  • There is no original kitt..many cars were used in the making of the series Thonk!!

  • As I am aware of, there is none original cars from the show. They were told from Pontiac that all cars should be destroyed. But again.. Your hear so much crap now and then, right?

  • Kitt is CYLON!!!

  • or how much it did cost

  • i wonder,how much does it cost???,

  • I put "door pops" on my KITT...they are remote controlled and usually used for "shaved doors", that is, doors with no handles. When I hit the remote button once, the doors unlock, twice and the driver's door pops open. Again and the passenger side door opens.

  • I put "door pops" on my KITT...they are remote controlled and usually used for "shaved doors", that is, doors with no handles.

  • It only let me write a limited amount. Anyway, too much gloss. Thirdly, the dash runs off its own power. I say this because for the cars we built, the dash had to literally be plugged into the wall to light up and the lit up dash was a separate piece FROM the car which means that the lit up dash was not even inside the car period. This was so that they could get good camera angles of it. This is not the original car. It is a replica. I am glad that I could clear this up for everybody.

  • I know for an absolute fact that this is NOT an original, screen used car. I WORKED on the cars for Universal Studios for the series, and everything about the car is entirely wrong. For starters, the scanner is wider on this car than an original. The scanner on the original car was thin and "hard-wired" to the car battery. Secondly, the nose is all wrong. No turn signal blackouts. Thirdly, the car is WAAAAY too shiny. In the show, we painted the cars with a very toned down level of gloss.

  • @ljw2979 how did they get the doors and hood and hatch to pop open remotely?

  • @ljw2979 you worked on the cars for the series, yet you are 31 Years old??

  • @DJCJHiggs He must have been like the Doogie Howser of mechanics!

  • @ljw2979 Lets make this straight.. You are FAR to young to have worked on the original cars in the show.. If you knew ANYTHING about a replica and the original series then the scanner is correct as it follow the natural line of the hood. The original car proberly had two batteries in it.. In season 1-2 they had these turn signal blackouts and then they changed the nose in season 3. In the forth season they removed that hole in the mose. Look at the difference from sean 1 to season 4!

  • Is there a engine in there????

  • Can it really drive

  • In the 80s they were sampling kitt i think for sales cuz it was a big thing on tv as a show when we were growing up and everyone loved to watch it,fun days.

  • it is one of the originals

  • wheel covers....ahahahaha

  • Wooooooooooooow i want such a car!!!!!!!!

  • the swoosh sound would get annoying after a while

  • what type of car was kitt?

  • @cdbils001 KITT was a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. If I ever won the Lottery I'm building a KITT replica.

  • @GESSO217 thanks mate i know what you mean still looks fine even though it is almost 30 years old

  • @cdbils001 As far as I'm concerned there are very few new cars out there that look as good the 82 Trans Am. Maybe I'm being Biase because it's my dream car.

  • original was totally black

  • In the museum "Cars from the Stars" in Keswick (UK) are two original KITT's one of them is the convertible version.

Normally it's easy to notice or it's an original KITT or not, just look at the windshield,,, if it has the blue tinted stripe at the top, then it's most likely a replica.

  • Is this the same KITT that is mentioned in another video at the same garage where the reporter states that the car is not roadworthy as the dash and other parts are not road legal? I have an original KITT Scanner from a stunt car and at's made from a type of hard board and 15w bulbs...

  • There are many originals left , this maybe one but you have to know what to look for and this video shows nothing to suggest it's original thats not to say its not tho, just this video does not look at areas you must check to confirm its original or not, take it from one who knows who has seen and worked on original cars there are some still around 5 I know off 3 belong to friends of mine. O and the Keswick car isn't original it's a car built for the tour and later sold by David to Peter nelson

  • If you have doubts or this is an real original car, then yes it is.

It's only restored so, that's why it has new tires and new paint job etc.

  • Isn't KITT!

    Front lights! That's my point!

