  • Ah .....the truth hurts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He is trashing the suspension when you could clearly see that someone was pushing on the hood up and down. Now that right there was to portray that Town Car worse then it was. Now lets look at BL and the cars it produced in the 70's. Oh wait, they were on strike 99.995% of the time and didn't build cars really. But when they did, they were complete trash, longer on one side then the other, rattling because pieces were falling off, rotted from cancer, and I can go on.

  • I love my Towncar! I gave my old one to my daughter to drive and she love it too.

  • He, he. I think even Clarkson has to admit that 70´s British cars were "rubbish"!

  • Let's see a British car from the 70's as a comparison. Eh? None exist? Fancy that...

  • First of all, I do love American cars!

But a lot were made with a lot more to wish for when it comes to general quality!

I know a lot of these cars well maintained could make well over 300k miles, but most didn´t!

Why? To be honest, the only way these cars made high miles was because the spare parts were almost for free! (And still are). Got a -93 Crown Vic myself, and a new shock absorber costs like a pack of cigarettes! Try that on any modern car!

  • celebration of men made material lol .......

  • Not Top Gear, it's actually Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld.

  • Clarkson didn't do his research... that's a 1980-89 Town Car. If you're going to hate on American cars at least try to sound what you're talking about!

  • wtf. he thinks he's in the position to criticize someone else's hair?

  • Problem is, he's absolutely correct, american cars of the 70s, 80s, and most of the 90s, were absolute crap. And this is coming from someone who LIKES american cars.

  • @rudolphna54

agreed, the top trim trans am and camaro were pretty sweet though.

    shitty.... but sweet.

  • compare this to a British mini.... the original one......lol what nonsense is Jeremy talking, i bet he loves his mini.....and its not the car i allude to.....British cars are junk and now are owned by Indians.....lol

  • Jeez he sounds like Early from Squidbillies xDDDDD

  • Dammit Mertle, I can't figure out a way to make this steering wheel square! I got my square dials, I got my square dash & my square body, but the steering wheel it's circular, ruins the whole car!!!

Jeremy has the best impression of an texas American accent!!!!!

  • On the bright side, if you got into a head on collision there is a lot of metal in front of you.

  • @tigerfanfanatic72 Well, it can still crumple like shit and your v8 will be pushed backward into the interior of the car and crushing the people in the front seats. Old cars are not safe, not even Volvos from the 1970s or 1980s are that safe.

  • 1:11 change the shock absorbers and try again that's definately not normal

  • @clubtcb More like 'put the shock absorbers back on that the crew have removed for comic effect'. The thing is that it's silly trying to compare a 70s US car with a 70s Brit or European one- they were/are designed for completely different things. An Austin or a Hillman would be just as out of place in the Midwest as that Lincoln would be in the Midlands- it's designed for a land of cheap fuel, big car parks and long distances.

  • There's nothing wrong with those classic american cars, actually i'd pick one over a european car of the period anyday. What most people do wrong is wanting to drive them like a european car. Those wobbly suspensions make those cars actually quite comfortable to drive just keep in mind to adjust your speed when cornering. The big size; again offers more comfort. As for the engines: don't expect neck-snapping acceleration that's not what they were built for. These car were made to cruise in style

  • @clubtcb I agree. The Lincoln Town Car was and continues to be a great highway cruiser. The Buick LeSabre, which Clarkson has ripped on, rides a lot better then his precious jaguar is reliable and gets 30 mpg on the highway.

  • @clubtcb Those hideous old boats deserve to go to the crusher. Absolutely fugly. At least a gas guzzler should be fast... Also, the giant size is not "luxurious" its ridiculous. My Mercedes is normal sized but is 100% comfortable.

  • @JtothaR06 You got to get into the mind of the designers of those days. If you have a huge country with big straight roads, large intersections and often long distances between relatives. why not build big cars? this car can easily seat a family of six and the trunk is large enough to hold all their luggage also the big engine is capable of greater mileage than a small engine would so who cared if it wasn't fast? gasoline was dirt cheap in those days

  • I think it's cruel to call Jeremy a baboon. although I think a baboon could do a better american accent

  • Good god, what is wrong with the suspension?

