The fact is that after a beating like he got, it is quite safe to say that he is not pound for pound the best. Had he gotten closer to winning, then i might agree with you, but he was completely dominated. And yes i understand the concept of pound for pound.

If GSP were to beat Anderson Silva, then most people would agree that GSP is the best pound for pound fighter, However, if he would lose, then judging by how badly he lost we could determine whos the better fighter.

Penn has not had a relevant win since the first Matt Hughes fight, 4 years ago. He left the UFC, came back and lost to GSP, Hughes in the rematch then dropped down and beat nobody special.

Jens Pulver- Not a great 155 pd fighter, he dropped to 145 in the WEC

Joe Stevenson- has looked horrible since the Penn fight, may be cut soon from the UFC soon

Sherk- Looked horrible since the Penn fight as well, lost his last fight to badly
