, and I can point to references on the Wikipedia entry (where there are proper references to studies you can read over yourself). The same goes for aspartame.

If you cannot provide evidence for your claims, then you are simply making baseless assertions.

Potassium bromate is still used in some places where they do baking, but the reason it's used is because at low levels it's used up during the baking process and no longer present in the bread (thus the bread is safe to eat). It's only a problem if the batch contains too much of it, leaving residual potassium bromate behind, which may have been the case with these chips. Still, to avoid the risk of residual potassium bromate, it's probably good not to allow its use.

I sell tea in the US so many idiots who ask specifically for teas not "made in China" because of the paranoia of additives. For one, we take pride in the tea we sell and I'm sure the Chinese and Japanese farms that grow it do too. Also, this is the first time I heard about potassium bromate contamination, never saw it on the news or groceries pulling Pringles off their shelves. Or is it legal over here?
