nice man u got the same 75 gallon as me! except i got 2 scars and some clown loaches in it! (demensions r 48 inches long 18 inches wide 24 inches tall)
hi, i have a question. So i bought a 75 gallon tank, hoping to keep 1 Oscar, 1 blood parrot, 2 pleco's (they are big already) and 2 catfish that are about 6 inchs. I'm running s ehiem 2215 canister filter. Will that cause any problems?
Hi, i now probably nobody is gonna read this butt if 1 person reads this i am already happy , i am on youtube now for like a year and i post some good content and there will be coming some more i only have 10 subs yet and they are not really active I would love if someone just came and look at my video's and maybe even like a video or subscribe ! It would mean the world to me so please just take 1 minute out of your day and come check out this video !
Haha little jewel cichlid right there. Amazingly, out of all hardy fishes, my little jewel was among the 4 of 10 cichlids that survived my red devil's reign of terror. Awesome tank though, hoping to upgrade to the same soon to hold oscars.
if you raise an oscar with other fish wen you first get him. He will learn they are friends not food. i had an albino oscar with tiny tetras n the oscar was over a foot. he is still living with them. i dont have him anymore because i moved out n they wouldnt let me keep my tank. real sad. i had tons of hours of training and bonding with him.
hmm bad tank in my opinion gotta get sand and lots of rocks in a cichlid tank...............and hello? hey how about 4:30, ya well do you need a ride, do you want us to like pick you up at 4:30? lol this reminded me of family guy
poor oscar. oh well all ur other chichlids are really beautiful . you should use sand substrate. its more natural for them and they eat the sand to help there digestion.
awesome tank, i think the stock list is good. i have an oscar with my turquoise jewel, firemouth, and convict, with 2 tetras, a goldfish, and a pleco. they are fine, in most cases this wouldnt work but it somehow does
uhhm Oscars will not eat ANYTHING if the fish grow up together they will be fine ive had mine with a red bay snook, a jack dempsey, a pleco, and a pictus cat. and they are all fine...
i love how every one says o ya oscars are mean they will kill everything i have 3 oscars in my 125 gallon tank one is about 11 inches another one is 9 and the other one is 6 and my convict cichlids just had babys and i counted all of them and guess what they all are still alive none got eat tin its all about how u raise them but ppl just got to run there mouth trying to sound smart and all that
you do realize the oscar is going to grow to be huge and will eat all the other fish in the tank, right? oscars can eat frogs, goldfish, and mice!!!!!!!! youtube is filled with videos of oscars eating really big things! i'm sorry but your tank is doomed, do your research!
@SailingMoominmama maybe someone should read the discription. this oscar died from choking on a pleco sadly. This video was also 2 years ago. The tank hasn't been like this since. I have a single red Devil in that tank now.
@SailingMoominmama u do ur research if u put other fish in the tank with oscars when they are small they wont kill the other fish i have a pleco and a jack dempsey with a blood parrot in my oscar tank they dont bother the other fish
i know i have a lot of fish in this tank but ive since reduced and changed the stock to not have an overstocked tank. currently i have 1 oscar, 1 syndontis catfish, and one female jack dempsey cichlid. With your stocking that you want, as adults youre going to have a real hard time keeping the water ammonia free. you really really shouldnt have 2 oscars in anything less than a 100 gallon tank as they produce a ton of waste. id say 1 oscar, and 2 firemouths for a 75, or 1 oscar 1 parrot
@BingX14 I have an over stocked 75 gallon and my ammonia and nitrites are always 0 and nitrates are 0-5. A good filtration will take care of an overstocked tank.
@lewis9968 no my 2 oscars stressed out my blood parrot to much they have no way to defend them selfs now i don't know about firemounths and oscars there is a website that should help you ---> oscarfishlovers <---
the site has tankmates for oscars
i would really stay away from oscars with bloods hope this info helps
