  • What exactly is the word he says after "quite hands, quite kiss"

  • @packersfandan "quite hands, quite kiss on the mouth"

  • He may very well have killed 10,000 people with the Tragic Hurt he Personified

  • If gacy killed 33 why does it say 27 in the song?

  • @Melly25025 He only buried 27 under his house.

  • boring song =,=

  • @IsketambolaPenyu John Wayne Gacy was a raper and a pedofil who killed ofer 30 teens , all of them boys , and buried them underneath the house until it was flooded and the bodies went up to the surface because of the water.

first read then express your dumbass opinion.

  • Hi! Where didi u take the old footage? last month I read a web site in the page of this video, where u downloaded the entire footage.. Could u send me the address?? Thank u!!

  • he done them a favour! Well done John!

  • exquisite

  • haunting

what's scary is the truth in it

in my best behaviour i am really just like him

  • this is the most fucked up thing Ive seen. Fuck John Wayne Gayce.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, and it is made all the more affecting when one actually listens to the lyrics and realises just what this song is about... It is one of the most disturbing songs I have heard, and yet it is somehow one of the most beautiful songs I have heard, too... Quite simply, it is thoroughly amazing.

  • Simply,amazing.

  • @mrlesterpocock not cool man

  • One of the best songs ever composed.

  • wouldn't it be kind of hilarious if sufjan stevens actually turned out to be a serial killer!

  • Comment removed

  • Holy crap, FRESNO police dept.? little unsettling considering i live here.

  • I can't stop listening to this song

  • This is hauntingly beautiful...

  • This is like, the best song I have ever heard.

  • Weeping unabashedly. Between this and Vulgar, I'm always going to cry when I see a clown.

  • This song is way too short :(

  • @MsCutiieePiiee Very True...A Story Indeed..Woo..Wow..Weee

  • "After Gacy's death was confirmed at 12:58 a.m. May 10, 1994, his brain was removed. It is in the possession of Dr. Helen Morrison, a witness for the defense at Gacy's trial, who interviewed Gacy and other serial killers in an attempt to isolate common personality traits of violent sociopaths. An examination of Gacy's brain after his execution revealed no abnormalities." :|

  • @gtmilne stop ripping shit off of wiki you dumb piece of poop!

  • @gtmilne that's doesn't mean though that there was nothing different IN his brain. No abnormalities probably means that his behaviour didn't have a medical origin. Some people get violent from birth defects or tumors growing in their brains.

  • I lost the game. :|

  • my take is he's singing about a murder thank you o_o. kay thanks bye

  • Religion does not diminish how good music is, or how much I enjoy it at first listen.

  • The bible says that all sins are equal. Sufjan is trying to say that we all are sinners. Even in our best behavior we sin. We are all capable of murder, lying, etc. Thats my take.

  • If you don't God and Jesus are still there. Whether you decide to accept them or not is your choice. Nobody is or should be judging you. I feel good now that I've gotten that out. Have a blessed day.

  • If only all 'Christians' were like you. Have a nice day too :)

  • @KaedanIR Not like me, like Christ.

  • I was about to respond to this person under me ( literally, not trying to be snarky here), but I notice the two comments beneath that are from the same person, yet they kind of contradict each other. Why are people arguing about this. We don't need any pharisees rebuking people, and any other people bashing the Christianity, because of a few hypocritical poeple. I'm not saying that this was the intent of either side. Can't we just enjoy this song. If you know and love Jesus, that's fantastic.

  • A lot of people commenting on this video clearly dont know that Sufjan Stevens is a CHRISTIAN SINGER!! Now, I personally am not christian, but if you look at the lyrics of his songs, and if you read about him, he clearly does sing about god and jesus and his faith. The people that are "dragging jesus into everything" aren't just christian fanatics. Some music is just music i agree, but this music, is christian music, and the people who know that, shouldnt be told theyre wrong. Cause theyre not.

  • hes basically singing about a metaphor thats about it

  • this song takes you places

  • One of my views on this song is that it as about human nature and how it falls short. Sometimes society and people who are suppose to look after us fail us. Everyone is flawed internally from things in there childhood. I think sufjan is maybe giving both sides of a terrible human occurance. I have no sympathy for this man, but maybe someone failed him.

