Locks of Love only sell hair which is unusable (i.e. if people haven't read the instructions and have sent in unsaleable hair) and alopecia can be devastating to a child's self esteem. Cancer patients have TE, alopecia kids may never grow it back. So I'd say they were equally worthy causes.
The head of Locks of Love earns about half what other CEOs earn and the money they get from selling hair goes straight back into the fund. It is definately not a scam.