I have two baby oscars in a 70 gallon tank with a few minnows that they can torment and two plecos that double them in size. I'm hoping to one day move them all into my 200 gallon that is currently housing turtles. I'm wondering if I should wait until they outgrow their 70 gallon? Or will they ever...?
NIce Fish & Tank! Im thinking of getting a 75 Gallon tank but idk what fish can go together. I like this fish ( Green Terror, Firemouth, Rainbow Shark, and Pictus Catfish) Would this fish get along? any ideas on what fish I could get if the ones I mentioned dont work out?
@GhostxSolDier if you had one of all of those (except the pictus because you can have a group of them as they like little schools) that sounds like it would work out great. youre going to have to expect the green terror to take the dominant role in the tank but 75 gallons is more than enough room for them to coexist. If i was going to have these exact fish in my tank, id have a stock very similar to 1 Green Terror, 2 Firemouths, 1 Rainbow Shark, & a group of around 5 pictus catfish. goodluck!
Nice fish, I really have a ton of love for Jewel Cichlids. I used to have a Red Oscar with 2 Blood Red Parrots, 3 Jewels, and a couple Raphael Catfish. The Jewels had more fight when facing feeders than any of the other fish. Nice tank... I would recommend a canister filter though :D
a blood parrot and an angel might get a little cramped in a 29 gallon. the guppies and platys are fine and the parrot wont ever really be able to eat the guppies or anything because of their mouth shape. what id be worried about tho is the parrot getting too aggressive towards the angel. blood parrots are a hybrid fish made from red devil cichlids and gold severums. sometimes they take after the severum and are very peaceful, other times they take after the red devil and can be very nasty...
hey could you help me out i have tried to keep a oscar's sevral differnt times but they always die with n the first week i know there messy fish but i have a a top fin 60 filter a aqua tech 30 60 filter and also a fluval 305 canister filter could u help me with the secret i think oscar fish are beautiful but i cnt keep them alive
@pitbull0592 Well the oscar is going to grow twice as fast as your jack dempsey, but they make great tankmates even if the oscar grows larger faster, as long as they have a big enough tank and have grown up together. Oscars grow about 1 inch per month, until they reach about 7 inches...then the growing slows to about half an inch per month. But within a year you oscar should be about 9 inches at least. Jacks grow slower, growing about half an inch per month until they are fully grown.
@pitbull0592 and yes you can feed algae wafers but it isnt very necessary since both oscars and jack dempseys are primarily carnivorous fish that need a very meaty diet with lots of protein. Feeding things such as frozen krill and shrimp, along with frozen bloodworms will make both of these fish grow even faster and bring out great colors especially in the jack. Always feed a high quality cichlid pellet though, i recommend Omega One and Hikari pellets
quik question where is this located on second floor , first floor, basement did you have to strengthen the floor before doing this because i want one and its 850 pounds on the second floor
Hahaha, "sshhh, be quite!" That was cute. I'm sorry about Oscar, if it makes you feel any better I'm kind of in love with your tank. :/ It looks like theres no agua in it! o:
yeah my oscars are lil right now probably 4 inches... i tried to put 2 bala sharks they were bigger than the oscars and they end up being fooood..my red oscar is very agressive more than my albino ...but lets see what happenns..thanks
@TeRroRSqUaD20 well balas arent aggressive at all, they are large community schooling species that can grow over a foot long. But when faced with aggressive fish, they never fight, they just book it and try to swim away. I've seen adult oscars and adult balas be fine together, its just the balas grow much slower and when they are young, can end up being food to a larger oscar. An adult Bala is far to large for even the biggest oscar to view as food. Let me know how it goes with the FM's :)
@TeRroRSqUaD20 well that depends, technically, you can have two firemouth's with an oscar in a 90 gallon tank....but let me ask, how big is your oscar currently? Because if your oscar is over 5-6 inches, you can bet that it will try very hard to chase down a few 2 inch firemouths. If your oscar is still very small (2-3 inches), you will be alright introducing 2 inch firemouths. But keep in mind, The oscar will grow twice as fast as the firemouths will. The largest FM's you can find are best
