Truly Pakistan and pakistani establishment has created a generation of Delusional youth who live of demented islamic fake islamic glory and are inward looking not progressive, they are so regressive no doubt they wanna go bak and live in 7th century, they are so thankless not just for AID and food provided by USA, nut ffor the inventions they use in everyday life....and with frustration and insecurity they go Kaboom!
this guy is talking rubbish pakistan army aint as currupted as indian army. pakistan politicians have always been currupted is the reason why the army always had 2 step in putt marshall laws. havin lots of swiis bank accounts all fucked politicians they had no choice.indians love his bull shits becoz thats exactly probably what all these ugly hindu wants to hear
@Jaigandjeeki: Man you're truly delusional. India has no interest in you and your pakistan...we sympathise and wish to help failed states like yours! Wake up smell the coffee and dont be the wretched poor workman blaming his tools!!! May logic prevail in your brutally demented minds!
No govt.s are pure of heart, but if the Pakistanis listen to Zaid Hamid etc, they should also listen to people like this to get a more compound view of the truth!
Ahmad Rashid, Very goood, indepth,Open and honet analysis.Based on facts. as facts rAs truth is always bitter, therefore many emotional people dont like his analysis. Emtional people dont use mind to think, they use emotions..which is dangerous
I do credit AR for his profound analysis of the situation...but not entirely impressed with it. He analysis seems to be swaying in one direction; seemingly worded to please his 'audience'.......while I do agree with a lot of what he is saying but not entirely with what he is implying.
Yea because all this guy does is provides all the ammunition that the US and co need to carry out their imperial military misadventures...he *hardly* ever provides criticism of the US actions and intentions, which is sooo visible in his talks
I don't know if he is working for pakistan or against pakistan, i think th later. I hav always flt this guy spaks too much, giv him som time to talk and h will start speaking against th interest of paskistan,
In fact, listening to Mr. Rashid, it appears that US is simply incapable of nation building given the structural reorganizations of its relevant departments such as USIS and USAID after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This is sad considering the critical role played by the US in reconstruction of post-war Europe and Japan. It is also a serious strategic weakness on part of the US as most conflicts in the 21st century are likely to require a healthy dose of nation building.
It is also worth noting the massive strategic blunders of the US in Afghanistan. (It proves - if ever proof was needed - that even superpower status is no protection against fallibility!) America did not foresee the consequences of using radical Islam to fight proxy war or of abandoning Afghanistan after Soviet withdrawl. It failed to appreciate the threat posed by Taliban to Karzai government or the necessity of undertaking agricultural reconstruction to revive Afghan economy.
As Mr. Rashid points out, it is extremely ironic that a country whose founders were secular Muslims, risks becoming a theocratic state. In fact, if there is a social breakdown - a reasonable supposition given lack of nationalism, weak state institutions, sinking economy, and state bankruptcy - Pakistan will become a theocratic failed state. That would have catastrophic consequences for regional and world security. No wonder India views Pak as future "Somalia of South Asia".
Military control over the country has not only arrested its economic development, army's anti-India defense policies have created serious social and diplomatic issues. The nurturing and backing of Taliban in Afghanistan - shockingly, even after 9/11 - to gain "strategic depth" against India as well as to fight proxy wards in Kashmir, is fueling "Talibanization" of the country. Diplomatically, Pak has to fight charges of exporting terrorism and risks becoming a pariah state.
"All countries have an army. In Pakistan, the army has a country", says Mr. Rahid. I couldn't agree more! The Pak Army maintains absolute control over the country's foreign policy and has been steadily increasing its influence over the civilian society. As a result, urgent needs of the country's masses - such as education, health-care, transportation, employment, energy, etc - have been (and are being) consistently ignored in favor of national defense considerations.
Ahmed Rashid does not discuss India's 'cultural centres' dotted across the afghan side of the durand line....these centres have been left virtually untouched by all the violence since the fall of the taliban amid accusations that these centres are in fact supporting fake taliban in pakistan as well as the rekindled baloch rebels that we had not faced for 30 years prior
u r again following the foot steps of pak army PERCEPTION... this anti India sentiment is hurting u more than India and one day it will annihilate u.. watch out.
Yes, the problem plaguing Pakistan is NOT India but rather its own PARANOID "perception" of India's "supposed" threat to Pakistan.
The fact is that the Pakistani Army has just used "Kaafir India" as a punchline to toy w/Muslim emotions in Pakistan, and hence, stay in power. So the general Pak civilians are too busy hating Kaafir India, to see that their own Pak army has ravaged their county.
Indians want Pakistan to be stable b/c it means less problems for India!
atheist pakistani is a weird word don u think considerin d very existence of pakistan is based on d need for a country for ppl who worship allah!???????
if u keep makin up stories that india maintains trainin camps in afganistan or anywhere else to target pak u'll have to suffer as taliban is not indias creation.. this india hating will ultimately lead to ur destruction.. taliban is at ur doorsteps move ur forces n kill them.. or they'll do d same wit u..

Ahmed Rashid speaks the truth but, as per Pakistani theory of love for nation he is a CIA, Mosad, and RAW agent
In the same way Hassan Nisar is also a traitor of Pakistan
