I saw Wilco at the Ryman Auditorium for the first time in October and it was amazing! I found an artist that is in the same vein - Nathan Roberts. Check out NathanRobertsMusic.tumblr.com
This is my favorite song by wilco... I heard them on the radio today, It's funny to see bands you've liked forever get so popular suddenly then the rest of the world loves them... I guess I'm just greedy about my music.
They have never been better live. It's only natural that they are gaining more and more fans as they go along. They never made a bad record or sold out. They are the true torch-bearers of the legendary sixties and seventies bands.I personally became a fan back in 2004, and their fan base has been growing ever since because after years of doing great stuff their music simply can;t be ignored by those seeking something else other than an insipid pop tune.
@mrshiggs1 Dude, don't just call any lyric a poem. Seriously, I like WIlco and all, but this is not even close to their best work (a really nice Beatles imitation with keyboard though). There's a serious body of true confessional poetry, and this ain't in it. If you'd like to read real confessional poetry, let me know and I'll give you a reading list.
@seymourglass26 First, as a female professor of English - I'm not a dude and I have a reading list. Second, I own every Wilco album and know their music & lyrics quite well. In my estimation, poetry - in general - does not have to complex to be profound. In fact, some of Tweedy's best work is simple, without rhyme, and easily understood. Third, there are no right answers when it comes to interpretation. Listeners respond to what moves them. Everyone will have a different read. And that's OK.
@seymourglass26 It's probably Mrs. higgs, not Mr. Shiggs. Thanks for the good laugh though. Don't ya hate it when you fuck up like that while you're being kinda pompous in the first place?
I heard impossible germany at a resturant and i laughed because i had already played it in my car on the way to the resturant lol.Thumbs u if you think thats funny
This song makes me think of the undying loyalty my dog Jack had for me. I had to have him euthanized because he bit someone in a zero tolerance community. I heard it in a pub about a year ago and I think I'll always associate it with Jackie. I am also somehow happy, unlike the poster below, that I did not and for that matter hope never to hear it in a Benihana...
Story of my freaking life told in just over 3 minutes. Huh.

Anyone know if an instrumental version exists - love the vocals but too heavy for me sometimes. Impactful song this one!
