  • HI! I made a site where new Artist, DJ's can meet share ideas and music! please sign up for free!spread word and have fun! :D ---> type in mytechnochat .webs.com

  • So you are running a record label and you didn't manage to even route the audio correctly to prevent a shitty ghetto tutorial? This is some cheap stuff not worth a second.

  • jojojojo

  • Haha you retard. Keep it in the red?

In case you didnt know that creates digital distortion.. one of the reasons why your tracks probably sound like shit.

  • Chessboard is mostly correct; however in modern music (excluding classical music and other purist genres) you will always compress the kick and bass, and most often the rest of the drums.

  • can u do a full mix of a song

  • really?? does that help?

  • Haha

  • i havnt dun it yet but im workin on a few now have u gt messneger and i use the compressor ssl 4000

  • where do I hear the full track?

  • how do i get my vocals da exact same level as the other because imagin i am singin etc and i start of quiet then start to get higher notes i want to know how i can level them out without using the mixer because thats too complicated and it takes me time to do it could you get back to me MAN TRYED 2 USE DA COMPRESSOR BUT I DNT NO HOW TO SET IT OUT 4 DA VOCALS 2 CUM OUT DA EXACT SAME LEVEL

  • To flatten them in the compressor lower the threshold and boost the gain. Then use strong compression ratio

  • hey homie real clean tutorial much love from the west coast

  • you need to communicate a lil better but yo lesson was on point... really helped with exactly what i was lookin for.

  • ARE THE KICK DRUM AND SUB-BASS AT THE SAME LEVEL? dO YOU USE A LIMITER AT THE END OF THAT SHAIN OR JUST AS IT IS?

  • You shouldn't need a limiter. EQ and compression are more than enough.

Mixing starts with the kick (then drums) and bass. You could knock your whole mix out.

Bypass your effects, put your faders at zero. Raise the kick to a decent level. It should "sit" on the floor so it doesn't have to be loud. Louder equals higher.

Now slowly raise your bass to a decent level. Pull it back when the bass starts to take over. The kick should always just poke through.

You may not even need EQ/Compression.

  • Verry good infoe!

  • thats better than so many other videos ive seen on here. i did what you did in 3 mintues, and i got the sound ive been trying to get, as well as undertstand the reason behind it. thanks..

  • Hey man, cool tutorial. Thanks for that, best of luck on the next few. Would be worth watching alright, definitely more interesting than the usual 'cat back-flipping into a toilet' type of youtube video. ;-)

  • I have watched this so many times cheers mate it helps alot.

Do you ever side chain compress the bass with the kick?

  • yes i have

  • Hey how do you get that MUSICIAN under your name tho??

  • what MUSICIAN under my name?

  • @martygrayva

Oh I think he means, on your channel.
