Totally Awesome!!! I grew up in the late 60's/Early 70's. Loved this show and still do! Loved and stilllove all the Anderson shows. Nothing like them today! Still as fresh and excitingas when they were first aired!
Wanted to be Joe 90', 'Cos I wore Specs a a child(still do!) but he was my hero as he wore specs and was a Secret Agent too!
OOH!...AND I desperatlely wanted that Fab Briefcase too! Sigh....Never did get it tho. Thanks for posting it.
Brings it all back to my 51 yr old brain. What about a movie re-make ? When the film industry re-makes an excellent movie from the 1960's & 70's and always seems to make a hash of it, do we want them to tarnish Joe 90 or say Captain Scarlet with a re-make
I had that suitcase as a kid, including all the gadgets and items shown, some bastard stole my silencer for the gun and I was devastated, best toy set ever.
Whatever happened to TV themes? I love the way this one sings without words. You know precisely when this one is singing 'Joe 90'. Nowadays they're almost all shite.
WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO PICK THIS UP AND DOA LIVE-ACTION REMAKE? They've done it with other hero characters - this one would trump them all! Please make a movie!
@00simonwise They did though Joss Wheedon (of Buffy and Angel fame) copied the idea for his dark thriller "Dollhouse" though the brainwashed killer in question was a sultry brunette!!!!
Came back for another listen. Terrific! They really should do a live-action movie update of Joe, keeping the intro and close-out music. BTW for an awesome remix of the intro try going to the "joe 9086 club mix" by weyeyeman. And turn up the volume!
@ffjkhguhgft - couldn't agree more, I never get tired of listening to this. String arrangement is incredible!! I was lucky enough to hear this played live at the Barry Gray memorial concert at RFH a couple of years ago
@Sharron8 You lucky blighter. I would have loved to have gone to that Barry Gray tribute concert. He has always been my favourite composer. I think that this piece is certainly Barry's finest hour.
I grew up in Slough in the 60's and used to pinch odd bits of old polystyrene scenery from the back of century 21 studios on the trading estate there. Me and a mate would get through the fencing round the back on a Sunday when it was quiet & there would be old stacks of polystyrene mountains etc stacked up in the open ready to be skipped I assume.
They were brilliant for playing with toy soldiers.
@ffjkhguhgft I have thought about it but you know what kids are like - the said polystyrene invariably ended up being broken up & mum telling me to get rid of it. Sigh.
It was a fantastic idea for a kid's show. Turning spectacles which could be a cause of playground bullying into something cool instead. Happy memories of Sunday teatimes watching Gerry Anderson series with sandwiches and cake!
So let me see if I remember correctly. This old fella straps his young son to a chair inside a metal cage, brainwashes him and them sends him into life-threatening situations? Where's the social services?
Wonderful. I always preferred the end theme to the main one. Really gets going around 31 seconds And the little drum break around 45 seconds. One of my favourite theme tunes of all time. And you get to see all of Joe's equipment! How many of us can recall trying to replicate Joe's attache case?!
If you want to see what Len Jones looks like (who provided Joe's voice) he can be seen in the Sam Pekinpah film "Straw Dogs"....A million miles away from Joe 90 but in there all the same :)

1) They should make more shows about 9 year old brainwashed assassins.
2) Exactly the same specs as Harry Hill wears - can he pick up brainwaves too?

To be honest here, I think this is Barry Gray's finest hour!
I just LOVE this music!
From the quiet, almost idyllic, child-like opening, to the gradual build-up to the action-;packed finale.
The string arrangement in this is WONDERFUL too. Just LISTEN.
A glorious theme, to a glorious tv series, of a much more glorious time.
