@SilhouetteVengeance maybe cause how can someone have that tone without using a noise gate its imposible maybe the pickups do the whole work and keeps the noise out
@MatKiller1197 using a tube amp and silent pickups, passive + tube amplifier practically makes zero noise, i dont get any noise from my emg hz and blackstar ht-1, neither my vox valve.
@k03dnoob passive doesn't have anything t. And oh, most active pickups actually produce less noise than most passive ones. Because they have less wounds of copper wire, and don't pick up static that easily. And yes, thats actually a fact, not an opinion.
Your HZ are more likely to pick up static than my 81+89. Try it in front of an old computer screen.
@CHARMINOO Chris is perfect for Megadeth... not many people can actually learn a setlist of 30 songs with crazy solos, including Marty's... Only one guitarist other than Chris could pull that off, but I don't think he plays in 4/4.
at the end of the day... they all try to emulate marshall... Marshall is still the standard... The name means nothing really... Even Marshall... the truth is there is no secrets.... people put way to much emphasis on gear... good gear will not make a bad player sound good... nor will poor gear make a good player sound bad... i wish i had one!!! but it is fucking expensive come on blackstar little cheaper!! and also when i saw a lot of gus g interviews when they ask him about his gear and he is saying that he is using a morley bad horsie that when you move it automaticly activates i think a bbe boost pedal for solo and providence chorus pedal beacuse he thinks that if someone put a lot of pedals on the amp it fucks up your signal. if you dont believe me go to my profile search my favorite vids and you will find it!!!
@ArchieIsted they always promote the hell out of lesser-known companies like Blackstar but then always seem to revert to what the industry standard is, in this case Mesa Boogie. @ColmIncendinall i would strongly disagree. Many bands use hot rod marshalls or Peavey stuff. Even blackstar is more popular now. Not everyone like the same tones
@ArchieIsted true, fair point. More so with modern metal artists, but the main point is what MfGrimm0503 was saying, which is artists promoting products and then actually using different equipment. Dave Mustaine went on and on about his signature Line 6 head and literally weeks later he was back using a different head. As well as Trivium endorsing Dean guitars but then switching back to Gibson and Jackson. Its just kinda strange.
@ColmIncendinall to be fair... the SM58 and Sm57 are just simply timeless classics... Metal shows can be kinda rough and well... those two mic(really the same mic with a different top) are tough as hell... so kinda makes sense.
@MfGrimm0503 I think skillful guitarist like Gus G. can be endorsed by Mesa, so he doesn't need to use Mesa Boogie and pretend that he using Blackstar. Because if he prefer Mesa Boogie he can easily have it.
@metsuun dude i disagee. Gus G is an amazing guitarist no doubt, but hes not the type of player for Mesa. Gus G plays for ozzy, Mesas are more for like John Petrucci in dream theater. but, not gunna lie, mesa's sound killer. I wish i had one, im stuck with Vox's and Blackstars lol. Hey btw, good amp you may want to check out, Carvin's.
@metsuun Wouldn't know why you would go from blackstar to mesa in the first place.
IMO Bugeras sound better than Mesas, they just aren't as reliable nor expensive. But if i wanted an expensive endorser then i'd go for VHT or DAR anyways.
Mesa is never my first pick, could someone tell me what the hype is all about?
@molomono I played on a Mesa Dual Rectifier and it had an insane amount of gain on it, I set it up to match my kind of playing style and it was great for metal, jazz, rock...I suppose versatility is what's all about Mesa.
@MultiMusicman97 Blackstar Series One 45. Blackstar are killer amps. I own a HT-Stage-100 and I love it! Really affordable for the sound you get. And it's really versatile.
I'm not digging this amp at all, hope the head and 4x12 version has more ass to it b/c this is waaaaay too midrangey with no low-end or punch whatsoever. Nothing against Gus at all, haven't heard a good Blackstar amp yet.
@groovebrew Its not the amp its the speakers'problem...I gt my s1 212 cab at home due to shortage on stock of s1 412 and I felt the same thing you do even I run different heads through it. Try change the speakers. The amp/cab itself is pretty good in built quality
@xuan8839 Yeah, I had my expectations pretty high when I heard the company was founded by ex-Marshall employees, is that right? Was wondering why Gus even went with these guys but to each his own, can't slag the guy for having an endorsement when I ain't got shit! ha ha ha Cabs are definitely a game changer, I just got a discontinued Basson 2x12 & even w/the shitty stock Eminence speakers that thing is devastating!
@groovebrew well,I personally think that blackstar is doing ok. I gt this pedal and in the context of drived tone it absolutely beat many pedals, multieffects & smaller heads flat. i ve owned few blackstar amps/pedals as well. pretty gd quality and tone from that kinda price. No matter how many brands out there ,blackstar always have the best functions provided to ppl like me. Emulated outs, 1/10 power from s1 amps even 5 watt amp there is FX loop....these satisfies players like me so well.
THat dpends. Some amps just sound terrible, but high gain =/= muddy tone. I hear the notes just fine. Lots of clarity. You have been listening to too much Eric Johnson if you think this is a muddy tone.
I strongly disagree. It in no way makes an amateur look amazing. You only find an amateur amazing if you are also an amateur. Anybody with experience can look right past the tone and hear the actual notes being played. For example, Gus's song fire and the fury might have a good tone behind it, but even novices should be able to hear the cliche riffs and licks being played in that song. It sounds good because it's organized well, but it's still cliche.
@GameJourney if it helps, i agree with you. My peavey 6534 sounds amazing, but gets muddy-ish at super high gain. also, you can sound fuller if you decrease the gain. in a band setting or with two guitarists, it is sometimes essential if you dont want to sound like a jackass trying to overwhealm the music as a whole with your freakishly insane gain
@kwijboymtl don't worry man, it changed to about 3000 and I managed to get ahold of one. I'm in Australia. I think you can still find one if you look around and they come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Gus.
Do you really need a distortion pedal with a Blackstar?

