You must of been watching somebody else because sp in his 94 concert that I was there was excellent and getting standing ovations in the middle of his songs!!! His new solo album comes out in 2010 and when he tours then we will see whos right!!!

Check him out on the Revelation album, the decide whether SP is still better, or even at the beginning of the tour...Listen with an open mind...nuff said.
Both SP and AP have the voice,,,but putting a heart to a song, that where AP has the advantage, it takes real life experiences for a singer to put emotions to a song.
SP is a Rock God and will always have a special place in many hearts and deserves the respect of all rock music loving savants.
But this AP is an incredibly soulful, goosebump raising, soaring rock n roll voice with so such depth and emotional range that to compare him to another Journey singer isn't fair to the other guy!

Live version and studio version are very big difference. Kudos to Arnel for performing it flawlessly live!. Studio version can be corrected ,enchange, fix to make it sound better.
True they are both good except the end of the song when Perry's voice loses texture while Pineda's voice kept soaring!! Just imagine if Pineda does a studio version! ;) which I don't think they would because the re-record of the classics with Pineda shows how much better Pineda's voice is compare to Perry...

I run this and the original SP verion on a voice analyzer, AP sound like he's not into the top yet, the way it sounds AP can still go higher, maybe a couple of keys higher than SP, no wonder AP can sing songs from Survivor, Cheap Trick, Heart, Kenny Loggins, Aero, Air Supply, LedZep

Steve Perry is very much better than Arnel, hands down, no arguing, no nonsense, Pineda cant even go as shrill and high as Steve could do with ease. Could try though.

brianwhitely101, you're listening to Arnel almost at the end of a 69 concert tour, when the poor guy has already had a few bouts with illness. Not only that he's pretty tired at this point. You'd be exhausted too, and not at your par. Wait till he returns from hiatus to kick butt again..you'll be pleasantly surprised. Check him out on the Revelation album, the decide whether SP is still better, or even at the beginning of the tour...Listen with an open mind...nuff said.

SP is a Rock God and will always have a special place in many hearts and deserves the respect of all rock music loving savants.
But this AP is an incredibly soulful, goosebump raising, soaring rock n roll voice with so such depth and emotional range that to compare him to another Journey singer isn't fair to the other guy!
After hearing SPs terrific version of this song on UTube and then hearing this, I realized he isn't a great SP, he's a great, one and only AP, in a vocal class by himself!

Live version and studio version are very big difference. Kudos to Arnel for performing it flawlessly live!. Studio version can be corrected ,enchange, fix to make it sound better.

True they are both good except the end of the song when Perry's voice loses texture while Pineda's voice kept soaring!! Just imagine if Pineda does a studio version! ;) which I don't think they would because the re-record of the classics with Pineda shows how much better Pineda's voice is compare to Perry...
IMO, they should not do that because it will only incense the Perryloonies!! lol

He sang this on original key. I run this and the original SP verion on a voice analyzer, AP sound like he's not into the top yet, the way it sounds AP can still go higher, maybe a couple of keys higher than SP, no wonder AP can sing songs from Survivor, Cheap Trick, Heart, Kenny Loggins, Aero, Air Supply, LedZep
& John Farnham. I was wondering though if he did any Chaka Khan song. Any of you guys happen to captured one on video during their gigs on Manila before journey's discovery of him?

Why compare AP with SP, when AP is a replacement of JSS, not with SP? Does this mean, SA and JSS are not worth-mentioning as part of Journey history? IMO, that's not a fair comparison.
Anyway, whatever... Irrefutable fact remains...

With AP's soaring voice, he makes all cover songs, remakes, sounds good or better. The new songs bears his signature and may be hard to imitate.

Go through these and be prepared to appreciate AP more!
