How is it that in these times of google, wikipedia and the whole internet, it seems people are more and more ignorant. Firstly there are hundreds of planes and ships that pass through the triangle weekly. Secondly according to studies, no more disappearances happen in the region than in other parts of the sea. i'm from the philippines and i did some small research about bermuda triangle and my conclusion was that disapperances of some ships and aircrafts has nothing to do with some mystical creatures, UFO's and other scifi things. But I encountered some information saying that weather condition or atmosphere of the area causes some ship and aircraft some trouble that leads them to crashing or whatever. Some also talks about gravitational pull in the area.

One girl i encountered was Emilia earhearth, but i think her mystery has already been solved, and bermuda triangle i think is not involved in the accident.

The compas thing might have to do with the magnetism in the Earth like in the Norh and South pole, but in the Bermuda Triangle it also might have that magnetic field which causes the compas to go off course since the compas will have another signal coming from which would make it spin around. You can try this, get a needle rub it to something magnetic put it in something that can lay on the water and put 2 magnets, it would probably spin around due the source is coming from 2 different spots.