  • I would do anything to get that car :)

  • there ARE NO ORIGINALS anymore. when do you guys learn?

  • That's cool so see it up close! It brings back memories...

  • way cool

  • Original clasic stuff should be kept the way it is... not polished and new tyres!

That will just spoil the car.

  • there were 4 cars, the producers were using, and 1 survived, so this may be the original kitt

  • Looks like a replica to me. The voice box is really wrong

  • oh my God what a beauty every time i see it brings back my childhood memories.

  • @TheDanceofjoy that special feeling sure is nice

  • My brother bought a KITT car from a guy up in Washington. It's not in great shape, it's had its 305 rebuilt (looks REALLY NICE) and is going to need it's paint redone (he did a HORRIBLE job on the paint) but it's got a lot of the expensive parts put on it. It should be at least somewhat kinda sorta done within the year.

  • @sgtpepper1138 btw, I did a video of us picking it up on the channel the fiveawesomerejects. Check it out if you'd like to see it.

  • Sadly, this is not an original KITT and the dealer is misrepresenting it. None of the actual cars used by the studio had an actual 'voicebox' in it, and vertainly didn't have those bright halogen lamps in the scanner bar. This is one of many replicas being made now by both private owners and small conversion companies.

1 of 3 'original cars' get out of town. Reputable people I can see.

  • @TheOddPilot It is the original. I've seen the original one at the Universal Studio lot. There are different version of KITT depending on what the duty calls for. This one is the show car that Michael would come out from.

Plus if you look at the nose you'll see the recess of the turn signal lights, whereas most kit cars are clean and the steering wheel is not as shiny as the ones that kit cars use. same thing for the TV monitors. Some of the gauges are made out of cardboard insted of real

  • If u were a celebrity or knew one i bet you that george barris of barris customs in burbank ca. will build one for you

  • this isnt the real car...

  • My Dream Car. I want one !!

  • Weren't all original knight rider KITT's had to be crushed because of a conflict between universal studios ? .. universal studios destroyed them didnt they?

  • they found the orginal general lee from the 1st season in a junkyard. I read where David hasseloff kept 3 of the cars (kitt's) after the show ended. Maybe he kept this one and sold it.

  • @jennmeto The Hoff sold his kitt to a car museum in the UK called "cars of the stars"

  • @keleent yeah, i believe so. it was because of Pontiac's agreement between universal. but soon after, what they did do is make "official replicas". universal made their own replicas. but they were as crude as the originals, and most unofficial replicas made by people like you and i are much better than that in terms of the dash.

  • Where is this? so i can steal it. Man could you imagine to own this original kitt?

  • ! ! ! COOL ! ! !

  • Can I please have this car?

  • Not excatly the original from the pilot and the first few epissodes because at 0:45, KITT has the three row voice box but the original had the one solid block

  • Looks like a season 1 car... and $150 is about right for a real one.

  • @Survivalist45 no offence but can you read???? its not 150$ its 150,000$ 150,000=150k

  • Magic - there will never be a car as awesome as this.

  • That´s true. I also don´t understand why the car manufacturers doesn´t make cars like this one any longer. Even if this one was in the real world not much powerful, but at least it looks like that it was.

  • should this thing be wourth millions?

  • I would rather own a replica, seeing as I do not own a museum.

  • Even now after 25 years this trans am still

looks awesome I wonder If my wife would get me one for christmas

  • i want a kit kat

  • HAAHaa 150K$ the guy is out of his Gord.

  • @Lush246 That's because your net worth is probably only 3 cents....

