Great review. Probably the best I've seen since a lot of people hate and abuse these poor cars. I have an '06 Base Model in the Inferno Red. I replaced the awful looking steel wheels and hubcaps with sportier 16' alluminum wheels and it looks SO much better. They look like stock rims too! Not those huge, ridiculous ones. I just took it on a roadtrip and put about 500 miles on it in a few days, it drove like a champ! Check out my channel for videos on it. These are great cars.
I got my first cruiser in july this year 2011, a 2002 2ltr petrol, with 90,000 on the clock, I drove her off the dealers yard and boy she drove like as if new, I know becouse a week before Id drove a new car from a showroom for a friend. my cruiser is such a joy to drive, not had so much fun since owning a vauxhall cresta pb back in the 70,s, ho, and if you drop all the seats down including the front passenger seat, you have the perfect sh****ng wagon.
I have a 2008 Pt base model and it has manual seats, no cruise, manual side mirrors, but I only paid $12,800 for it new. I really like how much room is in it with the backseats folded down. It does handle good on corners, like he said. The reason you hear the engine noise go up is because at a little over 4,000 RPMs the engine is at its peak torque and working for you. Let off the gas and it is not loud at all.
I have a 2008 Pt Base model. Truth only on it. I have had it for almost exactly 2 years and got it brand new with 19 miles on it for $12,800 with no trade in. "That was a deal" I have almost 25,000 miles on it now. I drive 20 miles oneway to work with only 2 traffic lights, mostly a 65mph hwy. I get 19mpg - 20 mpg. I thought about tradeing it in for a car with better gas mileage, but for the price of a new car I will lose a lot of money. My point get a cheap car 20mpg and you will save money.
The PT is larger than a Scion XB. Much larger. Gas mileage is similar to the Chevy HHR which was designed later and is around the same size. I suspect if buyers were willing to live with a less responsive engine, they could gain gas mileage, but most buyers don't want to rev high in everyday traffic.
@kellytaylor407 I don't want to sound like an a-hole or anything but I am wondering what about this car does one look at and say "that car is for me"?
@OI8APC2 People Like the retro styling. Its actually a fun car to drive compared to most of the other cars I've driven. People must like them or else Chrysler wouldn't have sold over a million of them.
i test drove one of these today and really liked it. after that, i test drove the fit. there was really no comparison and i was surprised that the honda fit lost that race.
Really like the 06-2010 pt cruisers. Car sounds good!