I am new to the Aquarium thing. I am starting off with oscars though. Did you buy those log things like that or did you like cut them off of a tree? lol
@FuzzyCow777 That was a really dumb question. I didn't even think about that. If you cut them off of a tree they would float. lol. But the real question is did you buy those how they are or did you do some altering?
@FuzzyCow777 no these were not cut from a tree lol, but i did buy them as they are, and i did nothing to them to change them. I got both of them at a Local Petsmart haha. Its been quite a while since this vid was put up...i no longer have any of these fish except for the firemouth and blood parrot. I Transfored this tank into an African Malawi Mbuna cichlid tank. It currently has nothing fake in it, all of the rocks and corals are real (dead corals obviously). it looks awesome!
sorry to see and nice looking oscar die. but yea its so hard to get a pleco to survive long enough to get big enough. but if you go to that fish place in lancaster pa. (if you live in pa it is worth the travel) they sell plecos any where from babies to 16"!
@awinski999 thanks, yeah its been a while now but i still really miss him. After he died i slowly started changing the tank around untill i knew what i wanted to do. Now the tank looks nothing like this, and i've changed the tank to an all male Malawi Peacock cichlid tank, with synodontis catfish, and a few less aggressive Mbuna such as Yellow Labs. Id get a video up but im saving up enough money to buy a new camera, as mine broke from a bad fall lol
@eral2915 that is a Snakeskin Gourami. they are really cool but kind of a rare find in pet stores. they grow to 8 inches on average and although they are a larger gourami, they are very peaceful
wow u have a really beautiful tank. I did not even know you could put barbs with blood parrot together but I guess they are both semi aggressive so your tank proves that they are compatible. :) check out my tank with my barbs !!
@BingX14 I just put a Jewel and Firemouth baby in my 20 gallon and the Jewel is a terror! How do you get them to get along in ur tank? The Jewel even has a 4 1/2 inch Bluegill at bay, not terrorized but he moves when the Jewel comes at him. The babies are just inch+????
i think you shouldn't have bought that black gravel from what i have experienced all the gravel from Petsmart is painted and sometimes the paint will be consumed and it is harmful to the fish.
Nice this helps a lot. I'm planning on getting a 55 gallon and they are the same size as a 75 only the 75 is 5 inches thicker width wise. I wasn't sure this would be long enough but I think it will be.
its got aquarium salt in it. Aquarium salt...unlike marine salt...can be used in freshwater aquariums as a stress reducer and to naturally help kill parasites. It also keeps the fish's gills functioning well
Holy crap man so sorry to hear about your oscar. I was really hoping to him grow up :{ The same thing was about to happen with my oscar, so i took the pleco out as soon as i saw my oscar attacking it. This really sucks. Are you planing to get another one?
yeah dude it really sucked comming home from school and seeing it happening. After i realized there was no more i could do to help him i felt so bad cuz we all loved that fish. And nahh i havnt gotten another oscar, but i have changed the tank quite a bit and although there isnt an awesome oscar hangin out in there anymore, i still really like how it turned out. So dude check out my recent vids and tell me what you think! oh i saw your recent vid of your oscar and he looks great!
well i now have two filters. the 2nd filter i got is the same as the one you see here, which is a Marineland Emperor 400 Bio wheel. So both of the filters put together = 800 gallons per hour worth of filtration.
Parrots are so ugly... lol i have one in my 220 and like every time i look at my tank i think to my self.... Damn what an ugly fish :D .. but you have a very nice tank.
yeah when i first got him i thought he was a oretty weird lookin fish too but ive gotten used to it and i kinda like it now. my dad says the same thing you do though lol every time he looks at him hes like geez what a weird looking face on that fish
very very nice tank and fish.. your parrot and oscar is amazing man... i luv you tank and water condition is perfect just keep it up.. it just wana know what kind of decoration material is that which u have placed in your tank coz its very nice and eye catching decoration piece.. u got 5 star
