One extra thing would be to experiment with the coin you use. I think Jonny G. uses a pound coin, but I found that the ridges on a 10 pence coin work quite nicely too.

I used a distortion pedal, and a reverb.
For the distortion pedal I set the tone quite low, and with not too much distortion gain. It'll sound very harsh on the ears if it's too bright/fuzzy.
You'll want to get this tone right before playing with the reverb.
The reverb I set with an almost 100% mix, with a time setting of around 4-5 seconds.
Tweak this until you get that nice "big" violin-ish sound.