  • Great song. TY for posting.

  • I wonder how many times Gacy felt regret at all those lives he cut short. Then I think about all the burning agony that's hopefully tearing through his body in hell.

  • well, whether you either do or do not like the music video and what it is about, we can all safely say it's done it's job because it's very striking and shocking, and everyone is discussing it. sufjan wins, yet again. clever clever man.

  • lol @ religious psychosis.

  • Why does Jesus have to be dragged into everything? Ever heard of just listening to a song?

  • In the eyes of God we are all serial killers, everyone who has been angry with someone else without a just cause is guilty of murder. repent and believe the gospel, we all need a savior....turn to Jesus. He will lift ur burden

  • @Jesusistheonlyway905 In the eyes of God we are all his children, not serial killers.

  • @EndoftheForest thats not true, some people are not God's children. Many will go to hell unfortunately. Unbelievers are not God's children, u are gravely mistaken.

  • @Jesusistheonlyway905 your not the one to judge the way i am and others too.....either way i believe in jesus.just dont bring that your not a prophet or sumthing your just scaring people off thinking like this...just keep it to your self and we can share our bible stories and teachings to our friends and families stay safe peace and love

  • @halofan38 you're telling me to keep the gospel too myself. I just told ppl a good reason for why they need a savior and who can save them, but you just want me to keep quiet. Get thee hence Satan, God commanded us to spread the good news.

  • You think you've been saved, but let me ask you, saved from what? "jesus died for our sins" isnt that enough saving for everyone? The bible is full of oxymorons, god is all forgiving, but the REALLY bad go to hell. God loves all his children, but homosexuals are an exception. Christianity is a backwards religion, God claims to love and help you, but youre damned for all eternity if you dont worship him and follow his every command. jealousy is one of the 7 deadly sins, but "he is a jealous god".

  • @Jesusistheonlyway905 thanks god bless you

  • @EndoftheForest have u ever been angry with someone? most likely u are guilty of murder...we are wretched things indeed, we need God to save us from our sinful nature which he will one day correct with perfect bodies. If u don't agree then u probably are a self righteous sinner, u must admit this in your mind and let Jesus save u. trust in Jesus and u will have eternal life in paradise...as God promised.

  • Beautiful song. Stop arguing and just listen.

  • OK the ending wtf was that, that shit tried me out wow but nice song who sings it

  • Triped me out

  • @evergabriel the ending is supposed to freak you out!

  • very good song..the ending kind of freaked me out, though...

  • this song has helped me through hard times <3 <3 <3 XOXOXOXOXOXOXo

  • Rubbish song, no base:(

  • @petter707 HAHAHAHA

  • @petter707 Base? Like a cake?

  • Jesus' payment was so great that if John Wayne Gacy would have turned to Christ in belief and repented of his sins before his death than he would be in heaven with Christ today. His mercy is that deep...think about that for a sec. Oh, and this is an absolutely tremendous song btw. Love Jesus and Sufjan's music. :)

  • @andrewdreiling11 None of that is real, religion is a hoax.

  • Comment removed

  • @andrewdreiling11 Christmas is such a Blessing for mankind! We all need forgiveness for our sins, no matter how big or how small they are. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. What fools they are to turn Him away.

  • @About2Rain

    jesus is rubbish, no base:(

  • I really like this song even if its about a person society hates

  • I understand what makes good music is "subjective".

You can't theoretically "prove" or "disprove" if Bach or The Jonas Brothers are more talented.

That said...Sufjan is in that rare, limited company of artists today, where I think you would practically have to be allergic to artistic understanding, to not concede he is an IMMENSE talent.

  • Comment removed

  • @inchao Atheist here, raised southern baptist. This song totally has modern christian connotations. The line Dukedudez references is about original sin. Like it or not but Sufjan Stevens is a devout christian. A good number of his songs have references to christianity.

  • This video gives me the creeps majorly... But well done. This is great. What a great song!

  • v.v Lindo, triste... y tan frágil… *u*

    Linda canción! ñ.ñ

  • Ya, no problem man. I would write it as a comment, but I don't have enough space. I'll just send pm you.

