I just have hard time beleiving she will be 70 years of age soon. She is one of those people i never want to get old so she can continue to sing forever.....she is just that much apart of me. I grew up on her and my mom said knew alot of her tunes while still in the crib and wearing diapers.
Great reminder of Aretha in the sixties...started collecting her Columbia stuff while in High School then got to experience this awesome Diva live in a small club in 64...great to have her back in top form & don't miss "Sweet Sixteen"...she nails it!
The only Queen of Soul...There will never be another...She reigns alone....Aretha believes in a healing God...I believe she is going to pull through this....
I read today where Aretha was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. God Bless you Aretha- My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult fight.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.

Aretha sang this amazingly, but the true genius is Carole King. Carole wrote this brilliant song for Franklin. Carole also sang and recorded her own version and released it on her Tapestry album a few years after Franklin. Carole King has got to be the greatest song writer in history. She has written a number of my all time favorite songs.
I was born 10 years after this was recorded, and am left in tears by the beauty and power and purity of her voice. Where did popular music go wrong? Why do we celebrate the image managed mediocrity of the Lady Gagas not the modern day equivalents of Aretha Franklin?
hye, hello!! thanks for the information.. but they aren't I'm sorry.. I have been looking for both singer, and both has a very similar voice, and kind of soul songs... both sings the same song too"summer time" ( thanks for guessing the song to which I referred) .. but I've heard other songs by they, and are not the singer I am looking, but you are getting close. I remember of another song: "a man about the boy".. i looked for that song, and I found nothing.. well I'll keep trying.. but you are on the good way, I was wrong with the period of time...
@Equinox2290 Perhaps... JANIS JOPLIN... was big in the late 60s and early 70s. She does a really soulful rendition of Summertime. I'm glad to be of help. music is one of the best things in the whole universe. It would help to know the race of the woman, or names of any other songs she wrote or even any other artists she collaborated with.
Hye!! well.. it was definitely Bily Holiday.. I have been looking for her and listenig a lots of songs (not them all!! she have a hundreds of them)... and I'm sure that is Billie Holiday. But like it's about 8 years ago that I don't listen her.. I remember her songs diferent... but it's because of my...

Wrong. (You make me feel like) A natural woman was recorded in 1966 and released in 1967. So it's a 43 years old song (or 42, if you pick the release date as your reference).

im 18 and im crazy 4 this woman what this woman does vocally espically in 70s is 2 amazing to even put the words together i luv this greatest singer alive
Aretha's voice makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
This is either mixed well, or just sounds good on my laptop speakers, because Aretha's voice is at the forefront of a lovely basic arrangement, particulalry the horns section.

maybe because from the queen of soul she turned to the queen of steak houses? i deeply respect aretha, she is a legend of the world of music, but the fact that she s lost all the grace and fever she had is evident. she is no more queen...i mean she is, but just for the books. in reality the throne is always held by powerful.

Aretha, although it's not very "man-like" I must say that your song "Natural Woman" from Carole King always let one or two tears role down my cheaks. Your power is so great and so warm. Thanks for sharing it with us :-)
As if one needed any more proof of the Queen's healing powers...all seven parts are just fantastic!! She REALLY was the Dr.Feelgood that she sang about in this special...sung from the heart and soul!!

"Before the day I met You, Life was so unkind, but your'e the key to my peace of mind" Only one Man can make me feel....thank You.
This song has been beautifully sung by many Diva's but none have done it as much justice as Aretha.