  • old american cars are most comfortable cars have been ever made, SAUDI ARABIAN DUDE :)

  • @MrAligsf

Did you ever drive a Citroen DS with hydro pneumatic suspension?

  • His mullet sure goes well with that shitty southern accent.

  • I will agree with him, those early ford panther cars were complete shit. Horribly unreliable and they'd eventually shake apart. I still love the fact that they are more 'Merican than any pickup or suv can ever imagine, and thats why i've owned 5 Lincolns and currently have 2.

  • In America all the Jaguars from the 70's and 80's are pretty much all scrapped.

  • @rompn4x Well...british cars are the worst cars ever made. If you want a very good european car , buy a german one.

  • @ioanpena lol guess you havent seen or heard about the likes of Roles Royce , or Aston Martin or Bentley

  • @goonballer Bentley has a vw engine from Phaeton and anyway 99 % of the people cannot get close to these cars and iam talking about cars not luxury items...

  • @rompn4x Which is a real shame, because even though they were about as durable as a sheet of tracing paper (whereas many 70s and 80s Mercedes are still cruising around), the old Jags were very pretty cars.

  • @jacketman22 Yeah I can't disagree they are good looking.

  • my 73 thunderbird definitely does not rattle...or smell its the most well built car ive ever driven

  • funniest part is probably Jeremy commenting on other's hair

  • If it was a british car, jeremy would be going on about how all the shortcomings made it absolutely brilliant. Can't you hear him? "This car is utterly useless ... but I don't care."

  • His forefathers were thieves and looters, went around the world stealing and thieving.

  • Brits are the biggest racist scumbags on earth, they lost their empire and now are reduced to a shytty little island and are jealous of America. They wish they had roads to drive cars this big in their little crappy dark dingy gloomy island, I've been there and God its a depressing country and broke, all people eat there are fish and chips.....lol

  • @yusafzai08 I think many Brits would be quite proud to be called racist scumbags. But you're wrong about them being jealous of American cars. No-one is jealous of American cars, except perhaps Cuba. American cars are terrible, and most Americans who know anything about cars know that, too.

  • @Kathilisi you know nothing of American cars, I have a GMC Yukon, and can fit half of UK in there, it has 225,000 miles on it and drives like the day I bought it....needs nothing, can you say the same for a British car? any car still owned by the Brits? These cars are made for American roads and this is a 30 year old car, you should see the new American cars......solid.

  • @yusafzai08 says an American I assume, if you had really been here you would find it is like anywhere else, there are good and bad places, look at Detroit, that looks like a dumping ground if ever there was one.

Cars this big are crap and you know it, european cars are centuries ahead technology wise, america is just as if not more broke than the uk, you are really uneducated if you believe that america isn't in trouble as well, were all in the same situation world wide im afraid.

  • @yusafzai08 P.s. we didn't 'lose' our empire, we gave it back to the respective countries, and we also have a lot more than just fish and chips, get an education, it's like me saying all americans eat is burgers because I know thats not true. moron.

  • @sporttrophy cuz you were smart, you knew the natives would beat the crap out of you and you sensed it was smarter to just let go after bleeding them dry for years.....UK is built on the loot of India and other places.

You give something back that you own in the first place, it was not yours to give.

am a naturalized US citizen and am proud to be an American because Americans never stole from different lands, instead America gives to nations while the British stole from nations.

  • @yusafzai08 You are talking out your ar** mate, the US is just as guilty as any country, remember that immigrants from all over europe settled in america in the 1st place wiping out the vast majority of the indegenous population.

Then lets ot forget the war in Iraq, thousands of innocent women and children killed in the pursuit of oil, britain gives millions of pounds worth of aid every year to foreign third world countries, you need to get your facts straight before spouting shi*e.

  • @yusafzai08 p.s. we 'sensed' it was smarter to give countries back there land, what are you chatting? we owned it, thats it, we didnt feel obliged to give it back we made that choice.

Are you saying your whole family tree is native american indian? If the answer is no at some point then your just as guilty as the rest of us so stop pointing the finger.

  • I love my waterbed suspension and soft cushion in my 88 park ave.

