Healthcare is not a responsibility. Healthcare is a human right. All this is insurance companies mudding the water. Demand universal healthcare. This is killing and bankrupting americans. Criminal.
I wouldn't mind having universal healthcare. but a main argument I've heard opposing this is that in countries with universal healthcare people have to pay more taxes.
don't forget the waiting lists too that comes with universal health care. access to waiting lists is not an access to health care.
countries that doesn't have such waiting lists there are huge taxes. i heard that in Denmark the waiting lists isn't long but the danish government taxes citizens heavily.
what are you talking about? every system is going to have people waiting.
better to just tax people upfront, than to run the patient into bankruptcy only to have the govt tax more in order to shore up the amount the hospital was shortchanged by anyway.
If health care was completely privatized, trust me, people would not be waiting. If you had to pay out of pocket every $ that the doctor was going to charge you, you would go less - right? So would everybody else.
That would lead to less waits, less demand and lower costs. The government certainly did a good job with our retirement plan (social security), well let's hand them health care too!
The truth is, the government is selling us on these ideas to get money for wars.
Consumer Driven Health Plan is a fancy way of saying the patient pays more. They "give you choices" but each choice involves paying more than a traditional healthcare plan. HDHP stands for HIGH DEDUCTABLE... This is obviously bad for the consumer. Ultimately this type of plan is cheaper for the employer who provides it which would be fine if the whole country were required to operate on this type of system.
young people who are healthy should look into this type of insurance because the premiums are lower, and you are protected in case of a major illness...and if congress allowed insurance companies to compete in out of state markets, the costs would really go down alot....
Everyone pays a little in taxes, and Everyone gets benefits.
Something is fundamentally wrong with a company who indirectly profit from human suffering. It is more profitable to allow to somebody to die than to make them healthy. That is a fact.
there is a good book that explains this...by paul zane pilzer....making consumes more accountable for their health is a good thing. and would drive down the cost for everyone....the 80% who are healthy would pay less, and the 20% who arent would pay more, until competition lowered the costs even more...remember how much it used to cost for long distance calling and how competition brought the cost was down, the same could happen for healthcare...
this is really dumb. none of this confusing crap should exist - the government should cover everyone who is not covered by insurance from an employer. I would rather pay more money in taxes if I had piece of mind.
Stupid...we need universal coverage as this is assanine. Figures Bush would like it. That fuxxxing loser ran the country into the ground with his incompetence. Health care is a right and the government should provide it to all. His fat mother Barbara is in hospital now...she has nothing to worry about since she is rich. I wish she didnt have coverage and croaked like the rest of the uncovered.
Yeah - no Copays. Instead say hello to COINSURANCE, which means instead of paying a lower out of pocket expense to see a doctor ($25/visit) you now have to pay a percentage of the contracted rate your doctor has with your health carrier (could be $133/visit). I worked at CIGNA HealthCare and had an HMO plan with a $30 PCP Copay. Then about four years ago they forced all employees into a CDHP. I was paying $120 for a PCP visit!
This video is catchy and informative, but know this Coinsurace>Copay

You may pay $120 for a PCP visit, but you're also paying maybe $200 less a month in premium. In the end, you are still saving money.