thanks dude, and sadly oscar isnt with us anymore :( read the last part of the description for the story to what happened. And the decorations i got both at a close by PetsMart. They aren't real wood or anything but yeah they do look great. The larger one was like $40 and the smaller, tall one was like $20. thanks for checkin out the tank and check out my more recent vids
m so sorry about your oscar.. i really like your thought of doing water change on every friday night and well new silver dollars also great m gona buy them soon .. you can also add black ghost knife .. good luck
o i luv ur tank it dont really look like a 75 though o well its still real nice i wish mine was that clean i evan got 2 filters an its still foggy do u no y? dont expect 2 c if u no y but jus curious if youve ever come across this problem b4 u no how 2 help me? its ok if u dont though thanx anyway
yeahh tht seems to happen to people. the tank looks smaller on camera ive noticed that with other tanks idk why but yeah no worries on the question. So how big is your tank and what kind/how many fish do you have in it? what kinda filters you runnin? then ill see if i can help no prob
I see the update. Looks like the oscar runs thing now. Good job. And you are right that must be the nicest blood parrot i have seen. nice set up. like that the barbs made it.
thanks the tank has gone through some changes since oscar passed,(read the last part of the description) i moved some fish around and i now have a school of silver dollar tetras one of my favorites along with most of these guys in the vid but still some changes. ill post a vid soon
just letting you guys know, some bad news. While i was at school today, Oscar decieded he'd try to eat my small rubberlip pleco. The pleco is always in hiding and i never even worried about it but today i regret having them in the same tank. the pleco's spines got stuck in Oscars mouth and he swam the whole day with the tail of the pleco hanging out of his mouth. I have since helped him get the pleco out (pleco obviously died) but Oscars mouth is still wide open like he cant close it :(
no worries about the questions. 125 gal is a great size tank and id say that you wouldn't want to go over 3 oscars but i totally understand what you mean about one of the three being singled out and beat on. you could try having 3 with very good filtration i wouldnt put 4 of these guys in a 125. also, do you want just oscars? cuz you could have just two oscars and then have another large central or south american cichlid. if you want to do that i know lots of good species that can mix w/ Oscars
thanks and i checked out your vids cool stuff. Well for two Oscars, i'd recommend a 90 gallon tank or more if you can. these guys grow wicked fast and when your oscars are both 12" long, your going to want as much space as possible cause eventhough oscars are one of the more passive american cichlids, man can be really territorial when at adult size but aside from that, they produce a huge amount of waste so for two adults 90+ gallons would be easier to keep clean.
That's pretty cool...love the new thank so so much. Around how much did the tank cost (not including gravel, and ornaments)? I've been trying to get a 75 or bigger like forever before my oscar gets too big but the prices are RIDICULOUSLY INSANE here.
Hey thanks a bunch! How are your Oscar and Dempsey doin? i've seen your vids haha
Well the Tank itself cost around $220.00 (US dollars) from PetsMart. the tank came with the glass cover and the florescent light. The filter you see in this vid is the Marineland Emperor 400 with bio-wheel and that was about $70.00 and i know have two of these filters so I have about 800 gallons per hour worth of filtration. So just the tank itself (and the stuff that came with it) was about $220.00
man i cant wait till christmas um gettin me 1 of these and one tiger oscar maybe 2 because i hate cleaning big fish tanks and want to keep the water clean
sweet yah good luck with the tank when you get it and yeah it would probably be a good idea to have one oscar rather than two in a 75 gal. as you probably know they are such messy fish and they make a lot of waste so reealy good filtration and water changes are always needed
love the bloodparrot chiclid..has that oscar eat'n any of ur barbs yet?