  • I know that car technically terrible, but I still like it, don't know why..

  • Fucking bamas, dont know shit about big pimpin

  • There's nothing like a big old boat from the 80s to not feel the road, in a good way...

  • If a square steering wheel is needed, find one from a '63 Chrysler. They had them.

  • holy shit his southern accent is nearly spot on xD

  • @nintendoatarikiller not even close

  • @nintendoatarikiller Where did you hear that accent your compareing it to lol

Im from the south, we sound NOTHING like that lol

  • Comment removed

  • @TexianPride I meant hillbilly accent.

  • @nintendoatarikiller I suppose it sounds like the hollywood Hillbillly accent.

So compareing his accent to that is reasonable lol

    Southern accent though.

Sounds nothing like us much to harsh and forced, its got to flow smoothly

  • I'm American and I completely agree. These cars were terrible, and built like junk.

  • I own one of these old boats. In fact I call it my Yacht. Everything he criticized is what makes it fun to own (minus fuel consumption lol), soft suspension means it rolls everywhere, the length just gives it leg room and the breaks? Eh mine is an 82, they seem to be better than the ones he has there. It's by no means a performance car, true.

I like it, but more importantly my friends love it. Everyone always wants to ride with me when I bring that car around, it's just that damn comfortable.

  • well - brits never made great cars and they don't make great cars today (ok - mclaren mp4 -12c is good but even then brits themselves admit that it's not as fun to drive as ferrari 458)

  • Doesn't it know that it's hip to be square?

  • Jeremy Clarkson's full of shit!

  • Things are, somewhat different in Japan

  • this one was built on monday

  • hes always talking sh1t about american cars.....

  • 0:04 of course you stupid british... down on the americans.

  • hahaha "damnit Myrtle"

  • sharing a bed with a baboon with itching powder xaxaxaxa

  • I have owned a few British "sports cars" including a TR7, they were impossible to upgrade, the engines were as weak as a tea bag on its third use and they all had lousy suspension. At least American "sports cars" could be easily upgraded and getting HP out of them was not a monumental task as with British models. To be reasonable the only cars of the era built worth a damn were German and Japanese.

  • @Temptuous2112 - Yeah right, we still build Bentley's, Aston Martins and Range Rovers, and they are all great - american cars are overpowered tortoise shells with flashy lights and brakes like butter & metal, THEY JUST DON'T GO TOGETHER

  • @TheMediaMasters "american cars are overpowered tortoise shells with flashy lights and brakes like butter & metal, THEY JUST DON'T GO TOGETHER"

Absolutly non of that made any sense.

The thing is, in the 90's when US cars were so restricted in H/P euro car fans bashed them for not having enough power......now people like you bash them for having too much power, yet europe builds plenty of 500+ hp cars.

  • @TheMediaMasters I was being specific to the time, there are very few cars built in the 70's or 80's that were worth having. I like the Astons although they were V6 cars yet had good suspension. That said they were very expensive, a 1968 Aston would run about 15k american, compare that to a 68 Stingray or a Ford AC Cobra at 5-6k with 427 and 428 cubi inch motors. I rather have the Vette and Ford and spend the 5 k on gas.

Not that I wouldn't like to own a 60's Aston, very nice car.

  • @TheMediaMasters Anyway the comment was about a 1980's vehicle, nothing built in the 80's, British or American was very good. Only a few cars built in the era are worth discussing and in comparison the British models were overpriced.

The best vintage sport cars are from the 60's and a few in the 50's. With American cars of the era they were built with the idea that the middle class could own a top end sports car.

  • @Temptuous2112 that's not true, there were many great American cars in the 80s, I give you Plymouth Voyager and Ford Taurus

  • @kernals12 Oh I am sorry, I stand corrected! lol

  • @kernals12 Something must have happened to the Ford Taurus between the 80s and the 90s. I had a '95 Taurus, which lasted 160,000 miles, by which time it was on its 3rd engine and 2nd transmission. It blew head gaskets every 50,000 miles. The brake rotors warped and had to be turned often because they were too small for the weight of the car. The electrical system was crap. The cruise control failed and opened the throttle all the way while I was parking the car once. Incomparably awful car.

