  • Nice Tribute... I'm sure it has been pointed out before, and I hate to point out the obvious but I don't have time to go back and read everything. You credit CS & N ~But the song Ohio was written by Niel and recoreded by the 4 of them.

  • Thank you for putting names with the song. I have long been moved by this song (age 10 in 1970) but never really knew who the "4 dead in Ohio" were.

  • I hope beamer, that you still come here and read the comments. If you don't . . . well, I still want to put down my thoughts about your project.

I was 19 in May, 1970. I lived in Ohio. I was a member of the Ohio National Guard, although a different unit than was at Kent State. The shootings occurred on my sister's birthday.

  • @plantagenis I do in fact check back here regularly. Thank you for your comments. I sincerely apologize for my error in what happened on the hill. Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn't able to use sources outside what my school had allowed. This was rather annoying, as the sources had very little to say about this event (and seemingly had incorrect information, as noted by many here). Again, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It's an honor to hear from someone who lived through the era.

  • When I saw the images that night on the news, so many things flooded through my mind – a tidal wave of disgust, shame, disbelief – more than anything else – and the realization that the nation I had signed up to serve was willing to kill its own people rather than allow them freedom of voice. That day changed my life, literally.

  • It's easy for people now to sit back and say “they deserved it,” or to point their fingers and say the ONG soldiers were attacked. The fact of the matter was – and still is – that all ONG soldiers are trained to handle such situations without resorting to panic or anger. They were in full battle gear and nothing the Kent State students were throwing at them would have had the least threat to their safety or their position.

  • The were not chased up the hill, as you say. They withdrew there to regroup after a confrontation. There were many minutes that passed before they intentionally formed an attack line and – at the orders of their commander – charged over the hill and opened fire.

  • Two of the four killed were not even part of the protest nor had they ever been – they were simply on their way to class. Twenty others were wounded, one sentenced to a lifetime in a wheel chair. He was not part of the protest either.

It's easy for people to say “they deserved it” but they weren't here when it happened and none of them have the advantage of the training I and all ONG members had – when it occurred. Nothing can ever excuse this and nothing should.

  • Let the ignorant fascists say what they will; your tribute is beautiful. I cried when I saw it. And, even though you wanted to use “Ohio” as the music, I think that “My Immortal” is an even better fit.

Thank you for this; from me and thank you for them.

  • i was 12 years old when this happened. For some reason my teacher commented to us that the students were asking for it because they should not have been protesting. When I told my Dad what she said he got so angry he went down and talked to her. you see my Dad was a college professor at Loyola University in New Orleans and he had taken part in many demonstrations against the Viet Nam war. I remember the posters they made. I think he even cried when they announced what happened on the news.

  • the heart of this government was bought by lucifer long long ago. May they happily burn for eternity for ordering those troops to shoot to kill. May the murders of these innocents live today and know your fate for all time is to fry. Satan will cook your legs and hand them out for dinner to your coherts in this senseless blood soaked day of the innocents. you will never be forgiven.

  • Too bad for stupid robotized music rights enforcement :(

We lose music but still have the arguing.

    1) People who protested the war because they felt it was wrong did their duty, and as you see them face the Guards you CANT call them cowards.

    2) People who fought in vietnam besauce they felt they had to stick to their gov decisions did their duty as well

    3) One cant live without the other

    4) I can understand emotional behavior when it's actuality, not when it's history

    5) Endless story

  • I did(WE DID) what I had to do in Viet Nam.For God, Country,Honor.Something you may not believe in .But your father and Mother do.And your name says it all( LONER)So go back to school ,study hard, and graduate.many a young man paid the price for you to do this. And if I was your FATHER I'd SLAP YOU UPSIDE YOUR HEAD IN FRONT OF YOUR FAMILY.

  • @BEJUCAL If you were my dad i'd punch you.

  • @BEJUCAL strange way of showing your patriotism. not how my father, uncles and a lot of other family and friends i knew groing up felt. they knew it was BS. war is murder. plain and simple. just cause you dont know them dont make it easier, they still have someone who loved them. these kids didnt deserve to die anymore than the people you killed. the people who got killed on either side had loved ones, mothers, fathers sons and daughters. heres an idea, go slap yourself. sheep.

