My brother was born in 1979 with sws. He also has mental retardation. He had to go to a special school and his stain went on one whole side of his upper body including his chest. You are lucky to have the option of laser removal. My brother still has his stain and is 32 now. He is doing well and has about 1 seizure a year. He has 2 beautiful and healthy sons also. I hope your son has an amazing life journey!

@TheEMILY6832 - no, a port wine stain has nothing to do with drinking wine while pregnant. it's an overabundance of blood vessels underneath the surface of the skin which resembles a spill of wine on a white table cloth. that's where the birthmark got it's name.

when i was born i was diagnosed with a port wine birth mark too. but mine covers about 70% of my body, the birthmark starts in the toes, my toes are usually a dark purple and my birthmark reachs up to my neck amazingly it's not on my face how lucky i am, i still feel very shy about my birthmark as people stare at me.

Being 15, I was born with port-wine stain birthmarks all over my right leg. Recently, I have been receiving laser surgeries for them, and yes, it is a VERY phyiscally painful procedure to go through!! i think the laser treatments were one of the hardest thing because of the burn marks it left for weeks. It was a constant reminder of the struggle he has to deal with everyday but showed me just how stronge my lil man was

Port wine stain birthmarks or not, Aiden is a absolutely gorgeuos baby boy =]
Being 15, I was born with port-wine stain birthmarks all over my right leg. Recently, I have been receiving laser surgeries for them, and yes, it is a VERY phyiscally painful procedure to go through!! I do not wish anyone in the world to have it done, not even the people I hate the most.....God bless this little boy, he is a cutie!

I am a 26 yr old women with a port-wine stain on my face and neck. I was one of the first in Canada to get laser treatments back when I was about 4 yrs old. Sadly back then the treatments did not work. I am glad your little guy is growing up in a time where technology is on his side.

i think the laser treatments were one of the hardest thing because of the burn marks it left for weeks. It was a constant reminder of the struggle he has to deal with everyday but showed me just how stronge my lil man was

Aiden is absolutely beautiful. He is so lucky to have parents like you that have cared for him and his birthmark/SWS. I am a 33year old woman with a PWS on my face. Your video make me cry... God bless you and your beautiful family. Thanks for the inspiration. God is so good.

Children with Sturge Weber are very special and extremly strong in coping with what life throws at them. I should know as I have Emily. Beautiful video and very informative for all the people out there oblivious to this condition.

God blesses the world with many children. He saves the children with special needs for those parents and grandparents who are extraordinarily kind and patient and generous. I wish you every blessing in the future with Aiden.

I am blessed to be his stand-in dad! It has been a real adventure and an eye openning experiance! I hope that more research is done and more people become more aware of what SWS is all about! I am still learning! Hey babe, keep up the good work sweety, you are few and far between! Not only are you my angel....but most importantly, Aiden's! He is very blessed and very fortunate to have someone so carring and as loving as you for a mother!

Even knowing the story before seeing this video, it touches my heart so much. The light Aiden always has in his eyes, and the smile on his face... he is truly amazing. And the way you so willingly share his story in order to increase awareness and raise funds for research is so admirable.
