  • Unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!! There aren't too many people that have played the instrument that play it with THAT FINESS!!!

  • I've seen Buddy Rich,(a few years before he died)Ginger Baker, John Bonham and Carl Palmer live just once. Carl Palmer did THE best live drum solo I've ever seen!

  • hopa!

  • Without a doubt.I saw ELP at Wembley Arena in 1974 and Carl Palmer's drum solo was second to none.

  • Mother of drumming!

  • Thanks for posting this. Amazing hands.

  • you know, I justed watched the travis barker snare solo, and now I know where did he got the ideas from

  • carl palmer è un mito alla batteria e anche al tamburello. carl palmer the legend!!!!!

  • I've seen Buddy Rich, Neil Peart (as well as Kansas and A7X) and others in concert. I haven't seen Carl Palmer. I now feel incomplete! I just turned my drumsticks into kindling. :^)

  • Don't know what to say..............?

  • Welcome to the machine! Carl Palmer is the machine.

  • Why use a whole kit when you can do That much with one single snare drum ?

  • Carl is, with Peter Erskine, Dave Garibaldi and Danny Gottlieb, one of my favorite drummers, but, I think he's the best ever on snare. A drummer like this borns once every 100 years. Pure class. Amen

  • One snare and two sticks, and he can do more than 95% of drummers out there.

  • @zxcv1234vcxz let's say 99%

  • @Johnwilmot2007 - When I said 95%, I meant Palmer with a snare and other drummers with a full kit.

If both were using the same gear, then yes, 99%.

    .

  • This is being a skilled musician.

No fancy equipment, just pure talent.

  • MR. DRUM!!

  • Carl, you are the MAN!

  • You see, that's whats fucked, people insist on comparing everybody, every drummer brings something new to the plate and thats what makes music exciting

  • @J2112gallardo totally agree.persoanl favs are subjective just like the musical content...i suspect that those with the most to say arent very good themselves.except maybe in their dreams..............hehehe.cat amongst the pigeons tut tut ....

  • that's called " Pimpin' ain't easy"

  • that's called " Pimpin' ain't easy"

  • Outstanding. I miss eLp ...

  • Sorry, but BR makes this guy look like a hack.

  • The best I have ever seen on drums. Right there along side Buddy Rich.

  • This is great. Sad that Carl Palmer's legend has faded over the years with younger drummers. If you talk about Carl with a 18-25yo drummer they will be kinda lost but if you mention John Bonham, they know every note Bonham played! I remember a time when people were lining up to transcribe his solos or "Brain Salad Surgery" or something. He is awesome.

  • @SCOTTBACHMAN Carl Palmer's work should be part of the curriculum of any serious drum student.

  • Brilliant!!

  • i call robot

  • I'm still amazed that rock drummers use open hand techniques...

  • @bigroo84 That's how I learned...

  • Virtuoso.

  • That was amazing indeed! Thank you for posting!

  • I was at a ELP concert in MPLS. in the mis 90s and Carl did a solo that was so overwhelming that it had people in tears...yes you heard right, in tears. One person in the crowd removed his shirt and wept into it I have seen all the greats over my 50 years but nothing like him...wow. The greatest.

  • THE POWER WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW..

  • What!? One hand playing two drumsticks while holding only one of them! Bloody hell!

  • line up all the Best drummers in the world. give 'em a snare. settle it.

  • @alkimst13 What a great show that would be!

  • Best of the best, no question about it!

  • this man is incredible and what he does with the drums is simply magic.

  • the master!

  • And remember, he's playing like that "today" 60-somethin ........damn, I hope I can be that vital at that age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • stunning! the Hendrix of drummers

  • EPICO el Maestro Carl Palmer!

  • masterpiece...great solo

  • DAMM

  • Unbelievable talent. I'd have liked to see him go up against Buddy Rich.

  • & this is just only a snare, so can u image what a four piece drum set with cymbals can do when Mr. Carl Palmer puts it to work? x0]

  • Hooray!!!!!!!!!!

  • U BLOW

  • The King of the sticks!!!

  • I saw this at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last weekend, where Carl did a special guest appearance. It worked on all levels, wonderfully so: drumming, design, cinema, sound, everything. Please bring it to DVD in American soon!

  • ...perfect...

  • Terrible

  • My first concert was ELP at Cobo Hall in Detroit in 1972. I was 15 years old. This is why I started playing drums. I still find Carl Palmer inspirational to this day. What a talent.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Carl years ago! He was a great guy, very personable!! He played a drumroll with his left hand only!!

  • @rainhampaul

That's what a drum solo is basically.

  • Wow, a MASTER, thru and Through

  • With a little more practice he could be pretty good.

  • That is the best i have ever seen !! I did not think it was possible, blown away

  • 1:39 ¡¡¡ the best

  • Carl Palmer looks like my wife

  • Well we know were Jeff Queen got his tricks!!!!!

  • ChicoLopes: He is the second best! The Best one was Animal ( w3.utubeDOTcom/watch?v=eDU-ZyBQRnQ ) !

  • The Best Drum Solo I have ever seen!

  • Inspirational, excellent control and stamina, thanks for uploading.

  • i enjoyed this so much more than his "tank" solo

  • Fantastic

    The best of the world

  • how wonderful - a perfect way to show how underestimated percusions are!

  • he is amazing i had no idea how many sounds you could make with just a snare!

  • It doesn't get much better than this for technique and executuion. bravo carl palmer. And bravo for that snare drum. what a nice sound.

  • back in the late 70's, i thought that Carl Palmer could do more just on the snare drum than most drummers could do on an entire drum kit. Well, 30+ years later, here is proof that I was correct. ;-)

  • stunning ..

  • Yowza!

  • CARL IS KING!!! END OF STORY

  • 1:38 ...interesting

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

  • It's so laughable when you see comments on Youtube saying such things about Palmer saying e.g. 'crap, one of the worst drummers EVER !' etc (maybe not on THIS particular post but check out some of the others). How is THIS man a useless drummer by ANYONE'S standards ? (especially when the negative comments come from no famous wannabes or non -drummers !!)

  • Just F'in amazing. Any of u older drummers notice the new guys are all about feet and playing fast ? Don't see any of them master a snare the way Palmer, Paice, Bohnam, and Peart do and did. Too busy tryin to play a 1000 mph ! Just my take.

  • THE BEST of The Best drummers of history

  • My favorite drummer since I was 9 years old. Please release this in the good ol' USA! I will buy 2!

  • Palmer and a snare drum, I clicked the thumbnail as fast as humanly possible

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment. Andrew Cross

  • A few days ago I received this IKON DVD, is simply amazing and the work of an excellent producer and director.

  • 1:39 - 1:45 fucking insane

  • Amazing! Will a DVD be released in America soon?

  • We are working on getting an NTSC version of the DVD for the USA in the near future. It will be announced at on the Carl Palmer website.

  • sings like a wounded Buffalo though.

  • Carl you are the snare drum master !

  • Fantastic.