  • @BEJUCAL ya..i find know point in saving our country (and yes i mean the U.S.A) cause its become corrupted by greedy ass politicians and soulless soldiers who only join to just kill...why dd we have to go straight to war? why didn't we just compromise? you know do something called truce? i know why we didn't...the U.S. is to proud to do that. they don't want to be the bigger man and call a truce..the just want to fight, fight, and fight. they probably think mercy is weakness..its not

  • @BEJUCAL i agree with everyone else..if you were my dad die have kicked your ass or at least have attempted it...but i mean the US has no honor anymore...this isn't nam..back then yes there was honor..now there is no honor...the US has bee taxed to hell..i mean..people have to pay $6 to get 1 pack of cigarettes...the US is just greedy now...for land, money, and power...we have a pointless fight going on in iraq

  • Let's not forget that besides the four that were killed there were also nine wounded one of whom suffered permanent paralysis as the Ohio National Guard fired 67 bullets at the protesters over the period of 13 seconds. If someone knows the name of the young man still paraliyzed, I would like to see it posted. Thanks

  • forty one years later, we are still fighting wars all over the world for the benefit of the US Corporations who pay virtually no taxes. was attending OSU in Columbus when this happened. now Vietnam is one of WalMarts largest suppliers of crap. land of the free. Nixon sucked but the real damage started with the old faker from CA-the washed-up B actor RayGun---the old creep and John Wayne-draft dodgers---I hope there is a hell so this scum can be on the first ring with the entire Bush crime family

  • I was there. And there's more to this story than has ever been written. One of the Guard captains still lives in the area. He knows too. Sad, sad day.

  • was there, it haunts me, I admire every Kent student who gathered to protest/express. Today's students are selfish techno-capitalists, morally lazy, who ignore what world events do not seem to affect them personally. sad.

  • aaaa steven talley46 of santa barbara county posted: it was the saddest day of my life up until then. their youth and inexperience jolted the triggers oh sand oh William is 1970 the lost or is it our loss of you. os hard to tell myself that you are gone, but you are still with us!

  • U.S.A.=nazi police state. Americans are so brainwashed into thinking they live in a free country....Americans are typically misguided and brainwashed morons.

  • Real solution

dont threaten national guardsmen, they arent part of the army technically

  • Solution….when the cops say go home, you go home!

    Enough said.

  • @XOneThat If you want to live in a police state, that's an excellent solution.

  • @XOneThat I bet in that police state...four kids would still be alive. Not saying the situation doesnt make me mad or that it was right. All I am saying is that not going home didnt work out so well.

  • why does everyone has to use this cheesy ass song!!

  • If it wasn't for those protesters two students would not have died :(. But don't get me wrong if there was no protesters there would be no civil rights.

  • They may have killed the body, but they can't kill their souls! Vengance is Mine, I will repay, saith the Lord! Their paychecks are coming soon! He's separating the wheat from the tares, the goats from the sheep! Which one are you?

  • Love that sign! YOU CAN'T JAIL THE TRUTH! Jesus gave us something the world can NEVER take away!

  • I was antiwar activist at UT, Austin (1969-71). Mike Alewitz was at Kent State and a friend of Allison Krause. He came down to Austin and joined our group. He told me that the night after the shootings, that rednecks were driving around town with guns, looking to shoot some more "hippie traitors." Since he was a well known activist, he decided it was best to get the hell out of there. We became friends. Used to drink 37 cent a quart Old Milwaukee together. He's known for his art work. Aloha.

  • He used a song that became immortal by Evanescence and that works for this new generation. I would have used something from Motorhead beacuse I was born that year.

  • Today is the anniversery of the Kent State shootings. Four innocent studants killed. Im still waiting for the protesters to accept thier responsibility for getting these kids killed. They seem to think they were completely without fault. Its a shame.

  • @mmac382

Its a shame there are people as ignorant as you still alive.

  • @loner1878 No protesters No deaths. Why is that so hard for idiots like you to understand? Its time they take responsibility

  • @mmac382

LOL no deaths? Yeah, except for the soldiers and Vietnamese people the US government killed by the thousands.

Yeah, people should just sit down and shut up when the government is in the wrong. How dare we protest injustices!

Look at those idiot protestors in Egypt and Libya. If they wouldn't protest their regimes, there would be no deaths! Its their own fault they're getting shot.

What an absolute idiot you are.

  • @loner1878 And just how does destroying personal property accomplish anything? They can voice they're opinion without killing others.

  • @mmac382

"Riots are the language of the unheard." - MLK

They didn't kill anyone. The cowards with guns did.

