  • Do you land it with 1/2 or 1/4 or maybe less throttle?

I've just bought one plane like this but I haven't flewn it since I am very afraid to crash it.

  • @rvilchis this was at about half-stick (half throttle) using about 30% flaps. I recomend practicing on the flight simulator with this or a similar model. If you go into rcgroups, you can find some people who have made (free to upgrade) models to use on the "Great Planes G4.5" sim.

When I first got into the hobby, and old-timer (he's been flying for 45+ years) in the hobby said, " you're gonna put the plane in the air, and it's going to come down, it just isn't always up to you how or where.

  • @shaneeeeak Thank you very much for answering my question, as you can see I am new in the hobby, and I had a traumatic experience (ok not too bad :) ) I bought a Parkzone Radian, and the first time I flew it I crashed it. The fuselage was broken in 4 parts. That was because the owner of the store in my city where I bought this glider told me that usually rc planes should be landed without throttle.

So, Would you please give me some advice of how to land the Parkzone Radian?

    Thank You

  • @rvilchis really, it all depends on the wind... you want to be flying into the wind (this is headwind), if there is little or no wind you can usually let your radian gently slide on it's belly (in grass). when starting out, I don't use landing gear. it is just one more thing to break when you are getting used to the plane. with increased winds, you want to up the power accordingly, when you're close to the ground, cut power. fly the plane near the ground, make tiny corrections and practice.

  • a littel fast there

  • yes, i did have to crash and break many parts to get to here....even the simulator cannot change direction of wind like it changes in real life, or real time. so the first dozen flights are mostly landing practice with all of my planes.
