I liked Sg1 & SGA the only problem to problems I had with SGA was as you said recycling plots but I can deal with that but bit what really got me was the way the ended it and made no sense way they would not just have got the ori to take there ships out there and own the wraith but yes SGU was something I would watch to go to sleep

Yeah, SGA had it's problems that I don't like, but in the full scale of things I see that SGA should have never should have been cancelled. Now, SGU I hated. That show has so much bad writing in in it. The acting was good in it, but the characters were mostly idiots. I didn't really like or hate for SGA, but it was a far FAR better show.

the biggest problem the series had was that there were no great characters, SG-1 and Atlantis had extremely lovable and funny characters. Universe had none.. One thing to note to the uploader - "recycled" isn't actually appropriate to describe the Asuran/Replicator story arc. If anything, it added continuity considering that while he had Ancient knowledge, O'Neill designed the first Anti-Replicator weapon. Now then, how did the Ancients have any idea how to break molecular bonds of that type unless they had previously dealt with the same problem? Just food for thought.

@rageagaintstheNWO If you're referring to 7x16 "Death Knell", you obviously missed the fact that they smiled at the end because they had finally managed to down one of Anubis' Kull Warriors and rescue Carter, and they needed something to chalk up as a win considering that the Jaffa and Tok'ra had withdrawn from the alliance. Anubis was also at that point becoming more focused on destroying/enslaving Earth and they had the responsibility of defending an entire world from him. SG-1 wins in drama.

I completely agree with the video poster SGU was trash and I can't understand for the life of me what appeal this show would have to anyone who likes SG-1 or Atlantis. The truth is that SGU's focus wasn't about exploration of space or even of people. It was just a bunch of whining depressives stuck within a few walls with a space theme to it. SGA went down hill when they started recycling ideas, but at least the characters were likeable. Cancelled? Two seasons too late!!!!!
Have watched all of SGU so far. The majority of episodes are really awful. But, there have been a couple of good episodes, certainly the last two with the civilisation descended from the alternate crew. But, even that was like a rip off of a Star trek DS9 episode! As for actors, my faves have been David Blue as Eli Wallace, and Louis Ferreira as Everett Young. Otherwise its not good at all.
They'd really be better off letting the fans create a new show.

I only saw SGU's pilot. I thought the first part was probably the best pilot for a science fiction show I'd ever seen. Then, however, it predictably became more mundane, and demonstrated what they were going to be doing on a weekly basis.

OP, you say that you disagree with SG1 fans, but you actually agree with them.
1) I would say the fans are right in any argument, given that they are the audience, and without them, you really cant even have a show, as with no viewers no go.
2) What Ive read fans complain about, is not that they want the same thing as previous SG series had, but rather for this show to actually be scifi VS pure drama. It needed adventure, sentient aliens encounters, and 80% less of soap crap

I think all the Stargate series suck except the 1994 movie, they are almost completely broken away from reality logic and reasoning where science almost becomes magic.

The original Star Wars Movies were great and they werent always good on logic either. I think SG1 and SGA were both really great in the end. And so was Firefly. And those were all canceled way too soon.

SGU was not doing worse than Caprica, and the cancelled marathon was last year, not this year. Anyone reading this can verify that as I have done.

But after a lot fo searching, every mention of it I could find was of the 2009 one. There are no mentions of this on Google news.

Well, I'm glad real life is viewed by this man as just action all the time and no real life emotions. I don't like people and their drama either, but it's integrated in this show in such a way that if this scenario actually happened, it's believable. There is a deep-seated inner conflict in this television show that uneducated people can't grasp. Military vs. Civilians is just the tip of the iceberg. This show is also reminiscent of prison camps where people were isolated for long times.
i actually love SGU.... think it just need the old fans of both SGA AND SG-1 to let go of the old view and look at this as a new direction.

I hated Stargate John Sheppard ... it had the same plot all the times, nothing new ... it was a copy of Sg-1 ... and a bad one ... replicators, asgard ... it was god until he 3rd season until the replicators appeared ... maybe Sgu is not about action but i like it more then Sga ...
I like all three shows in their own right. I do find SGU a little too gloomy, but I think that can (and will) change. I think they know they need to lighten it and bring more camaraderie to it to win back some of the old SG fans.

I really tried to enjoy SGU. I sat through every episode with gritted teeth while my brain whittled away like candyfloss in a drizzle. Grafted onto the SG franchise like some grotesque third arm, this show begins insulting its views from the outset. They tried to throw the old recipe book out and make this one much more mature and they succeeded. Its at least as good as SG1 and WAY better than SGA. It is supposed to be a different show then SG1 or SGA. The creators spent 15 seasons with the same forumla and have now with SGU decided to do something totally differnet. IF you don't like the new show.. then don't watch. SGU is character/drama/arc driven while the others were acion/adventure with more self contained stories(of couse there were SOME arcs)

Yeah, SGA had it's problems that I don't like, but in the full scale of things I see that SGA should have never should have been cancelled. Now, SGU I hated. That show has so much bad writing in in it. The acting was good in it, but the characters were mostly idiots. I didn't really like or hate for SGA, but it was a far FAR better show.

One thing to note to the uploader - "recycled" isn't actually appropriate to describe the Asuran/Replicator story arc. If anything, it added continuity considering that while he had Ancient knowledge, O'Neill designed the first Anti-Replicator weapon. Now then, how did the Ancients have any idea how to break molecular bonds of that type unless they had previously dealt with the same problem? Just food for thought.