Oscars will not eat anything in the tank if raised with the other fish, and you don't acclimate them to eat fish by feeding feeder fish.

Q:
1. How long will it take for her to get to about 5 inches she is 2 inches right now
2. can i feed my cichlids (oscar and JD) peices of algae wafers to supplement the vegetable matter in their diets
3. What is the significance of a flower pot in cichlid aquariums
pitbull0592 1 year ago
@pitbull0592 Well the oscar is going to grow twice as fast as your jack dempsey, but they make great tankmates even if the oscar grows larger faster, as long as they have a big enough tank and have grown up together. Oscars grow about 1 inch per month, until they reach about 7 inches...then the growing slows to about half an inch per month. But within a year you oscar should be about 9 inches at least. Jacks grow slower, growing about half an inch per month until they are fully grown.

@BingX14 nice parrot i have one just like it
Lurk1ngLurk3r 1 year ago
@pitbull0592 and yes you can feed algae wafers but it isnt very necessary since both oscars and jack dempseys are primarily carnivorous fish that need a very meaty diet with lots of protein. Feeding things such as frozen krill and shrimp, along with frozen bloodworms will make both of these fish grow even faster and bring out great colors especially in the jack. Always feed a high quality cichlid pellet though, i recommend Omega One and Hikari pellets

yeah my oscars are lil right now probably 4 inches... i tried to put 2 bala sharks they were bigger than the oscars and they end up being fooood..my red oscar is very agressive more than my albino ...but lets see what happenns..thanks
TeRroRSqUaD20 1 year ago
@TeRroRSqUaD20 well balas arent aggressive at all, they are large community schooling species that can grow over a foot long. But when faced with aggressive fish, they never fight, they just book it and try to swim away. I've seen adult oscars and adult balas be fine together, its just the balas grow much slower and when they are young, can end up being food to a larger oscar. An adult Bala is far to large for even the biggest oscar to view as food. Let me know how it goes with the FM's :)

i wanna get 2 firemouth for my 90 gallon oscar tank...do u think if i get small fire mouth like 2 and half inche the oscars will eat them?
TeRroRSqUaD20 1 year ago
@TeRroRSqUaD20 well that depends, technically, you can have two firemouth's with an oscar in a 90 gallon tank....but let me ask, how big is your oscar currently? Because if your oscar is over 5-6 inches, you can bet that it will try very hard to chase down a few 2 inch firemouths. If your oscar is still very small (2-3 inches), you will be alright introducing 2 inch firemouths. But keep in mind, The oscar will grow twice as fast as the firemouths will. The largest FM's you can find are best

Nice tank srry bout yo Oscar that sucks
MrStewPadasle 1 year ago
I am new to the Aquarium thing. I am starting off with oscars though. Did you buy those log things like that or did you like cut them off of a tree? lol
FuzzyCow777 1 year ago
@FuzzyCow777 That was a really dumb question. I didn't even think about that. If you cut them off of a tree they would float. lol. But the real question is did you buy those how they are or did you do some altering?
FuzzyCow777 1 year ago
@FuzzyCow777 no these were not cut from a tree lol, but i did buy them as they are, and i did nothing to them to change them. I got both of them at a Local Petsmart haha. Its been quite a while since this vid was put up...i no longer have any of these fish except for the firemouth and blood parrot. I Transfored this tank into an African Malawi Mbuna cichlid tank. It currently has nothing fake in it, all of the rocks and corals are real (dead corals obviously). it looks awesome!

xsapx13 1 year ago
sorry to see and nice looking oscar die. but yea its so hard to get a pleco to survive long enough to get big enough. but if you go to that fish place in lancaster pa. (if you live in pa it is worth the travel) they sell plecos any where from babies to 16"!
awinski999 1 year ago
@awinski999 thanks, yeah its been a while now but i still really miss him. After he died i slowly started changing the tank around untill i knew what i wanted to do. Now the tank looks nothing like this, and i've changed the tank to an all male Malawi Peacock cichlid tank, with synodontis catfish, and a few less aggressive Mbuna such as Yellow Labs. Id get a video up but im saving up enough money to buy a new camera, as mine broke from a bad fall lol
BingX14 1 year ago
so you got rid of the community tank
superfishman123 1 year ago
@superfishman123 yep, its now a Malawi Mbuna Cichlid tank