  • @galoon you had one bad experience, and was it a good car when it worked?

  • @kernals12 It was fair. The transmission(s) never shifted smoothy and tended to be reluctant to go into the next higher gear. It got relatively poor fuel economy for a V-6; less than 20mpg in the city (even with conservative driving habits), about the same as a V8 Corvette. The good points were its comfortable seats and large cargo capacity (it was a station wagon). My first car, an '80 Buick Electra wagon with V8, was a better car all around--and it got the same fuel economy as the Taurus.

  • my mate bought one of those town cars from his trip to america and brought it back, it was too heavy, suspension was shit, too big, too thirsty, an effort to go fast but fuck it was a lot of fun

  • He treated american cars, even tho that car seems good, and i like long cars, is just too much, and a V8 for that, it is not fuel-efficient at all, plus suspension problems. Thats why i say americans didnt think too much when building cars, they didnt know what the word fuel-efficient meant, before we taught them.

  • Im British. Lived in Vegas for a while and drove a 66 thunderbird. And this video is so accurate. Really made me laugh

  • American impression made me lol.

  • I had a 86' Lincoln Town Car that had almost 300,000 miles on it when we sold it.

It was one of the best cars we ever owned.

They can brag about thier tiny ass Euro cars all they want but i could ram one, scrape it out from under the fender well and keep going.

  • @trucker5933 Assuming you didn't understeer and crash attempting that maneuver, just a thought

  • You Englishes will never understand the concept of the American car. They don´t need your small and uncomfortable cars because U.S.A. is a large country, with wide streets, large parking spaces and by the size of the country, you need a big and comfortable car for long trips! Suspension soft?? Americans do not need stiff suspensions to make curves! America is a whole straight line! Not your old, tight, and poorly designed cities and roads full of curves! Ok?

  • @pauloararaquara true. ish. We have big comfortable cruisers too but they consume less and are a more manageable size. these cars are too big and their performance poor as a result of poor design. and because we are an older nation than you, our cities had to accomodate traffic after they were built. we are a small country so we make the most of our space. and actually, firmer suspension and shock absorbers mean than the car doesnt wobble like jelly, yet still handles a bump like a boss

  • @MrWoodoop Dude, I'm sorry I said about the British, their cars and their cities in this way, the reason is that the vast majority of British and Europeans want to judge things from other people based on their reality and their way of thinking! Each car of each region have their way to be not in vain! The British cars are understandable according to your country, as well as American cars are understandable according to USA. Imagine crossing a country of 10,000 km in length aboard a Mini Cooper!

  • @MrWoodoop And I'm sorry to say too, but the american cars don´t consume as much fuel as you think, nor the british cars are so fast compared to the americans as well as you think (60´s and 70´s american luxury cars performs de 0-60 in about 7 seconds)! European cars are "gas guzzlers" as well as americans. And I say this with impartiality, because I am brazilian and I understand both ways of making cars! American cars and european cars are great, each in his way!

  • @pauloararaquara but american cars weigh twice as much and often have 6-8 cylinders... they were christened as gas guzzlers for a reason. the psychology in america was and often still is the bigger the better. cars were made with huge engines for reasons you described but also because of this mentality and the cheap fuel from america's large oil resource, which is fast running out. So now they are turning to foreign cars which are suited for this era of motoring.

  • @MrWoodoop Really. Now you proved to be a Briton who understands the rationale for each. You see? While the fuel was plentiful and the USA with its vast extention, this was the ideal form to their cars (and it were "delicious" cars), today things are different, everything changed! USA Today is in the era of "downsizing" and are as advanced as the Europeans in fuel economy and technology.

  • @MrWoodoop Previously Europeans had small cars and small engines not due to consumption, but the reality of their little space due to the small extention of their countries!

  • @MrWoodoop Here in America it is common to see houses, garages and streets with triple the size of Britain, or Europe in general! Our roads are wide and straight, then nothing more relative than you have then, giant cars with giant engines!!! And as gasoline used to be so plentiful and cheap ... For what reason would the Americans want cars with tiny engines 1L to 2L? Now things have changed "just because of the global fuel crisis"!

