@CE750 Doesn't matter, the elevation is already hellish up there. And 5,000 in three miles is no joke. Plus the extra poundage of gear makes it a nightmare, which is why they switched to plate carriers, though that only effects weight by a small amount.
@xTheDevilWearsPradax whats the purpose of wearing the ruck high out of curiousity. i got a buddy thats a sheep hunter, and he swears by having tall/high rucks. ive always figured keep center of gravity low for balance. any info on this would be greatly appreciated
@Se7enMag When you're doing a ruck march it's real common to lean forward as you march. Having a heavy ruck low by your back creates a drag and slows you down. When it's high up on your back close to your shoulders it almost helps with the forward mommentum as you lean rather than the opposite effect of having it low.
This was my first ruck in AF. I was the only Navy guy out there and I got 0 heads up on my ruck. I had so much shit in there (extra uni's, books, mre's). Woops. Ounces=Pounds, Pounds=Pain. I learned that one quick. It got easier though.
Hang in there, Doc.

Hey Navy.... that's why we in the Army and the USMC value PT and have REAL standards for it.