  • i love this song, and it does make me cry, but i cant help but love it. and im learning how to play it on guitar, but it really just makes you think about how this stuff really happens, and its very real. i love the song <3

  • I love this song sooooo much

  • This is hypnotic, i just tune out listening to this song and i mean that in the best way.

  • Gacy's last words were "Kiss my ass!" to one of the prison guards on the way to the execution chamber. Sums him up pretty well imo.

  • Gacy was able to restrain a lot of his victims with his "handcuff trick" Joke and entertain by saying he could show them how to get out of handcuffs and once they were slapped on their wrists he would say "Having the key is the trick." You can't write a more disturbing story of fiction then the real John Wayne Gacy.

  • what a haunting and beautiful song considering its about a man that ruthlessly raped and murdered ATLEAST 33 young men....

  • " And in my best behavior, I am really just like him ? Look beneath the floorboards, for the secrets I have hid .. "

Great job by the way. (y)

  • I love this lyrics...! what the hell are you?? cristians virgin ass-kissers???

  • John Wayne Gacy Jr was a rapist and a murder yes. We are all murders with our words. We don't fully understand that with one word you could have just ended someones life. I was told I was a nothing but a waste of space in this world by the woman I loved and after that I have lived life has nothing but a ghost. Words are the weapons of the hearts and if we are not careful we are no better then Gacy Jr.

  • I wanted to immediately turn this off immediately thinking it would hit me hard, which it did :(

  • 2:53 kid loved his dnb

  • Num quarto escuro, na cama ele os beijou todos.

    Ele mataria dez mil pessoas

Com a ligeireza de sua mão, correndo muito, correndo rápido para os mortos

Ele tirou toda as suas roupas por eles

Ele pôs um pano em seus lábios, mãos quietas, beijo quieto na boca

    E no meu melhor comportamento

    Eu sou igualzinho a ele

Olhe debaixo das tábuas do assoalho

    Para os segredos que escondi

  • rest in peace gacy!! great man

  • @briee7x3 Your Fuckin Sick Go Rot Somewhere i hope to god that your kidding

  • This song is melodiously pleasing, and it has so much meaning. By definition, it's a good song. Enjoy it, it's beautiful.

  • It's kinda sad and terrible to see Gacy when he was just a chubby and innocent child.

  • oh my... love..

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know why i am obsessed with serial killers! God help men!

  • I love john wayne gcay!

  • he's just displaying gacy's life with a sad tune

  • I just read that in a study about music and its connection to intelligence, Sufjan was ranked the highest.

Now we have proof to why we are better than others ;)

Just search: "Music vs intelligence: Can music make you dumb?"

  • i dont believe he is comparing his sins to john wayne gacy's . I think he is just stating how deceiving john wayne was, he fooled people into thinking he was normal but really he was a psychopath. to you he was just like someone on their best behavior.

  • @phoebesnowing its hard to say if he was comparing his sins to the killer, but, definitely, you make a good point that he was showing how deceiving he was. is it to make us be more aware? i don't know. to be weary? i don't know. it does not seem 'good' to me to always be 'weary', but then again, maybe it is a good idea.

  • Terrible song..

  • @TTFLS because its true

  • @Supergear100

No it's actually just a terrible song...

  • What a dark ballad.... yet it holds truth within all of us

  • Comment removed

  • it would be foolish to compare Sufjan to anyone

  • REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT

  • I'm not a hipster

  • Sufjan's fans are smart.

  • The line "I am really just like him, Look beneath the floor boards

For the secrets I have hid" is metaphorical. We all have secrets hidden in our floorboards. Some more hideous than others.

  • @PatrickWhite1985,

I don't think that Sufjan is comparing us to psychopaths, I think that he is merely stating that humans are more complex than we would like to believe. The video serves as a foil for recognizing the complexity of persons by showing that John Wayne Gacy Jr. had normal aspects to his life; thus forcing the viewer to acknowledge their own complexity, good and bad.