  • @pauloararaquara im sorry but things have changed in america because the car manufacturers didnt think ahead. the design of the older cars like the one in the video were just inefficient and heavy (the bigger the better philosophy). These cars were just not necessary. big cruisers? 60 mph was a challenge because of their weight! I know they fit the big roads but to be honest they're unnecessarily wasteful in every sense. If america carried on making these cars, we'd run out of oil twice as fast.

  • @MrWoodoop Man, how can you dare to say that 60 MPH is a challenge for a car with 400 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm? Do you know how much means a force like that? A 2-ton car with 400 lb-ft is like an 1-ton car with 200 lb-ft (equivalent to a VW Polo with a 3.0 6 cylinder engine)! Have you ever drove or get a ride in a Cadillac or a Lincoln to you know how is the magnetude of silence, comfort and interior space of these cars? I think not! And if you knew how, you´d think differently about them!

  • @MrWoodoop And I say more: you Europeans have a habit of saying that American cars are heavy! Funny: a Lincoln Town Car (the heaviest of Americans), which measures 5.6 m long and 2.0 m wide weighs 1800 Kg! Exactly the same weight of the Audi A8 and 150 Kg lighter than the Mercedes S-600! Who is the heavy here?

  • @pauloararaquara And yet the audi does 33.6 mpg whilst the lincoln only manages 20.8. The audi performs better, has better build and engineering qulaity, and looks far better than the lincoln. I mean, why do european and japanese cars in particular sell a lot in america and american cars dont do so well abroad? And that is a modern day car. the old american cars are a different matter. The audi weighs a bit more because its crammed with technolgy and features.

  • @pauloararaquara and now I say more: the audi has a smaller engine by a full half litre, yet produces 130 more horsepower AND 40 more lbs ft of torque. why? because it is the better car.

  • @MrWoodoop First: I'm not arguing which is better, I am discussing the lie about the "heavy car" while Europeans are much heavier than the Americans! Second: I'm talking about the "old" American cars (the date of this video), by which time when AUDI was a "perfect junk" and had no car to compare with the Americans. Just to compare: The Buick GNX 1987 left BMW M5 1987 eating the dust! OK? (The 1987 GNX "still" doing European cars eating dust in 2011! Hahaha).

  • @MrWoodoop If you want to use European cars of today to compare, let's use American cars of today as well! Want to talk about 2011 AUDI A8? Let's talk about 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, OK?

  • And more: What you said about the consumption... Sorry, but is a lie!!! AUDI A8 - 21,6 MPG Look: car-emissions com/cars/model/audi/audi+a8 Lincoln Town Car - 23 MPG Look: fueleconomysearch com/search-by-manufacturer/2002/LINCOLN/TOWN-CAR/Auto(L4) Yes my friend, the Town Car as well as lighter, consumes even less fuel than the Audi A8 "Super High Tech"! hahahahahaha

  • @pauloararaquara That is the saddest comment I ever saw, do you understand what the word "life" means?

  • @yatter1 Ahh yeah?! And who do you think you are to say for someone what is life or not? Are you my psychologist? Dude, everyone has their point of view, ok? I love the European cars and American cars, each in its way! Each one has its way of being for some reason, for each situation of his country, market and economy! I just don´t admit lies and preconception against things over which we don´t know! If someone would talk "shit" and lies about an European car, I'd be in favor of Europeans too!

  • @pauloararaquara What the blue bloody hell are you talking about "dude"?

  • @yatter1 Man, YOU came here and said to me based on my comment, if i understand what the word "life" means... And i giving to you my point of view about american cars and european cars (That´s i was talking about on comments, no??? That´s what this video is talking about, no???)! So, what the hell YOU are talking about? Sorry if i can´t understand any point of your comment!!!

  • @pauloararaquara I appreciate that English isn´t your language, forget it.

  • @yatter1 If you ever read in my comments, I am Brazilian, however, yes, I understand well the English language. But if you want, we can talk in Portuguese! What do you think about it? Thank you.

  • @pauloararaquara Cheers guy

  • @MrWoodoop If you want to enter the sites to check the data on fuel consumption of the A8 and the Town Car, do not forget to put the (. com) on the links. I had to take the "." of th link because youtube blocks it!

