A gaming PC is not just for gaming like a console, it's like a console + a PC, thus making it ~$300 more than your normal PC that you likely own. If seen in that perspective, you will realize a gaming PC is no more expensive. Whatever you guys have presumed about PC gaming is incorrect or exaggerated, & I don't know why you continue to challenge PC gamers who naturally know more about it than you. If you are told that you are wrong, it's more than likely that you are wrong.

@HostelEffect LOL wow spoken like a true pc elitist. Should I bow or curtsy? What you don't understand is that many people just don't like to play games on their PC. People want dedicated hardware something that is used just for gaming. That's where consoles come in. Just because something can play games doesn't make it a console. Your cellphone can play games, does that make it a gaming console? Many people have old outdated PCs that can do everything except play modern games.

The Xbox has an x86 processor, dual core, running at about 2 and a half ghz.

The PS3 has a powerpc processor, with 8 cores, and runs slightly faster (Not per core, collectively)

The Xbox has an onboard GPU, that shares memory with the system.

The PS3 also has an onboard GPU, but with dedicated memory. (The dedicated memory in graphics cards is lightyears faster than normal RAM.)

Yes, the CPU in the ps3 WAS powerful 3-4 years ago, but unfortunately, the GPU and RAM in the system are a huge downfall, and actually less advanced than the older 360. Neither system is powerful anymore. I dont know who told you that about "untapped power", it only has 516MB of RAM. It doesn't have a hidden teasure inside, waiting to be found. 3-4 years ago your statement would hold SOME water, not anymore. 360/ps3 are fun, PC all the way

@shortway444 What I mean is that if one desires graphics, one should game on pc.However, pc doesn't have much exclusives such as wii/xbox360/ps3.In other words,for multi platform games,go for pc...for exclusives like mario,god of wars,etc ,go for consoles.My advice,go for a console and a gaming pc.Now gaming pcs are cheap,lets say 500$ with Phenomx4 and ati 5770 and you can rip ps360 together easily.So,let's stop fanboys saying that ps3 has better graphics and gaming on pc is expensive.

@shortway444 Go and search ps360 frameratre analyser and in any gaming web page and search for HD resolution in consoles and you find than the resolution in most ''heavy'' games from ps360 are 1280x720 and even in sub HD like 640p.Type GTA IV for ps3 at 1184x640 resolution.Even though playing at 720p is nice,stop sony saying that people should buy their 1080p TVs to game if ps3 can't handle it ,ps3 just upscales,so it doens't look that good.

And these are just small scenes made to show off the tech demo, not like the huge areas you see in Crysis 1 on PC. No wonder Crysis 2 will be set in New York its probably because the console frame rates cant handle the full on detail of the jungle envinroment.

The Xbpx 360 has a 500mhz GFX card with 256 mb of Vram.

That's like running Crysis at full detail on a 6 year old card.

That chipset was designed for HL2, not CRYSIS.

I'm suprised the damn Xbox doesn't catch on fire, some of that's probably rendering on-cpu...

@Remoth000 That's incorrect, While developers do have to make some compromises with consoles, "massively dumbed down" in an overexaggeration. Optimization allows consoles to output graphics that are still pretty decent for having 5 year old chipsets. To help make my point, I once had Bioshock running on a low end pc on low settings the framerate was unstable and graphically it looked much worse then the 360 version. Even though it was a low end pc, it's specs were higher then a 360.

@Zain844 Not true. An example is texture memory; PCs since 06 have had GPUs that have 2x as much VRAM than what the X360 has in it's GPU. Artists have had to create separate material databases in which textures resolutions are halved for the console. Models are sacrificed too, they switch over to their LOD counterpart twice as early to keep performance stable. Good lighting & visual style hide bad textures and low detail a bit, but optimization is not a trick.

@Zain844 As for the PC you used to run Bioshock, something had to be bottlenecking to cause bad performance. Using any PC isn't going to work. What's strange is that you can have a $500 PC that can do some gaming, & have another that can't. You must have a balanced PC to play games, meaning that if Bioshock was killing your GPU because it's weak, performance will strain. Likewise, having a strong GPU and slow CPU will mean that the slow CPU will strain game performance.

Call of Duty Black Ops looks and plays just fine on my 360 and I prefer the Xbox live community over the pc community so tell me, why should i upgrade just to play the same game on PC? If you are a dedicated PC gamer then i get it. for $500 you can build a pc that outperforms a 360.

My pc is an off the shelf acer from wal mart with onboard video. It's not a gaming pc but it does everything else i need it to do. so for me it would be more expensive because id have to upgrade.

THIS IS FALSE. a 360 can run Lost Planet 2 at a much higher framerate then any low end PC can. same with L4D2 and many other games. Have you seen Oblivion on low settings? it's look god awful compared to the 360 version

Have you even taken a look at what they're actually running? On a lot of pc games, running the game on low means taking all detail textures, normal maps, shadow maps, specular reflections, ect. off of ALL objects, as well as lowering texture resolution and polycount.

On consoles, however, these visual elements are only left on important/close objects. This means that the objects that are close enough for you to see (since console games run at low resolutions) only look good.

All direct feed videos released so far are from March (I think), whilst the completed version of CryEngine 3 was released in October. This means that it will probably run better than seen here :)