  • @LugubriousWanderers the thing is... Sufjan is not just saying that its not a big deal, our imperfections, and our sins. he is, in fact, saying, ' the secrets i have hid' in the sense that his secrets are awful too... and... we have to look at the entity of the song.. it is creepy! the music- if he is rated 'most intelligent' there is a reason. the music has an eerie tune to it, purposefully. Sufjan knows the evoked feelings that will result, and the judjment, but is saying:

  • @mariposalibertad Sufjan is saying " do not be so quick to judge" because i too, have secrets hidden ... (and so do 'you' his listeners) kind of thing

  • ya even killing

  • honestly its such a powerful example of the gospel. i'll probably get some hate for this, but please be easy on me, i'm not at all trying to anger anyone. the line though that says "in my best behavior, i am really just like him. look beneath the floorboards, for the secrets i have hid." we all screw up and mess up and have done bad things no one knows about. sure it may not be killing but sin is sin. but the good news is that all sin can be washed away by Jesus.

  • @dukedudez I think he is saying It is only God's place to judge...not ours.

  • @farfromfake I agree that only God can judge, but I don't know if that's what the line says. I think Sufjan is saying that his sins are just as bad as John Gacy's. This saying only makes sense in the Christian philosophy that all sin is equal, but in the world's view it'd be crazy that Sufjan is just as bad as Gacy b/c Sufjan hasn't killed a man. So, Sufjan is admitting that he's screwed up and sinned. I guess I just took it one step farther by saying that the blood of Christ washes all sin

  • @dukedudez Anyone can judge anyone they like. We do have people called judges for a reason, you know. Also, the concept of sin is ridiculous as is the comparison to having anger towards someone to murder.

But, actually towards the song, it is haunting and so amazing.

  • @CallMeRiverton Maybe i took this song to far, and I'm sorry for offending anyone and for taking up a lot of comments. But what i meant is that god's judgement is the only one that will matter. Sure people and judges can say what people did was bad, but in the end of our life and of this world, God is going to judge us for who we were. Good deeds won't save us. Only Christ can.

  • @dukedudez how can Jesus save us/wash away our sins?

  • @mariposalibertad can he save me?

  • @mariposalibertad No. You must save yourself from the silliness of this concept of 'sin.' It is used by religions to control you and make you feel horrible about being human. Live your life well, be the best person you can, and don't sweat the small stuff, you'll be fine.

  • @CallMeRiverton OMG you are a genius. thats exactly how i roll. ;D and im athiest lol

  • @dukedudez been there done that. doesn't work. i came to the conclusion that it doesn't make sence do to the fact that "sinning" is nesessary at times. lieing and sex outside of marrige are needed at some givin point. If youre wife said she looked fat in a dress weighed 400 lbs would you say she looked sexy..i think not. if sin is nesasary that kind of defeates the purpose that Jesus died on the cross for our sins in which he hates so badly. doesn't make any sence to me

  • @iceddust69 I understand what you're saying man. That's a good question, and I honestly don't believe there's a solid answer to whether lying is always bad. I live my life to try and follow the two greatest commandments: love God and love others. If telling my wife that she was fat would hurt her, then I wouldn't say that and I'd say something loving, like "You look beautiful." I wouldn't be lying if I said that. I wouldn't be sinning if I said that. I would be loving.

  • @CallMeRiverton i don't mean to insult you or anything, i just want to have a conversation/discussion...the thing is.. not all 'world judges' are fair. that has been proven time and time again. the thing is that humans are imperfect, thus human judgment. does that make sense to you? i actually find the song haunting as well, but find it hard to listen to because of that.

  • @mariposalibertad I don't think your god is fair. Eternal torture simply for the crime of not believing in something that has no evidence is eternally unfair and eternally immoral.

  • @dukedudez im sorry for breaking it to you, but your sins wont be washed away by anyone. Your responsibility stays with you, as it should. I hope you will come to terms with that.

  • @IneffableLifestyle washing away doesn't mean forget. i will always remember my sins, but God forgives me for them and loves me as if i did not sin. that's what i mean by washed away.

  • @dukedudez You're missing the point totally sir. If you look anywhere you will find biblical connotations, if you read into it enough. This is a fabricated fable in sing song about John Wayne Gacy, the abhorrent serial killer. Don't look for meaning where there isn't any, and stop dragging Jesus into everything. Some of it's just music.

  • @inchao i was just going to say exactly that, but i scrolled down and saw it was already done lol ;)

  • @inchao Sorry for upsetting you bro. I was just stating my opinion of this song and what it reminded me of. I'm not trying to make you believe that this song is all about Christianity, because it is not. I agree with you that it's all about John Wayne Gacy. I just wrote about what one of the lines made me think of. And yes, I do try to drag Jesus into everything, because he's everything to me.