  • @MrWoodoop Have you heard about the 1987 Buick GNX? It was a sedan with 5.1 m long, 1575 kg in weight, 3.8 liter 6-cylinder supercharged engine, 300 HP at low 4400 rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque at low 3000 rpm too! Accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds and hit 144 mph! It was a heavy car? It was a slow car? If you want to check what I am saying, watch this video: youtube.com / watch? V = 8wc5z0ycGJE Now you could check what is an american car!!!

  • my budy has something with suspension like that and i love it for that reason lol

  • The car might perform like crap, but it has more character than most of the shit you find on the road these days. Therefore I would love to own one.

  • I love that car! If only they were as beutiful nowadays!

  • 94 feet long

  • lol my grandma had this same car, same color as well

  • ITS LIKE A CROSS CHANNEL FERRY HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • i still want one of these

  • If I'm honest, I absolutely adore that car.

  • Coke can in the door, tuna sandwich under the seat, I believe British cars had the same problem at the time

  • what is this european nonsense?

american cars of the 60s,70s,80s>all eu trash/jap shit

  • @ThaTrueLegend of those 3 decades an american manufacturer won le mans 4 times. European firms shared the other 26. Early american mass manufacturing techniques and ideals yeilded good results in the short term. But they havent evolved. The rest of the world went smaller engines, better suspension more power per CC. american plodded along with petrol V8s. The pinnacle of american cars, the corvette, only lost its leaf springs this decade didnt it?

  • @Imreadingthisaloud I don't think you can some up the past three decades of automotive engineering like that. All continents had such variations of cars. You say europe went smaller engines and better suspension...well, europes ALWAYS had smaller engines, because big engines weren't essential, and the average european pre-70's would struggle to afford the petrol. As for developement, well some euro cars did, some didn't. My brother 90's Vauxhall, still had manual choke for example.

  • @Imreadingthisaloud .....and handling, try driving a 70's or 80's Rolls, and thats a luxury car it wallowed like a whale. I owned an 83 Triumph. It handled terribly . You'd accelerate from a junction, the wheels would spin, and you tried to steer, it'd go in a straight line, and that was a part Japanese car.

American plodded along witth with V8'S? Not entirely true either. The 80's saw more 6 cylinder engined US cars.

  • @Imreadingthisaloud "the corvette, only lost its leaf springs

Spring, not springs, don't go thinking it's like an old pick up truck. There was alot of advantages to the leaf spring on the Vette. It wasn't a bad thing like everyone thinks. It maybe an old concept, but then again, so is most things on the automobile, but like all old concepts , it had been developed into something good. In fact, Porsche actually looked towards to the Corvettes leafspring as inspiration for the panamera.

  • @v8cool1 so when porsche were looking to move people around in comfort they looked to an american sports car for comfort? lol says it all doesnt it? arent there multiple springs on the set up? its made up of layers and there is one each side isnt there? and i never said europe went smaller, you mis quoted me on that. Anyway my comment was to try and open a somebodys mind, not to insult. Sorry if you were offended by it

  • @Imreadingthisaloud "its made up of layers and there is one each side isnt there? "

Nope. The Vette one piece going from left to to right made of a single piece, not multiple layers.. And don't worry, I wasn't offended by it in the slightest, just giving abit of insight into US cars that alot of people don't know.

  • @v8cool1 well u learn something new everyday, so can i ask what the reasoning behind a single piece spring is? other than cost effectiveness? a single spring covering both sides means its non independant rear suspension, like a torsion bar?

  • @Imreadingthisaloud It creates a lower point of mass due to it's positioning, weighs less,It's easier to install and modify and building. It's stronger than coils, and reduces body roll using fewer componants as it acts as both coil and rollbar. It also reduces the effect of unsprung weight (Ie, the weight from hubs, springs, etc)

Yes the Corvette does have independant rear suspension, but it still acts like a torsion bar.

  • @v8cool1 Im not sure where you got that from but the Panamera has McPherson coilovers in the front and a multilink suspension at the back. Multilink type suspension is something European cars have had for ages. So if anything Chevy got it from european cars.