@eral2915 that is a Snakeskin Gourami. they are really cool but kind of a rare find in pet stores. they grow to 8 inches on average and although they are a larger gourami, they are very peaceful

wow u have a really beautiful tank. I did not even know you could put barbs with blood parrot together but I guess they are both semi aggressive so your tank proves that they are compatible. :) check out my tank with my barbs !!

i think you shouldn't have bought that black gravel from what i have experienced all the gravel from Petsmart is painted and sometimes the paint will be consumed and it is harmful to the fish.

Nice this helps a lot. I'm planning on getting a 55 gallon and they are the same size as a 75 only the 75 is 5 inches thicker width wise. I wasn't sure this would be long enough but I think it will be.

wat is that cup and what does it do
pitbull0592 2 years ago
its got aquarium salt in it.

Are you planing to get another one?
dreamerguy91 2 years ago
yeah dude it really sucked comming home from school and seeing it happening.
BingX14 2 years ago
Wow.
Can you explain how the filtration system works?
For example:
( My filtration )
Tank water flows into a white filtration paper.(or foam)
then water from their falls into a pile of black balls. then from there into another white flitration paper.
then into the tank.
ANYONE KNOW WHATS THATS CALLED?
seage12 2 years ago
What type of filtration system are you using?
seage12 2 years ago
well i now have two filters. the 2nd filter i got is the same as the one you see here, which is a Marineland Emperor 400 Bio wheel. So both of the filters put together = 800 gallons per hour worth of filtration.

They aren't real wood or anything but yeah they do look great. The larger one was like $40 and the smaller, tall one was like $20. thanks for checkin out the tank and check out my more recent vids

thanks the tank has gone through some changes since oscar passed,(read the last part of the description) i moved some fish around and i now have a school of silver dollar tetras one of my favorites along with most of these guys in the vid but still some changes. ill post a vid soon
BingX14 2 years ago
I'm trying my best to help him out but if the time time comes and Oscar doesnt make it... :( .. ill keep updating the situation
BingX14 2 years ago
just letting you guys know, some bad news. I have since helped him get the pleco out (pleco obviously died) but Oscars mouth is still wide open like he cant close it :(
BingX14 2 years ago
no worries about the questions.
BingX14 2 years ago
thanks and i checked out your vids cool stuff.
BingX14 2 years ago
That's pretty cool...love the new thank so so much. Around how much did the tank cost (not including gravel, and ornaments)? I've been trying to get a 75 or bigger like forever before my oscar gets too big but the prices are RIDICULOUSLY INSANE here.
dreamerguy91 2 years ago
Hey thanks a bunch! How are your Oscar and Dempsey doin? i've seen your vids haha
Well the Tank itself cost around $220.00 (US dollars) from PetsMart. the tank came with the glass cover and the florescent light. The filter you see in this vid is the Marineland Emperor 400 with bio-wheel and that was about $70.00 and i know have two of these filters so I have about 800 gallons per hour worth of filtration. So just the tank itself (and the stuff that came with it) was about $220.00
BingX14 2 years ago
So thanks for checkin out the new tank and goodluck with yours! If you wanna know anything else about this tank just let me know

man i cant wait till christmas um gettin me 1 of these and one tiger oscar maybe 2 because i hate cleaning big fish tanks and want to keep the water clean
pitbull0592 2 years ago
sweet yah good luck with the tank when you get it and yeah it would probably be a good idea to have one oscar rather than two in a 75 gal. as you probably know they are such messy fish and they make a lot of waste so reealy good filtration and water changes are always needed
BingX14 2 years ago
Thanks! yeah im really happy with how the tank looks it came out great