  • @loner1878 MLK believed in peaceful demonstration. He wasnt advocating riots. And it still doesnt absolve the protesters for getting other students killed.

  • @mmac382

He was explaining the mentality behind riots. And the protestors didn't get anyone killed.

  • @loner1878

According to your mentaility on riots, black people rioting at the same time were responsible for getting attacked by the police, dogs and being jailed. I guess MLK and black activists should take responsibility for their deaths/injuries too? None of that would have happened itf they didn't protest! How dumb do you have to be to take on crooked cops with water hoses, clubs and german shepherds?

Or do they count as "socialist" to you too?

  • @loner1878 The protestors are more responsible than the National Guard for the studants deaths. Take the protestors out of the picture and none of it would have happend.

  • @mmac382

Take the Vietnam War out of the picture and none of it would have happened.

There were university protests and demonstartions all over the country. Yet this only happened in two colleges.

  • @loner1878 Take away LBJs Grandmother out of the picture and it probably wouldnt have happened either. Other protest werent preceded by the destruction of cities personal property for a couple days. That kind of action is typical mob mentality and shows the lack of concern for the war issue

  • @mmac382

LOL "destruction of cities." Quite the exaggerator, aren't you?

  • @loner1878 A good analogy to the Kent protesters would be todays Vancouver riots. Those people for the most part just want to be a news story. The loss of the championship was only secondary.

  • @mmac382

Maybe to your senile brain its a good comparison.

  • @loner1878 No comparison with regards to thenid-east. The Vietnam protestors really couldnt care less about the war. They just wanted to be on the evening news. Kent was just a good excuse to be ignorant and other studants paid the price.

  • @mmac382

LOL, "didn't care about the war." Keep your head up your ass then.

  • Of course lets not forget the days prior when the protesters tore up the town of Kent as though they had a right to destroy other peoples property. They Anti-Vietnam war movement was the most ignorant failure in American history. Getting studants killed is they're only real claim to fame. They accomplished nothing else.

  • @mmac382

LOL "tore up the town." Some broken glass was the worst of it.

You want to talk about an "ignorant failure in American history?" Its called the Vietnam War.

And maybe a dumb hick like you refuses to see it, but the Vietnam protests were incredibly significant and influential. Aside from helping bring an end to the stupid war, it brought about second-wave feminism, the environmental movement, civil rights acheivements and much of the cynicism towards the government still held today.

  • @loner1878 The Vietnam war protest accomplished NOTHING! It didnt move the Gov to change its stance. It didnt end it any quicker. It only provided a generation of idiots to smoke dope and be a part ot the crowd. They were hypocrits everyone of them. And then they got others killed. The sad thing is they wont take any of the responsibility. Influential? How?

  • @mmac382

Whatever makes you happy. Anyone with a rational mind can see you're full of it.

I find it hysterical you're trying to say it was the war protestors who got people killed, rather than the war-hungry hawks in power who sent thousands of young men to their needless deaths. Or burned children alive with napalm.

I already explained to you the new movements they started (still are ongoing) and attitudes that persist today. Try and read.

I guess you're still pissed the war was lost?

  • @loner1878 Actually its the Govenor of Ohio that ordered the National Guard in an effort to protect the people of Kent. It had nothing to do with your supposed "Hungry Hawks" Shows your ignorance. Yes and those socialist movements will be crushed soon. Im pissed because of the spineless protesters whom cant admit thier guilt in the matter. How smart do you have to be to follow after a retreating platoon with guns, throwing rocks and crap. To bad the soldiers didnt aim AT the turds!

  • @mmac382

I said the WAR was done by war hungry-hawks. Learn to read.

LOL, equal rights for different genders and races and protecting the enviorment is "socialist" now? And I thought you were a hick before...

They're not going anywhere, buddy. No matter what your demigod Glenn Beck tells you.

Showing your true colors now, like I knew your would. Lameting that more young people weren't shot by the trigger happy cowards.

  • @loner1878 You brought up "hungry-hawks" in a discussion about Kent so I was correct in my comments. Your not very good at being a lieing liberal but Im sure you will get better. Nice try. You have certainly memorized the typical targets of hate, Beck,NASCAR etc. You probably hate Palin too so sad how gullible you are. I never mentioned any of these people and yet you bring them up in attempt to attack. These are old and tired vitriol. When will Obama comeup with some new people?

