Im going to review the quality of this review, yes you can add a + sign! press in on the scroll wheel while in the body of the msg and click insert symbol, and yes you can delete more than 1 email or contact by holding shift and scrolling up and down..
yeah, you do need wifi, but who would pay for something so stupid like this, you could just use your cell phone. I could see if you paid like 70 dollars for this device and you get like time text, then that's different, but simply texting for "x" amout of dollars. Boooooo it sucks.
I have been using an LG voyager with Verizon for almost a yea now (with email and web capabilities), but just picked one of these up for $15 at Target. I like that it's a dedicated email device instead of my phone. I'm going to be changing my plan at Verizon today so that I'll actually be saving money each month. Sure it's $19 a month for email, but that's great compared to what I'm paying now, plus it's got free unlimited texting once you get the FREE upgrade to peek pronto. fun to use.
it was 15$ at target today.. iwas 2 seconds away form buying it then it say that you have to pay per month, so its 15$ the device then 15$ per month...my phone can do 20 times more things than the peek...well for the price it was intresting
It costs only $19 for the device and 15/mo for service . . . this is pretty damn cheap and I'm weighing whether or not I need this or not!!! I'm trying to declutter my gadgets, but I can't help myself.
doesn't need wifi. it's connected to it's own wireless in the same way that cell phones are. plus i've head lots of stories that they have better reception than cell phones in remote spots.
actually on the deleting email part u can delete at least 50 messages at a time all u have to do is press in shift and start scrolling up or down and u can get rid of 50 in one shot
Umm... First off, this video is pretty old: Now the new Peeks actually do have text messaging. Most likely they fixed the rubber peeling off problem (I stared in horror as the keyboard rubber peeled off a bit on the video) and much other problems that they had in the past. I would reccomend the Peek now that it remains $20.00 after giving customers unlimited text and email!
The peek is actually cheeper than texting on a cell phone a cell phone bill with unlimeted texting and talk will come out to be at least 190 bucks a mounth i actually dont use my cell phone anymore and im only paying 20 bucks a mounth to text and get email
I was looking device like this for my parents who lives abroad. In their place, 3G is common and mobile phone providers offer pre-paid 3G access (sim card). If this is really can be "unlock" and used with 3G in Asia, I will definetely consider buying this device. As of now...i'll just wait.
Very good overview. The actual PEEK website should have video demos but it doesn't. You answered questions I had that PEEK wasn't adressing. Thank you/good job
" if " this device is the "only" thing you carry...it's excellent ! NO contracts... $19 per month at least HALF of a cell bill,no dealing with voices of nagging people, etc However if you've been raised on devices and are only several years out of the womb you'll probably not understand this at all.
It is for people who dont want contracts, and huge bills, who want minimal contact, and aren't addicted to the bells and whistles of blackberries ,etc.people who arent suckers
and fall for every new gimmick, etc.actually it's a brilliant idea.
great go ahead and have fun with your five gadgets strapped to your belt "electronic batman". I've been there, it's not pretty, join with the rest of the world and get one device.
" some of the rest of the world " ( one device, lol) well put and so true...so very true ! p.s. now their working on a cellphone that "taps" you when someone calls..like someone tapping your shoulder ! I won't be able to live without this feature ...let the dumming down continue !
Anyways, I think this could be good in a work environment where you need email but don't want to pay for a phone and email for someone. We might look into trying one for our GM, so only the GM gets the company emails, but can still read/reply 24/7
We will not stop you. We actually have some customers who are currently trying to hack the device at home. In fact, we actually encourage you guys to have fun with it.
You're missing the point. It's about component connectivity, as opposed to investing all resources in a single device.
If you lose your iPhone, or it gets stolen, or it breaks, you're basically fucked: no web, no email, no phone.
Not everyone is comfortable with that. In fact, I don't even know why so many people take it as an article of religious faith that integrated connectivity devices are the only good idea, or even a good idea at all.
I agree with the advantage of simplicity.. plus no multi year contract. You can also check 3 email addresses at once. When they add Lotus and Outlook compatibility it will be much more useful
Certainly true for most anybody that has a smartphone, and some that just have decent regular phones, even. There's a very small market for this device.
Its not a huge waste but compared to $30 unlimited data plans on the Iphone 3g and blackberry's (at ATT) is priced a bit too high. For just e-mail (at 2G GPRS speeds) I think the sweet spot would a $9.99 monthly charge . At $99 ($79 through the holidays) for this device, and a $9.99 monthly charge tons of people would buy this device. If they could turn a profit at $9.99 this thing would fly off the shelves, I would buy one and keep it in my car as an emergency if I forgot my iPhone.
I totally agree with you. The price point won't convince many if they already get e-mail on their cell phone. I think this would be great for people who are not computer literate and feel that this is a simple way to read and write e-mail. I know someone who has a computer with internet and she's the only one in household who doesn't have e-mail.
You should get a smartphone instead on at&t

you're misunderstanding my point: this device (the peek) doesn't have any fees, charges, bills, etc.
MrSquitwet 2 years ago
Please so research,
It cost $100 on their site, but I saw some for like..$20
And it costs a monthly, 6 months, or a year fee to use.
neoka28 2 years ago
Amazon sells one for 299.99 that has zero fees.

This is because we use a national cellular network to keep your device connected to your email inbox.
