yes, they are called hama beads

they are quite good for doing stop motion, but you are meant to put them on the boards and iron them :)

I used to play with those as a kid. My granda gave us crap because my cousin left the iron FACE DOWN on her carpet when we were making them and left a triangle melty burn mark in her carpet LMFAO that was YEARS ago though when we were 9 or so. Ah Memories!