  • @mmac382

Hate is more a virtue of conservatives, I'd rather not partake.

I think Palin is an embarassment to the US plus a pathetic idiot, and so are her herd of brainless followers. But she's not worth my energy to hate.

LOL, what attack? By pointing out what anyone with a functioning brain knows about Glenn Beck? (that he is an absolute joke and a show?)

Would it kill you to use spell check? You're not doing yourself any favors there.

  • @loner1878 I see you HAVE fallen in step with the liberal hate targets. Hate is the only way to describe it due to the fact Palin has been pretty viciously attack by the liber media an none of you have valid reason why. You just hate Rep Women. Bachman will expose you people for what you are hateful. Dems have always been the party of hate. They have always fought against giving minorities dignity, entrepenures freedom and unborn civil rights. You need to get over your snobery. No spell check

  • @mmac382

Yeah, apparently a news anchor asking Palin questions an average educated adult should be able to answer qualifies as an "attack." Palin is the one making a fool out of herself, and people like you keep making excuses for her sorry ass.

LOL, aren't you one to lecture about "hate" when you jumped at the opportunity to spew venom at the "Left" and accuse me of the very behavior you exhibit. And you try and pass of NASCAR as a "target of hate." LOL, classic!

  • @loner1878

Republicans and Democrats spend the same amount of taxpayer dollars, much like drunken sailors. The only difference is Reps lower taxes while Dems raise them to actually try and pay for the spending. As most people have zero understanding of inflation, this allows right wingers to demonize the Democrats for the exact same behavior they exhibit when it comes to paying the deficit.

  • @loner1878 Palin may appear a rube but at least she's on the side of Pro-American values. I just stated a fact about the left. If you disagree they tell me spcifically how Im wrong? How are the Dems not promoting a socialistic styled government.

  • @mmac382

LOL "pro american values." When did being dumb as doorknob and ignorance become American values?

How are the Repubs not promoting fascist theocracy-styled governments? Since you love exaggeration so much?

  • Comment removed

  • @Bag0fRats

Another chicken commenter who removes his post...

  • @loner1878 no, didn't feel like arguing with a doofus like yourself.

  • @Bag0fRats

    Whatever, pussy.

  • @loner1878 if it were not for guys like me serving this country anfighting for freedom crybabies like you could not get on the net and cry like little girls.

  • @Bag0fRats

Is that what they've convinced you you're doing? The Vietnam war was not for "freedom." It was about political ambitions of some war hawks. Just like the Iraq war now. I appreciate the intentions of soldiers who want to fight for the nation's safety, but the reality is now the military is fighting illegal wars that have NOTHING to do with freedom or rights.

  • @loner1878 wrong. It was to keep the Commies from taking over southe Vietnam. Next.

  • @Bag0fRats

Are you not aware the US lost the Vietnam war and the communists took it over regardless?

  • @Bag0fRats

And how do commies in Vietnam have anything to do with "freedom?"

A: Nothing. It was all political ambitions.

  • @loner1878 go live over there and find out you have none and you live in poverty.

  • @Bag0fRats

And what does living over there have to do with fighting for freedom in the US? Anyways, I've had friends who lived in Vietnam and enjoyed it. Its gotten considerably more open with trade and modernization (both which did more for the country than the war against communists ever could)

  • @loner1878 doubt your story, Vietnam is in poverty.

  • @Bag0fRats

Pick up a book sometime or watch something besides Faux, sorry, Fox News. There is poverty in some places, just like there is poverty in many parts of the U.S. But Vietnam's economic growth has been among the highest in the world in recent years, many of its cities have been thriving on tourism, especially in coastal regions.

  • @loner1878 I don't watch FOX. Where do you come up with this crap ? My experience is real world; in the Navy since 1988. Thank you.

  • @Bag0fRats

Look up the term "facetious" in the dictionary, dude.

Anyways, Vietnam has had some impressive economic growth.

  • @loner1878 no it hasn't. They're more poor now then they were before. You're really to dumb to be stupid if you think Communism is a good thing.

  • @Bag0fRats

lol, your wishful thinking doesn't make things fact. If you did some research you'd see the numbers for economic growth. And where did I say communism was a good thing? Oh thats right, I didn't. Quit putting words in my mouth.

"you're really dumb to be stupid"

I loved being lectured about intelligence by people who fail at basic grammar.

  • @loner1878 as much time as you spend arguing you need to find a full time job. As for my grammar, we all make typing errors. Go call a job agency.