@MultiMusicman97 Blackstar Series One 45. Blackstar are killer amps. I own a HT-Stage-100 and I love it! Really affordable for the sound you get. And it's really versatile.

I'm not digging this amp at all, hope the head and 4x12 version has more ass to it b/c this is waaaaay too midrangey with no low-end or punch whatsoever. Nothing against Gus at all, haven't heard a good Blackstar amp yet.
groovebrew 5 months ago
@groovebrew Its not the amp its the speakers'problem...I gt my s1 212 cab at home due to shortage on stock of s1 412 and I felt the same thing you do even I run different heads through it. Try change the speakers. The amp/cab itself is pretty good in built quality
xuan8839 4 months ago

Emulated outs, 1/10 power from s1 amps even 5 watt amp there is FX loop....these satisfies players like me so well.

man i hate his tone so much. no low end whatsoever

No such thing.
Fluffypopcicle 5 months ago
@Fluffypopcicle Too much gain makes it muddy. There is such a thing.
GameJourney 5 months ago
@GameJourney
THat dpends. Some amps just sound terrible, but high gain =/= muddy tone. I hear the notes just fine. Lots of clarity. You have been listening to too much Eric Johnson if you think this is a muddy tone.
Fluffypopcicle 5 months ago
@Fluffypopcicle We'll settle on the fact that I'm not a fan of this much gain. It makes an amateur sound amazing. Like certain Line 6 amps.
GameJourney 5 months ago
@GameJourney
Fluffypopcicle 5 months ago
@Fluffypopcicle NOTHING ever became a cliche without being good first.

@bedroomshred6661
Being good FIRST, but if you make a song based off of cliches that have been done for decades then you aren't very original.
Fluffypopcicle 5 months ago
@GameJourney if it helps, i agree with you. My peavey 6534 sounds amazing, but gets muddy-ish at super high gain. also, you can sound fuller if you decrease the gain. in a band setting or with two guitarists, it is sometimes essential if you dont want to sound like a jackass trying to overwhealm the music as a whole with your freakishly insane gain
