  • really clear way of explaining that stuff. i been playing classical 8 years and now the electric is taking my breath away

  • thanks

  • Dude you are great

  • One of the best explanations of how to use the pentatonic scale as far as key etc. Great job.

  • Man you rock and your knowledge of the Guitar is amazing. Thanks for the lesson, Cheers...

    Wayne..

  • I feel like you might not be teaching us all you know.... lol

  • I also like tonic!

  • are u in a band?

  • 2:39 well f*ck you

  • watt happened 2 ur original whammy bar

  • dude i wanna be like you! damn!

  • awesome!!!!!!!

  • The demonstration sounded VERY AC/DC influenced.....

    Until you started tapping.... :P

  • Dean, i've follow your lesson from beginning 1-2-3- until this video..

but i have a question for you..

what is different between ARPEGGIOUS and PENTATONIC???is that a same things??

    please tell me..... :(

  • @MrDeaN5350

In case you haven't been answered yet, arpeggios are broken down chords, and pentatonics, are 5 note shapes. Hence the term "penta"

  • great stuff. Thanks!

ps You look like a young Mr Spock (no offence)

  • nice shredding

  • ur fuckin amazing

  • how is that a 'demonstration'? thats masturbation. what a douche bag.

  • Thats a good one. Thumb up

  • You mess it all up because you just had to show off at the end. Jerk!

  • I guess its gonna be a bit before I'm ready for this guy's advanced lesson!?&?

  • Please do a video on pinch harmonics.

  • The licks and stuff sounded cool, but maybe next time break it down into how these scales fit into the pieces that you're playing

It seems like you're skipping the middle, going from first picking up your guitar to some kind of Hendrix/Hammet shredmachine

  • What just happened? lol You rock dude. Took me by suprise.

  • you rock :D

    5*

  • Nice lick in 2:17

  • This guy is the guitar version of the Asian Drum Solo. The guy starts out with basic instructions then when he actually plays he just goes off. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?

    Pretty damn good though.

  • coollll

  • awesome

  • umm at 2:54 and 3:02 u didnt show anything like that in the lesson part and i was wondering wat notes those are?

  • That was badass. Good job man.

But like others the scales kind of elude me...

I am (at this point) just a guitar player, not a true guitarist. :/

  • yeah me too, I never really bothered to learn scales even though I know they're essential to understand how to play good solos n stuff, I'll get to them one day :p hopefully

  • ur amp is crazy

  • hey are you a twin?????

  • when you started playing (about 2:42 i think) it sounded like acdc back in black :P

  • It's the backing track from that song.

  • yea thats what i mean :P only i think its slightly different. (but i never realy listen to the song so idk :P)

  • oh no your right its the same :P

  • ohh yah it does

  • this was really cool and all, but i dont get how u do all those solos and stuff, just from that scale! my guitar teacher is trying to teach me this scale but i have no idea of y this is significant...

  • There's only 5 notes. Slash, think this, slash plays with 6 notes. Blues scale. But he's really good in blues... I think is all time and time and practice, until u can shred in a blues scale. I hope it.......

  • I actually find i easier to shred in blues scale than in pentatonic...

  • when you play lead guitar and you change the key of the song the scale you play at will also change.. you wont be able to play lead if you dont memorize the form and notes of a certain scale :)

  • you have the same hairstyle that spock :D

  • @squaijis you look smelly

  • Yes I agree! I've just started modes and I'm not really sure where to use them, i don't think they're as easliy used as a pentatonic sacle...HELP!

  • i gotta quick question, y the fuck arnt u famous

  • Really great video to show the practical application... hahahaha, thanks man.

  • im gunna get this guitar in a few days xD

  • dude! did you make up the demonstratin? if u did then it was AMAZING and if it was a cover...it still was great! i love your tone and style :D

  • is that an ibanez rg 350 with a inf4 on the bridge and inf3 on the neck with a inf 3 single coil in the middle.

  • what amp is he using?

  • spider line 6 i believe :S

  • is teh demonstration an improvvisation?

  • From 2:40 onwards its FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • the run at 2:51 really impressed. Anyone have a lesson or sumthin on how to do taht?

  • You really like that Am scale, don't you Dean? :p

  • You really love that Am scale, don't you? lol

    Great videos. Keep 'em coming.

  • damn, you played so good! i wish i could take formal guitar lesson from you.

  • Dean you are crazy good at guitar. I am pretty good myself but not even close to how good you are. By the way nice guitar. I like Ibanez's but my personal favorite would have to be my Fender Telecaster.

