    Happy New Year

  • Agreed. It certainly was the best fireworks I've seen as well, I was there in the crowd watching the show.

  • oh shit china is fucking Ghetto with their firework builgings.

  • This is Hong Kong, not "China"...

  • but hong kong is in China.

  • but Hong Kong is a high tech ghetto where as China is not....

  • Most of China's is quite developed now. Where have you been all these years? Haven't you seen the progressed made in Beijing,Shanghai,Dalian,Chongqing,Guangzhou,Shenzhen, etc. China within 4yrs built a highspeed railway network and by mid 2010 will be the worlds largest. The USA doesn't even have one. Google around China isn't as behind as you might think anymore.

  • Only Guangzhou was the first city in mainland China to meet IMF's definition of "Developed City" aka GDP per capita > $10K with $13.5K compared to Beijing's $8K and SHanghai's $8.5K back in 2005.

Now in 2010, probably Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen has reached "developed city status" by IMF standards.

  • Hong Kong actually has separate representation in Olympics, WTO, APEC, WHO, G-20, etc... because it's distinct from China (socialism is not practiced in HK)

  • It does but the whole point everyone is trying to make here is that Hong Kong IS part of China. It is called "The Special Administrative Region of China" China flag is the country flag, Hong Kong flag is but a territory flag. The armed forces are the Chinese military.

  • Hong Kong has it's own flag. It's independent currency that is the 9th most traded in the world. China's RMB isn't an international currency like HK dollar and isn't even convertible for US dollar.

HK does not pay tax to CCP, Mainland CHinese national laws do not apply in HK. HK is a separate and distinct entity and is generally regarded as an off shore international financial centre of China.

  • Hong Kong is highly autonomous, but it is not a sovereign nation.

It's like Puerto Rico of US. No one considers Puerto Rico a state in the US. It's like it's little independent island with a distinct political and economic system.

  • 4 hours left!

  • NepalmyPride, tht is IFC ( International Finance Centre - 88 Floors )... The tallest building in HK is ICC ( International Commerce Centre - 118 Floors )

  • we got tree more yaers to live unto 2012.
