What your problem could be is an Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve problem. Mine just went out and the computer couldn't set the idle so it idled up to the rev limiter (3,000 rpm). bought a new valve and solved all my problems.

is that a 3.1? I have the same car. Runs like a champ but has the 3.4. It's the same exact car but has emblems that say Ruan Gran Prix Special Edition.

It did it on it's own. There was a problem with the engine, and this car is being sold to the junkyard

@Railfan02 Instead of letting the car over rap. why don't you try and fix what's wrong with it? try scanning it. it could be a TPS sensor or something.

@Railfan02 A glove box door, and a console door. as long as they're in decent condition and maroon. which it should be.