  • very very rare sight if i had 200 grand i would buy that car only after confirming it was the one from the show and not a replica i swear there so many replicas its hard to tell which one is real and which aint real sheesh but i still love those cars thanks for posting this

  • I want take a picture of me inside of kitt

  • me to in the new kit ..hehehehehe

  • i'am knight industri twothausand you can call me kitt

  • IT'S ALIVE! :D

  • and im going to own it 1 day

  • i saw one of these driving one day i was like WTF is that :P

  • 130 k is too much for that car !!! I would pay up to 30k , not a penny more. It's that expensive just because DAVID HASSELHOF rode on it. I prefer to buy the new night rider car and i'm sure its worth much less than 150k

  • As much as I love that KITT I want the new KITT

  • @ a01083174

dude, back in the days john travolta did wear a white suit in the movie saturday night fever, and that suit you could buy anywere in those days, but his suit was sold for i believe 17000 dollars to a collector, and that's how it goes with items that were used by famous film stars.

  • gtabandit we have the same idea:)...except i want to take karr from season 3

  • why always humans demolish original things...why anybody tell me?

  • I want this car!! coolest car ever!

  • What is it saying? "Michael Knight?"

  • If that car is original then you should do the brick test or a hammer like Devon and Michael used in Episode one.

  • I think I would give everything I own for this car.

  • If that's an original, LOTS of work has been done to it. The nose is wrong...notice no signal covers, notice no fog lights with a grill in front. These are necessary for a Two TV dash. The interior is obviously a Season 1 by the 2 TV dash and correct lower console. However, Gullwing Steering wheel has notches and looks like flip-up buttons on the grips, which is a Season 4 steering wheel. Also, KITT NEVER had raised white lettering on his tires.

  • beast!

  • lol tht skanner noise did get freaky after a whiel lol

  • cool

  • kitt is aswome. wish that was my car

  • I thought all the originals were destroyed back in 1986 when the show finished? I suspect this is just a replica, very nice one though.

  • you are correct all the original's where destroyed.

man i wish i can go back in time and take one of the original's and store it in my garage.

  • I'm not too sure if ALL the originals were destroyed. Didn't George Barris auction one off a year or two ago???

  • nice car but that sound it makes is god damn irritating

  • hey stupid- it wouldnt be KITT without the scanner sound effect

  • it isn't the right Knight riders car and i can see on the windscreen a text.

  • Perhaps they put the text there WAY AFTER the show was finished when someone else took this original???

  • That ain't one of the original KITTS

  • And I am 30!!!!Yes,I am from Greece and I grew up watching the old Knight Rider(very popular in Greece and many other European countries)Vivaaaa the original KITT!!!!And for the (R)ustang,BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • they should of used a 2002 WS6 Trans Am

  • wow nice

  • this is a season 1 car. on season 1 they had 3 cars. the first was used on set for close-up cameras, with a correct dash. the second looked okay at a certain distance and got used for that purpose. the third only had the front scanner and no dash and this car was used for stunts. in my oppinion is the second car.

  • That would be a orignal, the Dash is kinda shady, watch season one and you can tell the difference between real and clone. btw, Serial No#? anyone. a original probably would have unique ID making certain it's authentic.

  • if that isnt the original it is a VERY good reproduction

  • das ist nicht K.I.T.T.

  • Now there's something seriously wrong here.... back in 83/84 I was an exchange student and my "parents" took me to Universal Studios where they had a KITT, the KTTT I sat in wasn't that shiny at all.... and once i asked about KITTs voice (which I didn't recognise) they asked me to leave the car..... according to official Pontiac records they used 14 real cars and unknowned scaled prop cars...

  • wrong

  • your joking right?

  • Your dead wrong!

  • NO way is the Mustang better. The only way you would even consider thinking that way is if your like between the age of 8-14 years and you have only seen the new knight rider.

Yes the new car looks alright. Im not gonna say it looks bad even though most people still think it does, but i will say that there is NO way that it looks better then the original KIT.

Not only that, but the original show was better to,the stunts were better, car was better, david hasselhoff was better, story, etc.

  • No I'm 31 and the old series have also seen.

  • I dunno man. The way i see it the Old knight rider being a trans-am is straight as an arrow with it completely black and the interior looking more advanced then that of the mustang.

