Surely feminists think that women should have more rights than men - all the ones i know do - they want the advantages of being male while retaining the exclusivity of the advantages of being female.
Thinking that men and women should be equal isn't called feminism, its just called "normal" or "sane".
Look up the definition. I've looked it up many times. It means women should be equal to men. There are different interpretations of it, but that's the basic definition. That's what most feminists I've ever known believes.
Depends on whose definition you go by - its not like there's an official one. Feminists I've known have wanted superiority, not equality - read their literature, I've seen similar propaganda from the nazis. unfortunately, a lot of people put themsemselves in groups like this then declare themselves better than all others, from racists to vegetarians. I say we're ALL equal. Our differences don't make any of us better.
A feminist is one who thinks women should be equal to men. A femanazi has taken this too far. A feminine woman knows women and men are different and embraces this. A true man treats women with kindness and respect regardless of any of the above, for the simple fact is that without women I can see no earthly reason to live for they so give me joy in every way. Women regardless are the compliment to man and together we are whole. When these women sing the world becomes more beautiful.
I wouldn't say that about all feminists flickeries- feminism just means you think men and women should be equal. Minutia over words can get excessive. I can understand both sides of the argument-honestly, I think it's in context. My Dad calls my Mom Babe-it's an affectionate term. Saying "she's a babe" means she's attractive.
However, for say a man to say to a police woman, "Hey Babe"-that would probably be taken as an insult. (And result in problems for said man, cuz police dont like that stuf
I don't understand you feminists, you dig up into the history of a word too much to see the meaning of the one saying it.
I can't speak for certain others, but when most of us men say babe to a woman we mean she has exquisite feminine qualities yet the spunkiness of life at the same time.
It's a FREAKIN COMPLIMENT, meant to sound informal and hip. God damn feminists! THE MEANING OF A WORD IS ONLY DETERMINED BY HE WHO SAYS IT, there is no point in insulting a random female on the street!
C'mon -lighten up with this "Babes" being so offensive Bullshit.RAP music lyrics often refer to chicks as "Bitches and Hoes". That's offensive. However, Med ieval Baebes" and "Dixie Chicks" offend no one -except stick-in-the-mud pseudo-feminsts.If these women performers want to call themselves Chicks and Baebes,so what? It's their business.
It is more often then not used as in a rather derogatory manner to describe or address women, although that isn't always the case. Some women don't mind as much as others (although I'd personally be irritated if someone called me 'babe'), so it's sort of on the fence as one of those 'no-no' words.
"babes in arms" , "babes in the woods" .... it has a long history of use, long before the hippies got to it. Although if anyone calls me "babe" outside the use of "baby" I'll be forced to punch them in the teeth :)
the derogatory term as melancholymisstress says is a less pleasent term and thats the usage i hate for the word babe.babe as in an infant is fien not babe as in when a man eyes up a women, i dont appreciate strangers saying hey babe, thanks babe e.t.c
babes, as in the derogatory term, has its origin in the word for infant. Babes meant babies before babies meant babies. the word babes, as derogatory, is a perversion of its original meaning.
Oh my..... Just Enjoy the great Music... If you don't like "Baebes" Then don't listen

What a gorgeous song from one of my favourite albums. I thought "Mirabilis" was a masterpiece until I heard "Illumination". What a piece of music.

how do u describe baebes? is it like babes? medieval babes? :S
nightmagic1987 3 years ago
It's more like babes as in the synonym for babies. But given as they are a group of attractive women, it could probably be interpreted either way.