  • @Bag0fRats

Nice tryat a baseless insult, but if you don't have ten minutes of free time in the day then you need to ease up your schedule.

  • @mmac382

Wow old man. Looks like you either need to do some basic research or go back on your meds. Liberals have been the ones who have given rights to minorities and passed civil rights while rightwing nuts in the Republican party have fought to oppose them. Who is fighting against rights for gay people as we speak? Republicans. Who voted to pass civil rights legislation in the 60's? Democrats.

  • @loner1878 Actually every so called liberal program to help minorities has done nothing to help and in fact has contributed to their deterioration. Tell me just how minorities are better off today that prior to welfare started in the 40's. I know you think that all the Gov assistance has been great left wing bonanza but in reality minorities, especially blacks are far worse off today. Nice Job! The Republicans freed the slaves and worked far harder to protect thier rights. We pulled libs with us

  • @mmac382

Funny, where did I even mention the benefits of welfare or that I was in favor of big governemnt? You keep bringing up these random red herrings just to try and argue about your pet peeves.

The Republicans were the liberal party of their day, the Democrats were the conservatives. If we were back in the days of slavery, you would most likely be part of the Democrats and I would be part of the Republicans.

Ending slavery was barely half the battle for equality.

  • @loner1878 1940's -80% black households had 2 parents present. Today 30% - - Unemployement was on the same level as whites about 15% in real terms - today 40% compared to 19% whites -- Today 7 out of 10 blacks will see jail or prison time - One out of every seven black males have no father at home. Presently we have many black families that are on thier 5th and 6th generation of welfare. Eboncentric schools are helping blacks not to learn english. How has this helped?

  • @mmac382

What do those stats even have to do with anything? Poverty and out of wedlock births have existed for thousands of years - way before any sort of welfare system.

Let me remind you that for its time, the abolishment of slavery was a very liberal concept.

  • @loner1878 Since you never watch Beck I doubt you can even make an assesment. However he probably just says things you've told not to agree with and that would make him a joke to you. You of course have been told to hate him. You obviously have been taught to be intollerant to those you dont agree with. Its just another hate tactic.

  • @mmac382

Trying to pin the "hate" label again? I guess your side has trained you well to spew baseless insults agaisnt anyone who isn't a rightwing nut. Well I just might believe you've never seen Glenn Beck or else you would actually know how ridiculous his little act is.

LOL, you're calling ME intolerant? Yeah, you're a prime example of a tolerant indivudal.

But then again two-faced hypocrisy is the bread and butter of conservatives.

  • @mmac382

Anyways, I hope your busy advocating for an end to public libraries, the mail service, public schools and fire departments - those are all "socialist" inventions too!

  • @loner1878 Well Im not sure where this came from but - Public Libraries could be better served if privatized. They are going away soon anyway. The mail service originally a private service has been obviously ruined by the Left (socialists) They are going away soon as well. Public schools have definately been ruined by the left and the corrupt Unions. They would better served if privatized. Fire and Police are good people served by corrupt Unions in bed with Socialists.

  • @mmac382

    Omg itz dem evil LIBRULZ!

    Go back to watching Nascar.

  • @loner1878 By the way. Non of those institutions were inventions of the socialist. They were all brought to us by hard working imaginative people whom saw a need and fulfilled it. Socialist see a need and ruin the idea by invoking an overbearing beauracracy. Socialist are needy, unimaginative people with no desire to stand up and provide for themselves. They want Big Brother to provide. They throw tantrums when they dont get what they want (riot) They have no self respect. Paracites!

  • @mmac382

"hard working imaginative people whom saw a need and fulfilled it." XDDD Quite the simpleton I see.

Its pretty clear you're terrified of socialism but understand very little of it. Yes, our police/fire departments are socialized, as is the free library and education system. AND Veteran benefits.

Besdies, your attempt to smear those movements as "socialist" is laughable to begin with.

  • @loner1878 I know very well what socializm entails. You however have probably only read about it or have been infested with it by a ignorant proffessor. I know it makes sense to you now but when you grow up and find you have lost your freedoms to those whom know better you find it will be too late.

  • @mmac382

    "Socializm"

Yeah, don't you seem educated on it. lol

  • @loner1878 Get over it putz. Anyway Ive experienced Socialism first hand. You on the other hand know nothing about it.

  • @mmac382

    I'm sure you believe that.