    Do you have one?

    Well anyways, great video!

    5 stars

  • i dont mean to argue but it takes dedication to learn scales, and i dont see how he lacks soul and heart? I mean i enjoyed listening to his examples. If you can make something so tedious to learn sound interesting to other people i think you've got the soul and heart. Unless you didn't like his example solos?

  • wow all that tech shit off your trust fund?

i got to admit you are pretty awesome guitar player but you lack soul & heart

  • do you really know anybody that could put soul and heart into fucking back in black? the whole idea of a solo for that song is to make it sound good, there's really no feelingt o it at all

  • I have an RG350DX aswell, and I have to say it really serves me well.

The edge 3 never gives up on me and the sound is (as you can see in Deans videos), amazingly good.

I've played many guitars in big music stores, Ibanez's, Jacksons, ESPs, Deans, you name it.

Yet this cheaper (there are alot more expensive Ibanez models out there) Ibanez model is just perfect for me.

I guess it just depends on what your style and preferred sound is, so the most expensive guitar isn't neccesarily the best one.

  • IBANEZ FTW!!! I might get an ibanez grx20. I hear its a nice guitar

  • I was with you up until the demo. where you turned my brians into shit

  • From the looks of it I think he was playing the scales he was talking about earlier and just improving it into a good old fashioned AC/DC song.

  • Was that E minor blues scale demonstration improvised, or did you practice it before hand?

  • Dean you own so hard its not funny, becomes funny and then isnt again.

  • Dude, YOU ARE AT PROFESSIONAL LEVEL!

Become a pro. I would from your position.

  • professional is pro :P

  • Lol, Pro is a shorter word for professional.

  • nice stuff. and by the way what guitar is that

  • ibanez rg350dx, my friend has one and wont let me get it so i have to get the black version lol, they are very very good value for money, good pickups, fast neck descent bridge. sorry for babbling on... lol

  • how much

  • its about £279.99 in england, very worth it. Try and get to a guitar store and play on one. You wont be disappointed.

  • But the Edge 3 will eventually give up on you and you'll have to buy a Zero or a Pro

  • The Edge 3 has served me well for 5 years...

  • Wow, you probably got lucky then. I know many people who always complain about it. Well good luck and I hope nothing breaks =D

  • man, these are some great lessons. but i think my problem is that i can learn the stuff, but implementation is a totally different thing to learn

  • you need more stage presence in all of your things thats the difference between a great guitarist and a godly one. learn how to entertain those that dont play and youo will become famouse. stage presence is the key... p.s. your amazing Alan S

  • oo shit man, Dean i meant this video haha, where did u get the backing track? AND CAN U POST MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLEASE!!!!!!!! UR SOO GOOD!!!!..

  • dude the backing track is just back in black by ac/dc

  • thats just the blues scale in a you twit.

  • wrong, he plays the minor pentatonic in different keys and then clearly explains that the blues scale has 2 extra notes. do you even play guitar? or watch the whole video for that matter? just shut up

  • never understood that major and minor scale, never will..

  • anyone know the exact model of guitar he's using?

  • that my friend, would be the Ibanez RG350DX (:

  • i swear, you should enter the next Americas got talent or woteva

  • This guy has great Charisma, or however you spell that :p

  • i personally think it sound a bit cooler starting at the e string going up

  • ok i had it up til da demonstration. u fuckin shredded it up der man. ive learned more from u den i hav from my PAYED instructor a few months ago. dats sayin sumthin

  • OMFG he is tooo fucking goood

  • BACK IN BLACK!!!!!

  • how old is dean dimarzio oh yah tha kid who is a 1 man band

  • jeez man, slow down you're too good for the rest of the world:P

  • That looks alot more complicated to ply than Angus's Solo haha

  • Holy F***ing shit!

  • Omg that kicked fuckin ass!

awsome lesson man i've learnt alot from that

  • what ibanez is that.. it looks so cool!!!!!!!

  • It's an Ibanez Rg 350 dx white.

  • yaya ty

  • how old are you?

  • hah i just learned tht a week ago lol

  • BACK IN BLACK!!!

    Clever, Dean.

    Nice demo

  • cool

  • excellent

  • isnt that backing track from AC/DC back in black when you play the e minor blues scale

  • Yes lol.

  • man he couldve done it better than Angus himself.

  • hi i am friends with angus his channel is called gusyboyhehehe

  • hi I really dont care.

  • thanks

  • after you show the basics are you going to be teaching songs?

  • I learned this like 5 days ago too :D