Which is sorta embarassing considering the old KIT was in the 80's.The mustang seems a lot bulkier. I mean sure its completely black like the original KIT,but the interior lacks a lot of architecture and hardware. Plus the stunts in the newer show are VERY lacking in the newer show.

The new show needs more work.

  • yeah your fat moma!

  • northean is right - there aren't any original left - Universal had a deal with Pontiac that as soon as principal photography finished fro the last time, they would have to destroy all the hero and stunt props. This is so Pontiac could build 2 or 3 for Universal Studios and one for the Hoff and so on. This car may be one of those cars but I doubt it - I think it is probably just a very good replica. Why would they let someone get that close to it??

  • your right they all got destroyed apart from one even the one in universal studios is not original this could be it but its valued at $2,500,000 so i doubt they will let people jst go and touch it

  • that weird scanner noise must have gotten annoying after awhile

  • Well whichever this is, its one of 15 cars made back in the 80s. When I went to universal studios back then, I saw 6 of the 15 cars made. They had to coz after each turbo boost, the car came apart so each jump was done with 2 cars.

  • actually some of the stunts were not shot full scale. yep, they were using kitt models and throwing them around. and this is an actual technique used in many occasions in 80's - 70's cinema.

  • If I remember right, They did use a scaled down stunt car with a fiberglass covering for some of the bigger jumps. And you can tell where they used models. But they did jump actual cars in many of the stunts.

  • Great video! The car is even more fun to drive!

  • Cool!!!

  • this car got ASB??

  • Freakin' Superkewl.

  • will anyone lend me 150K ????????????

  • Wow, I can't believe that this is one of the originals...or is it THE original? Anyhash, I loved this car since I was like 5 years old; Now 29.

  • iwonder if thats the actual original knight rider car kitt i saw at a car show the original stunt car they used on the tv series it looked very different it looked like the car that was used on the 2 hour pilot episode

  • Yeah, i know it can talk in the series,, but i mean in real live.

  • The Kitt I drove chose not to speak to me;) If I remember correctly it had a couple of toggle switches that turned on the dash light effects, but that was it.

  • I worked at Universal Studios back in the early 90's and got to drive a KITT. The studio lot was out of gas, so I got to drive it to a gas station to fill it up. It had the california "KNIGHT" license plates. The inside was detailed out, but it wasn't a nice as it looked on TV. The TV screens were blue, so I think that they probably used them for "blue screen" special effects. It was pretty cool to get to drive it.

  • I heard it acualy can talk.

  • LOL.

  • it miss lights in the front end

  • there are auctly no more "orignal" K.I.T.T cars. All of the cars that were used in the original TV series were destroyed shortly after the show stopped aring. This is probaly just a replica.

  • That's what I heard. I believe that there's usually some kind of clause that requires the destruction of the TV show vehicles. I am not in the business so I really don't know....

  • Not true I saw an original over at Warner Bros. last yr. Talked to a guy there and it was an original KITT. They never destroyed all of them

  • yes but there was a rumor that there was one orginal car left

so mabey it is a orignal or mabey it just a remake

    who knows?

  • Hi, just wanted to ask, why would they destroy all the kitt cars. I would have loved to have one of the originals. That would be so cool. I have always been a bigg fan since the show came out and really always wanted one of these cars since, but the truth is,,, not going to happen, since I am not 37 and that was wwhen I was like 12 1/2 years old. I guess I better keep dreaming. anyway I just wanted to know why would they do a thing like that. That just don't seem right to destroy all the cars.

  • Actually, from what I've read in interviews with Hasselhoff, he actually owned one of the original cars, but sold it to a private collector. So, at least one of the original cars exists, and I imagine that with the popularity of the show in the 1980s, the studio would have put one in the Universal tour lot to drive fan interest. I doubt they would simply destroy them, with the heavy cash investment in them, but not all would be "hero" cars with the custom interiors. It'd be cool to own one.