  • @loner1878 And just where has socialism been successful? Im not terrified of it I just want it to stop tearing down my country. Oh by the way the library isnt free. Thats OK its a typical slight of hand the Libs like to ignore. Taxes of course pay for any public entitlement. You people think its free because your not looking when the Gov takes your money to pay for it. Your all Elois

  • @mmac382

Hm, where exactly did I argue in favor of socialism or say it had been successful? Oh right, I didn't. I merely pointed out a handful of programs that are socialist in nature.

What I find funniest about your little tirade is the rightwing nut hypocrisy on the whole "small government" issue. Rightwing politicans harp on smaller gov in every speech but make no move to actually do so. And of course its the last thing on their minds. They don't want smaller gov, they want THEIR gov.

  • @loner1878 The Right has only recently been awoken from thier socialist slumber. They infact are making overtures to bring America back to its small Gov roots. It will take time since they dont quite have enough of a majority to do so. That will be resolved in 2012. These days the left is nothing but socialist. The saying "I didnt leave the Democratic party, they left me." definately holds true in my case. You'll understand when you grow up.

  • @mmac382

LOL, the right has been active and spewing their venom for years. Or are you trying to not take blame for the past 8 years of Republican screw-ups?

Right wing politicans harp about smaller government, but wake up and smell the coffee, they will never go about accomplishing it. And of course their base will never realize that sad little reality and keep on handing them votes.

By "grow up" you mean go old and senile?

  • @loner1878 OK so what socialist programs have been successful?

  • @mmac382

Red herring, not really a respectable debate tactic. Don't try and change the subject, you brought up an ignorance of socialism to begin with.

  • Only 2 of the ones killed were actually protesters...The other 2 were just walking to class...sandra was one of the two that was just going to class...so said. Nixion also said it was one of the darkest moments of his presidency...but when those tapes of his were found...he said that the kent state university students had it coming...

  • Gee, the national guard was chased by large crowd of people who had previously burned an rotc building down. What were they hinking shooting the peacefull protestors.... Anyways, they didn't need protection or anthing.

  • i meant that for little shroom child not you whats up here

  • Turn to Stone by Joe Walsh was his song about this American tragedy. He went to Kent State in the late '60's and left to form The James Gang before the shootings.

  • You are right that they are never forgotten. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I sent any one of my kids off to get an education and they wound up executed for exercising their First Amendment rights.

  • It sucks that they made you change the song from Ohio! Because it would have been much more appropriate. :(

  • The day my country died.

  • I would of given you a thumbs up (like) post, because this is a very good clip, but I didn't like that you put the white blubs up and kept them up for so long blocking words (example:the blah, blahs) and other spots that blocked pictures. Otherwise, I liked it. Nice job.

  • Any national guardsmen that fired rounds that day are war criminals, Why do you think the Weatermen and other groups went underground. Between this and finding out about COINTELPRO we had to change from peaceful acts.

  • @jim196869

    2 questions

    1.how old are you

    2. if you are under 40 you don't know what you're talking about

  • were gonna lose in iraq, and afganistan just like vietnam

  • F*** the Vietnam war.

  • 1:26, is that blood on the camera?

  • @soyuski its called a mute button, and its there for a reason. not that hard of a concept to grasp

  • Don't throw stones at men with rifles. Idiots.

  • @CleanAndWhite Yeah, so I guess the punishment for throwing a stone or rock at a National Guardsmen is immediate execution, correct? You are an idiot for saying such a callous statement.

  • @katsluvr HEY, DON'T THROW ROCK AT MEN WITH GUNS. WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND OURSELFS

  • @kenfla2 YOUR A MORON....

  • @whokeithmoon whatever you pink bitch

  • @kenfla2 Chill out man. Sure you shouldnt agrivate men with guns but the men with guns shouldnt have been there. And that is no excuse to kill someone.

You think its right for someone to be shot for a rock?

They were just kids. They didnt deserve to die.

  • @LittleShroomChild

rocks are dangerious, rocks can kill or cause harm

  • @Sennin713 really? i thought those were guns not pebbles.

  • @Sennin713 So that justifies killing somebody ?? I was in the Army and believe me a 30/06 does allot more damage than a rock.

  • @Sennin713 seriously ever fire an m1 rifle it will take out a rock thrower at 500 yards idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you know nothing say nothing

  • @mmdillon55

i doubt you know anything either

  • take this garbage off if you are just going to leave this awful song on.

