I was under the impression that Semi-Auto was when you had to pull the trigger to fire each round while an Auto is when you can pull the trigger and the rounds will cycle automatically into the chamber and continue firing without having to reset the trigger.... @caseyr1 So on any gun that is semi automatic you can just bull the trigger and then the gun will load another cartridge and then the firing pin will strike the next bullet...nope because you have to pull the trigger again so the hammer will strike the firing pin and strike the next bullet. I've never heard a gun company classify a gun as full auto when it is not.

I was pointing out that rifles specifically are divided into two main classes "Automatic" and "Single/Break/Pump etc Action". Automatic is then usually sub classified as semi-auto, burst or automatic or what you incorrectly identified as "Full-automatic" which is an American term that doesn't technically exist they are known as "automatic firearms".

Guns arent banned here in Australia Only semi auto rifles. they are trying to ban semi auto handguns too. Our laws are tight and its hard to get any firearm but youre right. In the year following the ban on Semi autos our gun crime alone rose. let alone regular crime. we cant carry a weapon here unless to and from hunting, gun shop or range and never could, so the self defense thing here never was an issue. I hunt and shoot and resent the further tightening of our gun laws. Pointless!
