I am NOT a 10 year old and I am impressed. I have been in EMS and the life saving business a while. The lights and siren still excite me, even after almost 10 years.
@padrak18 If you had any appreciation for the honor and traditions of the fire service you would appreciate this. This is one of the few firehouses that survived the great Chicago Fire. Lose the attitude and have a little more respect, it would do ya good.
I think that is a cool vid. I will look at others. Does Chicago have any full picture pages of apparatus O fire radio on the net for free --- like FDNY? Thanks for the reply.
i saw the station on saturday and friday i like the christmas lights on the station and the new engine that one is the old engine 98 and i like the new ambulance i saw 20 fire trucks on michigan ave 2 of them where engine 98 and 4 of them is ambulance 11
i didnt realize how old this video was until i saw that ambulance...wow...when did chicago switch from van to the e-series type 3's? im guessing it had to be around this same time...
CFD first 'experimented' with Type-III's in 1992 using 5 Type-III's placed in the downtown district (so placed to test maneuverability in congested downtown streets). In 1995 the Econoline ambulances were slowly but steadily replaced with Type-IIIs. The final Econoline was removed from service in 1998.
THe ambo didn't have most of it's lights on.

I'm amazed these guys back up the rig so easily with such a small room for error. Same goes with most big cities-SF, NY, DC Boston etc.

why does CFD use green lights on their trucks/engines?
MidnightPolak 3 years ago
Many years ago one of the fire chiefs was really into boating so he had a green light put on the fire trucks.
