Wow, I didn't know they grew tobacco in France. I grew up on a tobacco farm in the Southern U.S.. The crop was always harvested by hand, cut and put on sticks. It was latter hauled to the barn on a wagon where it was hung on tiers till it cured. Then the leaves were removed by hand, graded and separated before being taken to market. This type of tobacco was called burley.
