I still can't believe the taxpayers of Glendale are tolerating this. I would be incredibly pissed off if my tax dollars were being used to support a privately owned hockey team, especially one that loses a hefty sum of money each year. I mean I can see why the city councillors would want to retain their arena's only tennant, but this team is clearly a sinking ship. How about the NBA instead? There must be a lot of details I don't know about this whole saga coz it just doesn't make sense.
@pensteel71 exactly...just look at what happened to minnesota...the perfect example
the north stars had a horrible owner, so attendance was lousy, and they ended up moving
the wild show up, and have 10 straight sell out seasons
also look what happened to the penguins...they were in a financial crisis, went bankrupt, but the right owners bought the team, and went on to win the stanely cup and have a huge fan base
that woman is complaining about lack of rent payments...
but if the coyotes leave, there will be NO payments at all...and on top of that, the city will have to spend money to keep a building with no tenant maintained
but if they would just let the deal go through, then hulsizer (who has said he would personally backed the bonds) can take control of the team to create a cashflow again, so the yotes can start paying glendale
The coyotes situation is pathetic. Bail them out or not, it doesn't change the fact that they are a team that loses tones of money. What kind of owner would want to be in that sort of situation???