  • lest we forget freedom needs to nurtured and protected there never be any

justification for this outrage.Flowers not bullets great idea!

  • "Tin soldiers and Nixon coming ... 4 Dead in Ohio" ... I had been back from Vietnam for about a yr and 1/2 when this happened ... I immediately joined an Anti-War organization (one that was actually doing some good) ... I hope I can eventually forgive, but I know I will never forget.

  • Beautiful song

The tragedy that occurs in Kent is made to stand out this beautiful song.

Beautiful song. Beautiful scenery. Beautiful young people. I do not forget this tragedy.

    Beautiful young people.

I do not forget this tragedy.

  • Interesting - I wonder if Youtube bowed to political pressure to get this song off the internet.

  • I was in Health class with Sandy the quarter before the shootings.

She joked with me that the reason she was going to school was to look for a husband. She was a "Sweet Innocent" and to this day I am still sad for her family and humanity in general.

  • sorry to bust yall bubblez ISLEY BROTHERS HAD THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG IF YOU DONT BELIEVE THEN COMPARE THEM

  • uh, what? Not only were the soldiers NOT cornered, but they never claimed to be - they crested a hill and several of them immediately opened fire on a group of students some of whom were quite distant when they were struck. Why would you make something like that up? Even the soldiers didn't make these claims directly after it happened. Some of what you say explicitly contradicts the national guard's own version of the story.

  • You tell it! Certain students were targeted and this is indisputable at this point.

  • y didnt u use "ohio" by Crosby stills nash and young for this video instead of this shit

  • @strawberEfieldz4ever i did originally, but youtube deemed it a copyright violation and i was forced to audioswap.

  • @beamer1995 y didnt u use ohio by neil young

  • @sj176 Read the comment at the top of this page..

  • @strawberEfieldz4ever Niel Young was Canadien. He was just a corporate shill. Its fitting he be excluded

  • next time, use a song about it.

  • Copyright schmoppy write... after 20 years the song is public domain. All this nonsense is not about copyrights. I don't claim to know what the real reason is but I would bet that Neil Young would have no objection to his song being used in your homemade music video. I have taken videos like this and rebuilt them with a new soundtrack of the song that is supposed to be there. wadda pane in da arse tube

  • IMN, you don't seem to know anything about publishing or copyright in the first place. For example, regardless of whether or not Neil Young cares if you use his music (I agree with you that he would certainly support its use in this video), it is the LABEL that owns the mechanical and performance rights of the song. Also copyrights don't end after 20 years - they last the artists ENTIRE LIFE PLUS SEVENTY YEARS.

  • Of course, before the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, this would have probably been defensible as "fair use," but fair use is becoming a hard argument to prove under newer, more industry-friendly legislation...copyright can really be a two-edged sword, sometimes it hinders the artist as much as it helps...its always good for the suits, though...

  • As many others have said, why would you post a different song to the video besides the Neil Young version?

Someone else has already said it best, so if you can't stop it, steal from them.

  • umm idfk why you wouldent play ohio by neil young the song is about this very event rofl

  • Both the FBI & Scranton Commission issued reports during 1970, after taking statements from many eyewitnesses-including many guardsmen. Neither report mentions either bricks or Molotov cocktails. Does anyone believe that the guardsmen and other law enforcement personnel present somehow forgot to mention that bricks and Molotov cocktails were being thrown when they were questioned just after the shooting?

  • CrosbyStillsNash&YOUNG PLEASE

  • WTF it seems the song is a joke for such a video if not CSNY atleast sumthing else but...

  • good track goes well with vid

  • I want to know the moron who thought this was an apt substitute for CSNY. Seriously, this is bad.

  • Our Police State started long before this. It's getting worse, every day, but our government hides it well and is aided by the acquiescent, clueless sheeple that is most of its citizens.

  • I've been to Kent state recently it's hard to believe that on that campus in quiet Ohio students were gunned down like criminals by their own government (injustice).

  • And we do not know why to this day......?

The students starting throwing bricks at the soldiers.

  • yeah but instead of shooting them they shot at the students on the other side of the hill who were just walking to class---we still don't know why P.S THEY WERE JUST THROWING SMALL ROCKS AT THE ARMOUR COVERED NG'S

  • just throwing small rocks? that is not true. i am sending you a link. I am unable to post it here,

  • i think i was almost feotal when this happened cept mt musical taste spans decades
