Actually, I just watched it again, and let me say...I was wrong...J.D. Fortune has NO TALENT!. And looks like a 12 year old trying to be a cool, adult man!.
This is sad. I'm sure J.D. BY HIMSELF is talented in his own right. When you think of INXS...you think of Michael Hutchence!. The band should have honored Michael by retiring the name & if they wanted to continue making music...do it under a different name & back off from so many songs that MICHAEL HUTCHENCE SANG!. It's painfully embarrassing to watch this!.

I then heard the same concert here and it was crap LOL! No JD is not Michael,but he has a great voice and helped put on a great show.
Lets just face it INXS is nothing without Hutchence. INXS will be gone with the sands of time but Hutchence music will live on. It just doesn't work when you play the same songs with different people. I would rather remember INXS the way they were before. They did enough and made great music they are a legend, and they don't need to keep making more.

Why should they quit what they love because Michael is gone? Michael would never have wanted that. Kirk is a good singer,he was the lead singer before Michael.Michael took over because he was the only one who could not play an instrument. Andrew wrote most of the songs, they are all self taught talents.
INXS sure missed the boat picking this guy to be their front man....there was a scraggly, blond guy they tried out who seemed to fit the image more....forget his name....
JD definately does not have the stage appeal that Michael had... but JD also does not have the pipes either -he really does not! JD doesn't always stay in tune and I have NEVER EVER heard Michael's voice sing out of tune -Michael always had perfect pitch always! You just can not compare the two vocally. I also think as time goes on JD's vocals are sounding worse! It is not just this video clip there are many others!
I like JD, he is no Michael, but he does good stuff and his songs on Switch were very good. I will say of all the INXS songs I think this is his weakest. I also think in these later appearances where he has the scruffy beard he was off a bit from the drugs. He has since cleaned up his act and hope he learned a lesson and he and INXS put out another album.
Imitations just don't work. This is proof. Big shoes to fill and you can't do it just trying to imitate. This guy needed to refresh the group. Otherwise he would always fall short as a Hutchence imitator.
JD Fortune WAS the right choice made by INXS to being able to continue to share their music with the world. Michael would want his music to live on. Enough with the comparisons!
Man, Sananda Maitreya(Terence Trent D'arby)is/was a great singer performer and loved INXS. He sang with INXS for a show after Michael died. It woulda been cool if they worked more together.
I notice a few comments about INXS not having a choice after Michael passed... well guess what they did! but for the true fans they decided on the total wrong choice ! JD Fortune will never be true INXS material.. INXS should have stayed true to thier word and gone back to the name "The Farris Brothers" or turned "present day INXS" into a tribute band and not focus on one new frontman who is a total disaster. This JD Fortune is nothing more than a plastic pop idol.
I spose INXS didn't really have much of a choice when Michael died, JD is probably the closest person to Michael that they could find. Although my opinion would be Jimmy Barnes maybe, i don't really know ???two great aussie legends performing together??? it might've pulled bigger crowds maybe?
@AbbeyDoor I was thinking the same thing... it took me a while to figure out he was "trying to sing" elegantly wasted. Michael would be so diappointed at what they did to his beautiful song -I know I am. It sounded like a wounded cow moaning to me!
charisma is something that can't be done but born with,that's the difference,and of course MICHAEL did it....he was born full of charisma.Sorry J.D,you doesn't.
I Think JD is a good singer, but I think the big difference between them is (and sorry my poor english) the charisma , I think Mike had 1.000.000 more charism and was much more frontman that JD ,it´s not about the vocal skill..... .
I hope if you haven't seen them live with JD that you will give them a chance and go if you get a chance. JD actually is very charismatic in his own right. He isn't trying to be Michael -- just himself. PLUS -- They are all very talented and put on a hell of a show with a lot of awesome music.
If you have been to a concert with JD and it wasn't for you -- then fair enough, we can't all like everything the same. :)
I think JD's doing an amazing job. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ONE MICHAEL. But JD's doing great and as far as his doing a little experientation with a classic, why not? I thought it sounded great with a cool moody feel to it. LIVE ON ROCK ON INXS!

Oh, By My Side.. I LOVE By My Side. You'll notice that's the only other song I kept taping on. :) Everytime I've seen them By My Side's been fantastic.
