  • Got to be a fan of Cliff through Stevie Riks's impression of him.

  • 30 seconds of nothing....

  • If it wasn't for the ludicrous bandy-legged dancing and arm movements, the extremely strange outfit, and the bizarre lyrics ("power to the bees"!!), this would be quite good! :-)

  • Who wrote this song?

  • @zijnemajesteit Writer(s) were Guy Fletcher/Doug Flett

  • I like this one more than "Congratulations".

  • @tenniscollector

Yes and Cliff Richard had also previously represented the United Kingdom in 1968 Eurovision with that "Congratulations", which came second.

  • best hit ever

  • 1:20 EPIC DANCE

  • I dedicate this song for Jean Todt and Michael Schumacher (GP Singapore 2011)

    no furher comment needed

  • High five! High five! High five! High five! OK Cliff my hand's tired.....

  • it was a song supposed to celebrate us (United Kingdom) joining the EEC.....and the europeans gave us two fingers.....so nothing has changed

  • Cliff is a Lengend .no doubt. The great John Farrar on guitar and backing vocals also.

  • I'll tell you why he didn't win Eurovision - it was the nazi salute between 2:27 and 2:42.

  • @trashcanalive lmao :o)

  • Good song don't know if cliffs dancing was appropriate I remember watching this when I was 12 and thinking he had pooped his pants

  • now if the songs these days on Eurovision were like this, they'd do far better ..

  • @Theodora2208 no if the voting wasn`t rigged ,then we would have a chance, not because of the music, religeon and politics dictate....

  • @Theodora2208 no if the voting wasn`t rigged ,then we would have a chance, not because of the music, religion and politics dictate....

  • great song, nice performance. anyway, his style that moving his hands to up and down, IMO, like he sings a gospel song, hahaha :)

  • Notice the person playing the drums in the orchestra is having a rest. A pre-made track was made so that the orchestra wasn't really necessary. When this was applied to all nations in the early 200s, Cliff didn't like this idea. He said it was karaoke. Which was what he did that night (but there was part of the orchestra playing too).

    LOL at 3:16

  • FANTASTIC THE BEST CLIFF RICH

  • Wait a second...at 3:47, the ginger girl in the bottom left in the yellow blouse and big glasses: it's Thelma from Scooby Doo!

  • i am 17 years old and like cliff richards very much!!!!!!!!!

  • Dig those groovy moves, lol. Good song anyway.

  • The song is a really nice one.... But indeed, how he brings this, and how it sounds over here; he's quite making a fool of himself.... He shouldn't have left The Shadows, 'cause two years later, The Shadows made nr. 2 in the Eurovision, with Bruce Welch (Shadows guitarist / lead-singer)... Guess if he would have done this one together with The Shadows he could have reached the first place...

  • ...I quite liked it.

  • Yeah ...he completely embarassed himself.

  • did we have shome shexy fun in Amshterdam that night after this , yesh?!

  • It's so ghastly I find myself compelled to watch it time and time again

  • 1:22 wow CLASS! Cliff doesn't have X-shaped legs or O-shaped, hell no, he has XO-legs - both at a time! (lol)

  • OMG that crazy knees dance he does he genius.

  • Probably the worst U.K. Entry for Eurovision, can't believe it came third even. What was Cliff thinking?

  • @phil1958uk This is not the worst I can think of. A rummage through the last 5 or 6 years will reveal a few crackers. This isn't a kick in the baws away from it though!

  • He looks like a winegum seller LOL

I love this song! Power to our friends, wherever you are!

  • Cliff had a great voice...but he couldn't dance for peanuts...and whoever dressed him must have been stoned!

  • @jimincairns it was the seventies everyone was stoned hell he was probably stoned and the full orchestra behind him they were probably wasted and thought he has a giant dancing red and black caterpillar but no he couldn't dance to save his life he may think he can dance think he can dance but that wasn't the quick step, two step or the barcenova (lol song reference)but the man could sing like an angel god bless him

  • @Master0of0Blades Liked the reference to Leo Sayer...heheh!

  • I had this on a K-Tel collection. What is he WEARING in this video? A flared blouse? Though he is attractive, he wasn't David Cassidy...

  • What a terrible dance !!!

  • Fuck yeah....

  • Spot the spare seat in the audience... I should have been there!! So I would have only been 4 years old, but I still should have been there - would have looked great in a tux!!

  • The beginning is not that bad but everything goes downhill from there...

  • he's so sicked that he lost out on the title twice... and ok congratulations was better than 'la la la la', but this song is crap! he should have just let it go when he lost once.

  • It's the one song i thought people would consider gay.

  • im a goth and love cliff , can't stand idiots slagging him off. hes generally not my type of music but my guilty pleasure.

  • @MegaRapture He is gay so am I, so what he's A1.That song has the power he sings about. I am a 67 year old R&R fan always loved Sir Cliff a few years my senior he still looks 10 years younger than me, and he's the only Rock singer I kniow who sings every song as a Gentleman out of character with R&R normal sounds. That Anglo/Indian dude is still great at 71 in 2008/9 and march next must be 74 I guess. Boy I wish I was as fit. But i always envied him.LOL

  • How beautiful he was..:)

Thanks for posting it and in high quality!