@rageagaintstheNWO If you're referring to 7x16 "Death Knell", you obviously missed the fact that they smiled at the end because they had finally managed to down one of Anubis' Kull Warriors and rescue Carter, and they needed something to chalk up as a win considering that the Jaffa and Tok'ra had withdrawn from the alliance. Anubis was also at that point becoming more focused on destroying/enslaving Earth and they had the responsibility of defending an entire world from him. SG-1 wins in drama.

I completely agree with the video poster SGU was trash and I can't understand for the life of me what appeal this show would have to anyone who likes SG-1 or Atlantis. The truth is that SGU's focus wasn't about exploration of space or even of people. It was just a bunch of whining depressives stuck within a few walls with a space theme to it. SGA went down hill when they started recycling ideas, but at least the characters were likeable. Cancelled? Two seasons too late!!!!!

Have watched all of SGU so far. The majority of episodes are really awful. But, there have been a couple of good episodes, certainly the last two with the civilisation descended from the alternate crew. But, even that was like a rip off of a Star trek DS9 episode! As for actors, my faves have been David Blue as Eli Wallace, and Louis Ferreira as Everett Young. Otherwise its not good at all.
They'd really be better off letting the fans create a new show.

OP, you say that you disagree with SG1 fans, but you actually agree with them.
1) I would say the fans are right in any argument, given that they are the audience, and without them, you really cant even have a show, as with no viewers no go.
2) What Ive read fans complain about, is not that they want the same thing as previous SG series had, but rather for this show to actually be scifi VS pure drama. It needed adventure, sentient aliens encounters, and 80% less of soap crap

Im a huuuuuuuuuuuge fan of stargate, I would blow Jack O'neil If I could and Im straight! but I must say.... that this show has alot of potential, but they have made TERRIBLE mistakes in the plot but specialy in little tiny details! like in the Incursion episode, okk... the luccian alliance are a bunch of farmers with no technical or engeneering knowledge what so ever and they have access to practicaly ALL the goaul'd technology left behind! why they dont use it?! I mean... instead of using -->

I'm a SG-1 fan, because it was based on science fiction. This show is a soap opera based on MTV degenerates. I hope children scream and cry throwing mounds of shit on the writer's wherever they go. The fact that they're breathing my air irks me to no end.

Well, I'm glad real life is viewed by this man as just action all the time and no real life emotions. I don't like people and their drama either, but it's integrated in this show in such a way that if this scenario actually happened, it's believable. There is a deep-seated inner conflict in this television show that uneducated people can't grasp. Military vs. Civilians is just the tip of the iceberg. This show is also reminiscent of prison camps where people were isolated for long times.

i actually love SGU.... think it just need the old fans of both SGA AND SG-1 to let go of the old view and look at this as a new direction.
seems most folk now want this to turn into the same old story as sg-1 and sga! what are you all thinking! we want to view different things not the same old stuff.

I hated Stargate John Sheppard ... it had the same plot all the times, nothing new ... it was a copy of Sg-1 ... and a bad one ... replicators, asgard ... it was god until he 3rd season until the replicators appeared ... maybe Sgu is not about action but i like it more then Sga ...

I like all three shows in their own right. I do find SGU a little too gloomy, but I think that can (and will) change. I think they know they need to lighten it and bring more camaraderie to it to win back some of the old SG fans.
I echo the sentiments of this reviewer being terrible. The irony is tangible, as much as he thinks the show sucks...he equally sucks at reviewing. No intelligent argument at all. "It sucks...don't watch it" is basically all he said, and it took 8 mins?

Battlestar Galactica, isn't as soapy as people say it is.....It explores varies themes, from political to mutiny, it's science fiction too.
Pretty much most sci-fi series have started of very boring especially season 1 of TNG, and as the series progressed it got better and better.
And SGU second half of SGU is better especially the season finale,it brought back the original stargate formula.

I´m not a big fan of SGU, but your IQ can't be very high. For 8 minutes i heard no real arguments whatsoever to why SGU sucks. You just repeated over and over that the show sucks.
You mentioned that you usually don't do reviews for TV-shows, there is obviously a good reason for that. If we are talking about wasting time watching videos, then this must take the price of International time wasting championship.

I don't think the shows amazing, but its still good. I am a huge stargate fan and I have let the old shows go. Now we have this one and a good 2/3 of the episodes are good. Maybe there are a few stinkers but there are some real gems too. Thats about on par with the other gate series. 2 good 1 poor.

I really tried to enjoy SGU. I sat through every episode with gritted teeth while my brain whittled away like candyfloss in a drizzle. Grafted onto the SG franchise like some grotesque third arm, this show begins insulting its views from the outset. I couldn't give a shit who some greasy, depraved fatty gets a hard-on over, like he's supposed to be some personified version of me. Produced by psychoanalysing, check box filling chopsticks this "modern narrative" fails on all accounts.

Also , you sound like a 13/14-year old so its understandable that you feel that way , you are way too young for this. They tried to throw the old recipe book out and make this one much more mature and they succeeded. Its at least as good as SG1 and WAY better than SGA. It's true that they borrowed a lot from BSG , but is that a bad thing? Do you really think BSG was bad? I personally think its one of the best shows ever.

It is supposed to be a different show then SG1 or SGA. The creators spent 15 seasons with the same forumla and have now with SGU decided to do something totally differnet. IF you don't like the new show.. then don't watch. SGU is character/drama/arc driven while the others were acion/adventure with more self contained stories(of couse there were SOME arcs)