  • @dukedudez

I wouldn't have apologized, honestly; you didn't do anything wrong.

Sufjan is in fact a Christian so I wouldn't doubt if he himself had some meanings behind it that you found.

  • @inchao Yea! Am I the only one who sees 'him' and thinks "That must be about the male character".

  • @inchao

The beauty of music is that everyone can have a different opinion on what a song can be about, or, in this case, what they take away from it. Mr. Dukedudez took away different meanings than you did, and that's fine. It doesn't matter if he didn't get the same idea of the song as you. If you can't respect his own opinions on something, then you are the one that has a problem. Don't bash him for being himself.

  • @oyeboy94 Could not have put it better myself.

Everyone takes away a different meaning and experiences an after-affect from the music they listen to. If someone believes there is religious connotation in this song, good for him. He's clearly read into it in a different way than the other who simply believe it's 'just a song'.It's just like in English when you are analysing a poem. You might think the poet is using a metaphor to create a sense of foreboding in the reader. There's no right or wrong

  • @DamienHurts

Agreed. Poetry is a nice example.

  • @oyeboy94 So if i listen to a song about love, i can say that to me its about satan drinking tea.. ? "All you need is love" "Oh i love this song about dwarfs" Just because it is his opinion doesnt make it right, in this cause he is wrong. Opinions are more like "i like this song" "i dont like it". If i go to a betales video and say i love this song about dwarfs, do you really expect people to defend me and say : hey ! thats what he got from the song even though its about a racoon..... errrrrr

  • @inchao Sure, it's just music, but the song also has narrative that you are choosing not to acknowledge.. this song is filled with intentional Biblical connotations and it wouldn't be the same without it.

  • @inchao Sufjan Stevens is a christian man, and he does sing about his faith quite often. There are some biblical connotations in this song whether you want to believe it or not. stop being so closed minded and intolerant, and next time, before you start bashing people on their interpretations of CHRISTIAN MUSIC, you should check and make sure that what youre saying is true. What i saw was a load of bull, other than the part that this is a song about John Wayne Gacy. Have a nice day :)

  • @inchao When you get to know the difference in between poetry and a police report, you will stop posting dumb commentaries. This song makes no apology, either to God or Serial Killing. This song is about a kid with a good heart writing about how the ugliness in the world touches him. Sufjan is Peace.

  • @inchao There is always meaning. No one writes without deeper meaning.

  • @dukedudez would you care to elaborate on how sins can be washed away by jesus.

  • @dukedudez im going to kill 12 babies and rape 4 girls, then on the day of my death, repent my sins and mean it. does that mean i go to heaven? you make no sense, look to the stars for truth you god fearing man

  • @elementalfunk Well, if you repent to nothing, then you of course you won't go to heaven. However, if you truly became a Christian and repented, then yes, I believe you would go to heaven. But that's something only God knows. We'll never truly know how many deathbed Christians actually meant it, or if they just said it for security.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

  • It's so tender. It's like a love song.

  • John Wayne Gacy was the Don Juan of little boys butt fuckin' em' while they were handcuffed. And that's how you're supposed to make love to little boys before you beat them half to death and burry them alive in your crawl space when they're still breathing. Don't stop believing.... hold on to this feeling... Street Lights... People in my crawl space.

  • this song doesnt even rhyme n it still sounds beautiful altho its a sad song.

  • "Even more, they were boys with their cars, summer jobs. OH MY GOD."

  • this tempts me to watch Dexter

  • @AdventureTimeXabi

I know. Im saying that this guy, Gacy, would definitely be the kind who WOULD end up on Dexter's table. John Wayne is nothing like him, except for the fact that the last line of the lyrics points out that everyone has a dark side. I think Gacy had an illness though, not only because he was physically hurt and had brain damage at an early age, but also because his past had affected his future from becoming mentally stable enough not to hurt the innocent

  • I loved this song, until I started thinking about the lyrics, now it just freaks me out

  • @kfcfunera1 I liked this song a little bit until I started to listen to the lyrics. Now it makes me tear up due to introspection.