  • You're right, most of the "KITT's" would have only been done on the outside, with just a couple with the full interior work, and there was a special mock-up of the dash on a sound stage where most of the effects / shots of kitts dash were done. So many originals may still exhist, but only a scant few with the full out dash as well.

  • Does anyone knwo where this place is or where you can Kitt close up like this?

  • This car was at Kasabian Motors in Livermore, CA. It's not there anymore.

  • it was sold for an amazing...get this....15,ooo or so....thats a real knee slapper..you would think it would sell for more

  • Nice and Classic....Knight Rider da bomb!!!

  • Does anybody know what that weird sound was supposed to be though?

  • the weird sound is the scanner, did you ever watch the show?

  • I used to love the show, 25 years ago.

  • I sat in one at a car show when I was small. I thought it really talked. They had a voice imitator talking into a cb radio with sound effects. I was so happy though, it was better than santa claus.

  • last year barrett jackson was supposed to sell one but never saw amy results does anyone know what happined

  • I wish that I can see the kitt that was on knight rider

  • Fuckin amazing! Wicked KITT 4 ever lucky shit who bought that.

  • 4 cars used in that tv show and this is the last one and as i know a Turkish guy bought it about 150.000$, in Turkey it still has many fans...

  • Yeah some of them never had a t.v. till the last 20 years.

  • AWESOME...AWESOME...!PURE EXCITEMENT!!thank you Mr.Glen A. Larson! He was the creator of all thing's cool back in the day!BattleStar Gallactica,Knight Rider, The Fall Guy and more!

  • I think Kenneth Johnson put out the other half of well known shows..

Incredible hulk six million dollar man and others..

  • yay Kitt rocks :) I know someone who (a long time ago) Was in LA and saw a semi pulling a truckload of Kitt's lol I went to universal studios but we didn't see Kitt, they only had the blues brothers car and a bunch of 2 fast 2 furious cars.

  • im 29 years old i grew up watching knight rider!!!!!KITT kicks ass man!!!

  • hell yeah it does

  • damn...are the lights making the noise??!

    haha cool.

kinda menacing if thats all u see on a dark night. the led light going back n forth n making that noise.

  • Whoever buys/bought KITT will have one heck of a cool TV car in their collection.

I only hope the new car they use for the Revived TV series does not tarnish the Knight Rider Franchise.

  • Very nice! Sometimes the scanner voice sounds a bit scary!

  • is this the original authentic car fron the tv series because the original car was more nicer anhd the under front banshee grill nose under carriage was closed out so this has to be from the episodes after the alternate version kitt 2000

  • where exist the original kitt from knight rider?

  • yea i went to that car show in dublin and i saw it in belive me its really cool see that car

  • i deffinitly gonna make a replica of this car KITT is awsome KITT rocks the world men

  • kitt is still the best car on knight rider

    thanks

  • How much for that cars.

    I want to buy.

  • he said 150 g's

  • Thanks.

  • Why do people keep putting White letter tires on these cars? K.I.T.T. Never once had white letter tires.

  • actually kitt had white writing on his tires in this one episode of knight rider

on the forth season the one with that truck

and kitt couldn't get up that hill

  • KITT never had white letter tires. In the episode you refer to he had spikes that came out of his tires for traction to get up that hill. But no white letters.

  • It did! Honest I checked and It did in early episodes. :)

  • The car is not an original. You can clearly see that it doesn't resemble the TV show cars. I wonder what "original" actually means.... An' no there were no white letter tires.... Not even on the one at Universal Studios....

  • yeah, and the fog lights arent even in the front

  • can it talk?

  • That is sweet, for sale hummmmm.... Well if I win the lottery consider it SOLD!

  • that looks so awsome seeing the true one and only kitt 2000 from the tv series fully restored to ts original conditon way AWSOME

  • Some of the kitt rplicas look better than the original

    but still nice

  • what a wonderful car
