I am not saying that Tibet should be completely liberated but should have more autonomy. Rejecting their demand for more autonomy is not just suppresion of political demands but a suppresion of a long-existing societal structure.

The Yuan dynasty (Which was not Chinese but Mongol.. of Kublai Khan's descent) unified most of modern day China for the first time. The Ming dynasty which formed after the peasant army defeated the later Yuan emperors only controlled all of China because the Yuan (Mongol..not Chinese) had unified more of China than ever before. These imperial dynasties adopted Confucianism. When did the Buddhist theocracy adopt Confucianism? When did Tibetans become Han, or Manchus? They aren't just Chinese.

In old Tibet before 1950, 88 percent of Tibeten people were born as slaves. Slaves didn't belong to themselves, they belong to their slave masters who occupied 5% of Tibeten population at that time. Slaves could be sold,bought,abused at the will of their masters!