  • Power to the bees? Thanks for sharing!

  • lol At 1:21 - 1:35

  • LOVE IT !! Total cliff richard fan - this is definately one of my all time favs!.. Even though my mum was only 7 when this was released, we are both big fans of Cliff and will continue to be!

  • Yes this is a classic indeed!

  • LOL, we made this 'thing with the hand' all times and thought it was REALLY cool! :D I went ten this year. A nice song, I liked it very much.

  • WTF

    1:22 hahaha!!

    Nice Spiderman suit!

Soft as hell, but man still a great song!

  • lovely song

  • I remember the contest on Cilla Black's show where he tried 10 different songs and this piece of crap won to be England's submission to the Euro contest. The other songs were even worse.

  • 1.23!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks like Jim Carrey...

  • he's gotta be high

  • han suger tydligen

  • vikken dans med benen! :) ha ha

  • An underrated song by Cliff, I've always liked his 60's & 70s songs, his early 70s stuff seem to have been swept under the carpet. Stupid performance, not only does he look like he's pushing a horse up a ramp but with his knee's opening & closing like that it looks like he's giving way to pigs that want to get past! Spain may have beaten him twice but he had the best career I'm sure!

  • @DavidJHarrisonEssex - i dont find his performance bad...the song had too much rythm and this was his way to express it- It is one of the best entries ever !! I really like this song

  • @DJHEssex ho ho lol

Some of the bizarrest choreography in Eurovision...which is saying something.

Oddly fascistic costume in black and red with Heil gestures. If the Nazis had had Glam Rock this is what it might have looked like I guess.

  • Ja wünsche ich, daß ich wie der tanzen könnte

  • Not sure a song can have 'too much rythm!' As stated, I like the song. As for his performance, each to there own!

  • Der Tanzstil ist einfach unübertroffen!

  • @Neckarine Ja wünsche ich, daß ich wie der tanzen könnte!!! :-/

  • Oh yeah "Cliffy" but I think "John Lennon Lennon´s" "Power To The People" rocks too .-)

  • cliff richard ft the beatles

  • ha not only did he lose to spain in 1968 by one point, but this time he comes third to spain by two points

  • wrong he should of won in 1968 but the judges were bribed thankyou come again

  • gotta love the 'pushing a reluctant horse up the stairs' dance at 1:31

  • Brilliant, that comment made my day

  • Are John Farrar and Alan Tarney playing with Cliff here?

  • Love the song. It was this song that made me a Cliff fan back in 1973. As to his dancing - this was the way to move your body in those days. Hilarious now, admittedly he he

  • Is he pissed?

  • Although 1973 was a strong year, this might have won until he started dancing...

  • That's what made me want to watch it, I needed a laugh

  • How many people are wathcing this cause of Have i got news for you? Lol

  • PMSL!!! Me :D Funniest dance EVER!

  • me, and them below. I like his dancing when he looks like he has bow-legs.

Is he wearing a gay darth maul outfit?

  • @gecko2gecko2 Aren't you supposed to cross your hands over on your knees, when you do that dance?

  • @Flookie08 Me for one! :D

  • @Flookie08 yeah watched it last night on dave...astute observation :)

  • @Flookie08 j

  • lool his dance is hilarius.. love it... great song!

  • love this song

  • i love the "pushing a reluctant horse up a ramp dance" at 1:36

  • pmsl@the `dancin`!

  • My guess is that Sir Cliff is not gay. However, my research indicates that approximately 16% of YouTube posters are gay.

  • and your research started with yourself i'm guessing?

  • Actually my research of Youtube comments, started when I analyzed the comments on the awful "Shit Pickle" and "Monkey Cheese" videos on YouTube.

  • I Love Cliff In This Clip Cos He Looks Like He Is Enjoying What He Is Doing So Much <3 Catchy Song Aswell ...GO CLIFF

  • This is music! Fantastic!

  • This is much better than "Congratulations"!!!

  • You've gotta love Cliff lol. Silly outfit, silly dance, but I love it! Great singer and one of my favourite Eurovision songs.

  • Isn't this the first Eurovision song to feature an electric guitar. Cliff did great, he delivered well this powerful and fun song.

  • I think that the first ESC-song that did that was UK's '72 entry.

  • me encanta como baila

  • I didn't know Cliff used drugs. If he did, it looks more like he was on amphetamines or a hallucinogenic.

  • I believe he took a sleeping tablet because he was so nervous that he couldn't sleep. Unfortunately they were a little too effective and he was virtually unconscious as he made his way to the theatre!

  • Crap audience - he said he was "valium-ed" up for this perf as he was so nervous. Great song!

  • Han ramlade nästan omkull efter ett försök att snurra runt.

  • Fricking awesome!!