  • @Lillie1986 Extract from a patent list

“Porsche AG, 2000 patent # 6029987, Front Axle for a Motor Vehicle. Describes a strut suspension system supported by a transverse leaf spring system largely the same as that used by the Corvette. The Porsche patent mentions the beneficial stability effects of this arrangement”

  • @v8cool1 Hahaha what? It says "largely the same as that used by the Corvette" in the patent list? Im sorry but if Porsche has the patent doesnt that mean Corvette took it from Porsche?

  • @Lillie1986 No. Corvette was, and has used leafspring right back to the 50's, so I'd say Vette was at it first. It means that Porsche saw the Vettes leafspring, came up with an idea thats similar in concept to the way the Vette spring works because they saw many benefits to it..

  • @v8cool1 So I cant find any info on what car was the first to have independant traverse leafspring suspension first, but I know the corvette wasnt the first. The first corvette was built in 1953, the british AC Ace was built in 1951 and it had it.

  • @Lillie1986 I wasn't saying the Vette was the first in the world, I was saying it had it before Porsche.

  • @v8cool1 No you said Porsche took it from the corvette, which is obviously untrue. Besides its not at all the same type of suspension on the Panamera as the Corvette has.

  • American cars are like American women.....pretty to look at (sometimes), but all plastic inside! :)

  • @danosverige I agree!

  • Damnit Myrtyle!

  • We have come a long way since then and we know what handling means

  • Miller!!!!

  • If you purchased an American car in 1976 it would probably still be running. A Jaguar on the other hand would have broken down around 1977 and today would be worth about 50 dollars!

  • @save16thave What? Are you stupid? If you bought an JAGUAR E TYPE today you are rich, and the same for some other models of JAGUAR.... IF you bought a lincoln you will be poor and you will receive 50 dollars for that shit car.

  • @emanuelfonseca123 Take it easy, man! No I am not stupid. The XKE and XK120 are two of the most beautiful cars ever built. But, if you would care to admit it, Jaguar has a reputation for poor reliability. Anyway, different types of cars are made for different purposes. This Lincoln was made to be a comfortable and reliable cruiser. There are also many American cars that are worth the same or more than an XKE. No disrespect to you or any other Europeans, this guy just insulted my national pride!

  • How long was it really?

    20 feet?

  • I would to purchase this model of Lincoln right now if I could live in USA :)

  • That Lincoln Town Car is GORGEOUS! I want one!

  • the european cars is mutch beter handling, but not half as comftirbale as the americans!!

  • @unbracedkevbot HA HA

  • everyone who is bitching needs to get a sense of humor.I think some of the best cars ever produced by America are classic cars / muscle cars and a couple super cars,But i don't piss myself every time he says something negative about them.

so grow up,learn to laugh at your self and don't get mad at stupid things

  • God some of you guys need to learn to laugh at yourselves. I actually own one of these land barges and while they are comfy to drive at a sedate pace and are representative of the American luxury cars produced at that time, they handle like a bouncy castle on custard. They were produced for a public that believed handling meant "softly over bumps".

  • @b1g1lz How do you park those things? :O

    They're huuge, they HUUGE!

Hahaha, the idea of you driving a 1970s Cadillac through Paris all of a sudden springs to mind!

  • @fabaum22 Firstly I live in New Zealand not France and secondly the Lincoln Town Car is made by the Ford Motor Co, Lincoln being their "top of the line luxury model".

  • @b1g1lz Well said sir, well said.

  • @b1g1lz All so everyone needs to remember the mid 1970's is when American cars started to become junk.

  • Americans can make decent cars. Only requires a global economic meltdown, massive corporate restructuring, new engine, chassis, designers.... roughly four decades after the original oil crisis.

  • @mofo309 1/5 americans can't find USA on a world map and you want them to make a decent car?

  • @player1vladimir 1 out of every 5....i call that bullshit...maybe babies but not grown americans

  • @clokedbigman its statistics its data from the USA government and the test was not made on babies.

  • this is a comfy car

  • Town cars are awesome, he's just jealous his shitty country can't produce anything bigger than a mini cooper.

  • @fivepointohpwr land rover
